I'm Going Too

Klein aside Klein's despair, Lynch was in a much better state. After being dragged to Sefirah Castle by Klein, he had become much more sober.

After tidying himself up, he headed to the security company.

He was going to report to Dunn about his Potion digestion, so that Dunn could familiarize himself with the Acting Method in advance and see if he could get some contribution credits. He needed a considerable amount of contribution credits to upgrade to Sequence 8.

When he arrived, Rozanne was dozing off at the table. When she heard Lynch's voice, she looked confused.

"Lynch? What brings you here? Have I been sleeping all day?"

"I'm still a bit dazed," Rozanne asked.

Lynch:...

If that were the case, Rozanne would probably have been taken to the hospital by Dunn instead of sitting here chatting with him.

"No, you can go back to sleep!"

He lowered his voice and quickly walked to Dunn's office.

Dunn wasn't on duty at Chanis Gate today and was in his office looking at documents when he saw Lynch come in, and he looked surprised.

"If I remember correctly, you just got off work this morning. Why are you here so suddenly? Did something happen?"

Dunn stood up; he seemed ready for battle.

"No, Captain, listen to me!"

Lynch walked over and pressed Dunn back into his chair, then said excitedly, "Captain, I've digested the Sleepless's Potion!"

Dunn looked at Lynch calmly, seemingly without a hint of surprise, as if he had known all along that Lynch would be able to master the Potion so quickly.

Lynch was about to exclaim that Dunn truly lived up to his reputation as a veteran Beyonder, managing to remain calm in the face of such a situation.

But soon he heard Dunn's amused voice say, "You're so disrespectful! Instead of resting, you came here just to joke with me. Go home now, you haven't forgotten you haven't slept all night, have you?"

Okay, so you just didn't believe me.

"Dunn, it's true. I've been feeling the Potion digesting rapidly all this time, and just today, I felt like I had it all figured out. It was a feeling."

I spoke with Klein, and he also thinks I've digested the Potion, so I came to tell you as soon as possible. I don't know when I can take Sequence 8 Potion.

Lynch feigned excitement.

Dunn didn't speak for a moment. He lit his pipe, took a few puffs unconsciously, and then remembered that Lynch had quit smoking.

Even Daly didn't master Potion this quickly.

Lynch looked into Dunn's incredulous eyes and nodded seriously.

Poor Dunn, because he didn't master the Acting Method and felt inferior about his age, missed out on being with Daly.

He gave a brief account of his "experience".

"I suspect there must be a trick to how I mastered Potion so quickly. Klein's words today reminded me; he told me to stop imitating you guys and to go to sleep."

I think what he meant was that I'm almost becoming a true Sleepless, so I'm wondering if my mastery of Potion is related to the names of the Potion. I've been staying up all night lately, and you all keep telling me not to become a true Sleepless."

Lynch's words were fairly reasonable, Dunn nodded thoughtfully. "You're right. Daly also warned me, about how I could become a true Nightmare."

He sighed. He hadn't understood that sentence before, but now he realized how much he had missed.

He glanced at Lynch, then sighed and looked out the window.

He might really be getting old. Daly could think of that, Lynch could think of that, and even Klein, who now goes to the Divination Club every week, probably thought of that too. Only he stayed here, taking his Potion as usual.

"I will report this to the Holy Cathedral. You cannot take Potion until the Holy Cathedral gives me a reply. I don't mean to doubt you, but taking Potion requires caution, and I don't want you to waste your life on something like this."

Dunn patted Lynch on the shoulder.

Lynch said it was no problem and stood up to say goodbye, but Dunn called him back.

"You'll need to do some more work before you can use your Sequence 8 Potion. Don't rush it; it's better for you to take it slow."

Six o'clock in the afternoon.

Lynch was woken up by Rozanne from the sofa in the lounge.

"I'm about to leave work, and you should go home too. You can't really stay here overnight, can you?"

Rozanne put on her sun hat and waved goodbye to Lynch.

Lynch nodded, got dressed, and was about to leave when he saw Dunn, Leonard, and Frye walking outside together, each carrying a lock.

Lynch stayed at the security company instead of going home, all in preparation for this to happen.

Going to see Hainasen was a serious matter; he needed to make sure Hainasen wouldn't expose him.

Thinking of this, Lynch immediately followed them.

"Captain, I want to go too!"
