Slander
The carriage traveled along the road to Plus Ten Town. Lynch volunteered to drive, as he found the skill quite interesting ever since he learned it.
No one tried to take the wheel from him, except Leonard, who reminded him to slow down, saying that if he hit someone, they might end up in jail for the rest of their lives.
Lynch pretended not to hear. He wasn't some unreliable jerk; why would he need to hit someone?
Moreover, when in the city, he couldn't speed up even if he wanted to.
However, once they reached the outskirts, Lynch finally sped up the carriage.
At noon, taking advantage of lunch break, they finally arrived at Plus Ten Town. It was the warmest time of day there, and the sunshine made them stretch.
"Why don't you two Poet write a poem to act it out?"
Klein jumped down from the carriage, looked at the church priests who had come to greet them, and asked in a low voice next to Lynch and Leonard.
The two Poet strode toward Father Evis, pretending not to have heard Klein's nonsense.
If they could write poetry, would they need to use other people's poems to act?
Especially Lynch, whose portrayal of Poet is full of human relationships and self-interest.
No, Lynch wasn't a real Poet; he was just pretending to be Poet. This secretly relieved Lynch.
"Great, you're finally here! We thought you wouldn't be here until tomorrow!"
Father Evis saw them and warmly greeted them.
Leonard and the others laughed, thinking it was just polite talk, but Lynch asked one more question.
"Since you thought we'd come tomorrow, why are you here to greet us now? Of course, it's fine if you don't want to say; I'm just a little curious."
He said with a smile.
Father Evis wasn't angry; he simply drew a full moon on his chest.
"It was a revelation from the Goddess that made me believe you would all be here!"
Sure enough, it was the Goddess's arrangement.
There seems to be no danger. All I need to do is take a quick look around here, and I'll be able to get credit when I get back.
Lynch gave himself a thumbs up for his choice.
"Are you really capable of handling these things?"
There were quite a few of them, and the townspeople naturally gathered around, some even hesitantly asking them questions.
Lynch and the others laughed.
"Don't worry, we're professionals!"
They took out garlic, river water they had collected along the way, and the silver dagger Klein had used during his prayers, from their pockets to pretend they were their equipment.
This was extremely useful to the townspeople, except for Father Evis, who stood by dumbfounded, wondering what made these four men any different from the charlatans outside.
Did he bring a fake team of Beyonder?
Does it include meals?
Ignoring Father Evis's bewilderment, Lynch walked over to the priest and asked in a low voice.
Priest Evis nodded subconsciously, which made them all laugh.
Klein, in particular, was practically calculating how much money he could save if he ate here that evening too.
"If we stay a little later and spend the night here, we might even be able to get breakfast tomorrow morning!"
Lynch offered suggestions from the side.
The Goddess made this arrangement, and it's uncertain whether Klein will be able to profit from it. He has a good relationship with the Goddess now and can help out appropriately. Let's stretch the time and see what kind of benefits Klein can get.
He noticed that Klein had bought some materials for making talismans at the underground market last time. If Klein still had them with him, they might be able to make them today.
"Is it really necessary? I didn't even want to come out with you two, it's too embarrassing. Neither of you are that poor, why are you so stingy?"
Leonard was complaining from the sidelines, but neither Lynch nor Klein reacted.
Even Royale thought it was a good idea, and he also wanted to save some money.
"I'm truly impressed!"
Leonard could only helplessly complain in the end.
However, they still went to Priest Evis's church for lunch with Lynch and the others first. They didn't go to the townspeople's house until 3 p. m.
Klein held the Sun Sacred Emblem, Lynch splashed river water around him, Leonard tossed garlic cloves haphazardly, and Royale waved a silver dagger around casually.
While the four of them were performing, they could hear townspeople cheering. Lynch seriously suspected that in the eyes of the townspeople, they had become members of some kind of performance program.
Fortunately, the Sun's emblem was indeed effective. They visited the townspeople's homes where the incident occurred, had Klein perform a divination to ensure the problem was resolved, and then went to the grave where the incident had taken place.
This evil spirit comes from this tomb.
Klein performed a divination and, after confirming that it was merely a child who had accidentally taken food from beside the grave, which had enraged the evil spirit, he breathed a slight sigh of relief.
However, he planned to go to Sefirah Castle again later to perform a divination to confirm whether there were any extraordinary factors involved in this matter.
The Sun had already set by then.
They simply went back to the church with Father Evis, had dinner, and then decided on the order of night watch.
Lynch left the town first with the Sun Sacred Emblem, followed by Klein, then Royale, and finally Leonard. When it was almost time, they quickly returned for breakfast and then left.
Lynch had no problem with it, but Klein looked at Leonard suspiciously, thinking that Leonard might be secretly watching him while he was on duty.
After all, they were both very curious about each other's secrets.
He became even more wary after Leonard smiled at him.
Lynch ignored what Klein and Leonard were saying and left with the Sun's emblem and the storybook.
Knowing he would be carrying the Sun Sacred Emblem this time, he made a point of taking one of his own storybooks and randomly picking another from Old Neil's desk, and also made sure to bring a flashlight, fearing he might be bored on night duty.
Once in the wilderness, he let the Stone of Myriad Phenomena absorb a few breaths of the Sun Sacred Emblem, then quickly opened his storybook, which he hadn't finished reading yet.
It's fair to say that there's too little entertainment in this world. This guy, who can't live without his phone, feels that storybooks are the best form of entertainment right now.
After waiting for an unknown amount of time, Lynch finally saw Klein.
He immediately tossed the Sun Emblem to Klein, then swatted the mosquitoes off himself. That's the downside of being out in the wild; with his flashlight on, the mosquitoes practically swarmed around him.
"Would you like me to leave you a storybook?"
Lynch waved the books in his hand; he had brought two with him!
"No, it's only two hours."
Sitting here in a daze for two hours?
Lynch could only say one thing: admiration!
He quickly slipped away with the book, deciding to lend it to Royale and Leonard, who were obviously bored. The two guys had been looking at his book all night, hesitant to speak, so they must really want to read it!
Lynch hurried back to the hotel, handed one of the two books to Leonard and one to Royale, and was about to return to his room when he heard Royale hesitate:
"Read less of these books, poor child. Has it really come to this without a wife by your side?"
Lynch looked at the book in Royale's hand with a puzzled expression, and then he opened his mouth.
The two overlapping figures above were defaming his reputation, and he could already imagine what they would say about him.
Old Neil, at his age, why does he like watching this kind of stuff?
