Zilingus's Death
Lynch and Klein returned to Daffodil Street by carriage early in the morning. After having some breakfast, Lynch went to Mr. Azik's house.
He also had to have Mr. Azik keep an eye on Megose to prevent the young lady from saying anything inappropriate.
Megose isn't Anseline, who could make Dunn and Klein's Spirituality give way. The Nighthawks might be able to get a lot out of her!
However, he was overthinking it. Mr. Azik made a trip and came back to tell him definitively that Megose didn't say a word. Her father's status allowed her to avoid being asked as many questions as ordinary people.
She only needed to answer specific questions to urge the official Beyonder to leave.
Lynch relaxed a little, but he didn't leave; he remembered that Qilingus's appearance wasn't far off.
The book said it was the day after dealing with Hood Eugen. He wasn't sure if the timing of dealing with Hood Eugen had changed because of his presence, so he decided to follow Mr. Azik whenever he had time these next few days, thinking he would eventually run into him.
Sure enough, in the evening, he saw the image of Miss Justice, her face blurred out.
"Fool out of step with this age! At the ball hosted by Duke Negan, I encountered someone who resembled Qilingus!"
Lynch immediately stood up.
He looked at Mr. Azik, who was writing a letter, and exclaimed with a hint of excitement, "Qilingus has appeared! I want his Beyonder Characteristic and his Creeping Hunger! Don't let him get away!"
Mr. Azik sighed, glanced at Lynch with a hint of sympathy, then put down the half-written letter, touched his hat, and disappeared from the spot, deciding to go pick up some trash for his children.
Meanwhile, Mr. Hanged Man also informed the bishop, and they stormed into the ball with the Beyonder.
Qilingus was incredibly cunning; their ambush failed, and Qilingus broke through their encirclement.
Just when Mr. Hanged Man thought he was about to lose track of Qilingus again, the Archbishop's voice rang out.
"No need to chase after them."
Mr. Hanged Man frowned. He looked in the direction of the Archbishop's voice and saw that the archbishop was looking into the distance.
Qilingus was there.
But suddenly his skin crumbled away inch by inch, his body fell apart, leaving only a pile of bones on the ground.
Everyone stood there, speechless for a long time.
It wasn't until Qilingus's Beyonder Characteristic appeared that the Archbishop ordered the cleanup to begin, but before any of the official Beyonder could act, a hand snatched away the Beyonder Characteristic.
Did you tell anyone else about it?
The Archbishop looked at the Mr. Hanged Man and asked.
The Hanged Man shook his head.
"I learned about it from someone else; they probably told quite a few people."
The Archbishop nodded and vanished, leaving behind only the Mr. Hanged Man, his heart filled with excitement and fear.
Mr. Power has such a powerful elder; he killed a Creeping Hunger Wind-blessed in just 27 seconds. Even the Archbishop couldn't have done that, right?
Mr. Hanged Man took a breath; he was about to prepare, but soon he stopped.
A skeleton made of white bones stood before him, respectfully handing him a contract held between its finger bones.
It clearly states above: After becoming a demigod, he will unconditionally help Mr. Power once.
Is this Mr. Power's elder?
No, judging from the other party's respectful manner, he is probably just a subordinate of that Mr. Power, who came here only to have him sign a contract.
But a demigod...
He suspected that this skeleton was almost a demigod.
Does the other person really need it?
However, he didn't dare to hesitate and signed his name, because he saw more and more skeletons surrounding him, as if they were about to tear his flesh apart and turn him into something like Qilingus.
"And... Beyonder Characteristic..."
The skeleton emitted a hoarse sound.
Mr. Hanged Man hurriedly pulled a metal box from his pocket. He was just about to take out the Beyonder Characteristic for the skeletons when he discovered that his metal box, along with the Beyonder Characteristic inside, had been stolen. He didn't even have a chance to stop it.
So, Mr. Power's elders didn't even lift a finger; it was all done by these subordinates?
No wonder Mr. Power always treated Mr. Fool with some disrespect in the Tarot Club. With such an elder, if Mr. Fool weren't God, he probably wouldn't need to Tarot Club at all to get everything he wanted.
Moreover, this Mr. Power has a teacher, a teacher who can cooperate with Mr. Fool. How does Mr. Power seem like the protagonist described in the book?
The Sun in the Tarot Club is a member of the Forsaken Land of the Gods, Mr. Power has a powerful background. The Hanged Man thinks that compared to Miss Justice, he's just there to make up the numbers.
No, Miss Justice is rich, so he's the one who's just there to make up the numbers?
Even if it's just to make up the numbers, we can't take his iron box; it's worth a pound!
"I'll give you the Beyonder Characteristic first, and you can wait for the Creeping Hunger. I'll help you figure out a way so you can use it legitimately, without having to sneak around."
When Lynch left Mr. Azik's house that evening, he reluctantly placed the Creeping Hunger he had been playing with for a while on Mr. Azik's table. Then, he used the iron box given to him by Mr. Hanged Man to put both of his Beyonder Characteristic into it before saying goodbye to Mr. Azik.
I'd really like to know how Mr. Azik will legally give him the Creeping Hunger. He can't possibly give it to him through a quest, can he?
That's unlikely, since the extraordinary items they obtain during missions are also handed over to the church by the team, and the church will only give them to them if it determines that they pose little threat.
For something like the Creeping Hunger, which requires devouring life, the church will most likely just give him a large sum of money, let him choose an ordinary extraordinary item, and then have him place the Creeping Hunger as a Sealed Artifact behind the Chanis Gate, thus sealing it away.
Lynch didn't want money; he just wanted the Creeping Hunger.
I really hope Mr. Azik can come up with a good solution.
Backlund.
Audrey listened to her father recount the cause of Qilingus's death, a look of shock on her face.
Mr. Power's elders are really amazing!
What's most admirable is that Mr. Power doesn't seem to have such a powerful elder at all; he appears to be a very Justice and official Beyonder.
At the next Tarot Club, we must get Mr. Hanged Man to recount what happened. Audrey guessed that Mr. Hanged Man must have seen the whole thing.
Dad said that the Church of the Lord of Storms has mobilized almost all of its members in Backlund, Mr. Hanged Man might be among them.
By the way, I still don't know Mr. Hanged Man has given Mr. Power his Beyonder Characteristic. Mr. Power is a man of his word, and if his friend needs them, he will definitely do his best to fulfill them.
As Audrey was thinking this, she suddenly heard her father's voice.
"By the way, besides the estate Duke Negan gave you, the entire £20,000 bounty from Qilingus will also be yours. I've decided to put it all in your dowry. Do you have a little boy you like?"
Little boy?
Mr. Power shouldn't be too small...
Hey Audrey, don't overthink it! Why are you even joking about Mr. Power?
