What? Two Thousand Pounds?
"What's wrong? Why aren't you taking the money?"
Lynch feigned ignorance and asked Klein.
Klein gritted his teeth, afraid that Klein would suspect something, so he could only put the money away, then rolled his eyes and said, "I've seen this boy before, just today. He said he had a commission worth five pounds. I thought about it and felt that the price was too high, but it would definitely be troublesome. I don't want to get involved in these kinds of things, so I refused."
Lynch smiled. He guessed that Mr. Fool must have remembered the words he had reminded him of in his diary on Sefirah Castle, which was why he quickly refused.
This was within his expectations, since Klein hadn't commissioned Mr. Azik to kill Qilingus this time, and Miss Justice hadn't given the money she received to the Fool.
Where would Klein get the money to hire someone to kill that ambassador? What if something goes wrong?
So Lynch still gave him a heads-up: if Klein insisted on taking the mission for five pounds, then Mr. Fool should find a way to kill the ambassador himself!
Fortunately, Mr. Fool was quite sensible and immediately refused the request.
"You did a good job refusing. He's gotten himself into some trouble. As payment for scaring you earlier, I can remind you that he's involved in a lot of things."
Lynch took off his hat, bowed to Klein, and then turned and walked toward the door.
Klein stood there for a moment, about to see him off, but just as he reached his side, he saw him suddenly turn around and transform back into an armored ghost, giving him a sinister grin. The Fool was so frightened that his heart almost stopped beating.
"That was great, I found the Nightmare really interesting. Alright, this is truly goodbye!"
Seeing that Klein was quite frightened, Lynch immediately slipped out of Klein's dream. Then he recited a poem to lull Klein back to sleep, and gestured for Bersha to come in.
"Let's do a divination to see if what he just said was true?"
Bersha nodded, then closed her eyes and used Dream Divination.
Yes, he did reject the boy.
Lynch was fairly satisfied and gestured for Bersha to pack her things and leave.
"Hurry, this guy's about to wake up. Oh, and I'll leave him two pennies as payment for his cooperation."
Lynch generously took two ounces of steel from his pocket and placed them on Klein's table, then swaggered out of his house.
After they left, Bersha finally couldn't help but open her mouth.
Two pennies? You're not giving him charity, are you?
Lynch looked at her in surprise, "You mean we should put in more? Then you pay!"
Bersha immediately shut her mouth and moved a little further away from Lynch, afraid that Lynch would really ask her to pay, which she didn't want to pay a single penny!
Dunn was on duty at Chanis Gate tonight, and Lynch went back and reported the results to him.
He shook his head, saying helplessly, "Looks like we'll have to miss out on those two thousand pounds—"
"What?"
Lynch interrupted Dunn.
What did you say?
Is that Ian worth two thousand pounds?
You should have said so earlier!
He should have known better than to remind Klein at Sefirah Castle. It's just a matter of Klein paying ten thousand pounds, isn't it?
This is nowhere near as good as him getting a thousand pounds.
Moreover, Dunn only allowed Daly and Bersha to accompany him to do this, so even if it's divided, the team gets half, and the rest is split among the three of them, so he can get at least three hundred pounds!
Was it all destroyed by Klein?
I should really give Klein a good scare in my dreams!
"Two thousand pounds is a lot, but you don't have to go this far, do you?"
Dunn glanced at Lynch helplessly; this young man just loved money.
However, he suspected that Lynch might be using the money to track down Ince Zangwill, so he pursed his lips and sighed helplessly.
"Finding Ince Zangwill isn't urgent, and even if you did find him now, it wouldn't be of much use. You're just a mere Nightmare right now, and you've only just taken the Nightmare Potion; it'll take a long time to digest it!"
How could that be?
Lynch immediately called out.
"I've already digested some of my Nightmare Potion. Just today, in that Detective's dream, I gave him a good scare. The Potion digested really quickly, Dunn. I suspect it won't be long before I can take the Soul Assurer's Potion."
Lynch recounted in detail how he frightened a guy, including the guy's pale face and wide eyes.
Dunn kept sighing as he listened.
He was indeed no match for young people like Lynch, who had mastered the method of digesting Nightmare so quickly, unlike him, who had no idea how to play the role of Soul Assurer.
"I think Soul Assurer should stay in the morgue, or you should work at the cemetery."
Lynch was giving Dunn advice.
Dunn had finally gained some confidence after digesting the Nightmare, but now, with the Soul Assurer's Potion having no effect, he's almost becoming withdrawn.
"I'll give it a try, the cemetery—"
Dunn hesitated for a moment and decided to go to the cemetery to think of a solution, but Lynch interrupted him.
"Take Miss Daly with you. This is one of Daly strengths. She might know how to help you. You're not planning to figure it out by yourself, are you? Miss Daly has been looking for opportunities to get closer to you. You should give her that chance. Otherwise, how will you two develop a relationship?"
Lynch offered him advice, Dunn listened attentively, nodding occasionally.
However, after he finished listening, he looked at Lynch with a hesitant expression, which made Lynch feel goosebumps.
"What's wrong? Don't tell me you've fallen for someone else!"
Lynch crossed his arms in front of his face; he wasn't into that kind of thing.
Only Leonard would covet the captain's backside.
"Don't talk nonsense. I was just thinking, with someone as capable as you, why don't you find a woman to marry? Want me to introduce you to one?"
Lynch:----
How did talking about Dunn lead to him being dragged into this?
"Need not!"
He gritted his teeth and stopped Dunn from doing so.
Dunn frowned at him, and after a long while, as if he understood something, Dunn said, "I understand. I will write to that lady to apologize. She should know your feelings for her."
Lynch:----
Please be clear, which lady is it?
"That's the lady who came to the Nighthawks squad last time, the one I made you behead in front of her. I remember her as Miss Elizabeth. You liked her, and after she was terrified, you never had a girlfriend again."
Dunn noticed his question and explained.
Lynch's lips twitched.
That was his wealthy older sister; he had absolutely no romantic intentions towards her.
He spent quite a while explaining to Dunn that he and Elizabeth had no relationship, but Dunn didn't believe him and insisted on writing a letter to Elizabeth.
Finally, Lynch had no other choice. He could only wipe his face and say helplessly, "Alright! Captain, I'll tell you the truth! I really want to avenge Klein. I'm willing to risk my life for it, and I don't want to find a girlfriend, so please don't introduce any ladies to me. I won't consider anything before I avenge Klein!"
Dunn fell silent.
His gray eyes turned sorrowful and pitying, then finally to anger.
After Lynch left the office, he wrote a long, accusatory letter to the Holy Cathedral.
Finally, he wrote with sharp words: It is cruel not to tell Lynch that Klein is not dead, because Klein can't even get married. The Sanctuary should not distrust a poor young man who is favored by the goddess!
