Background / History

The Ling Clan is a Dou God Clan based in the Ling Realm. Though it retains a formidable inheritance, its Dou God bloodline had been thinning for generations; elders estimated that it could be exhausted within ten thousand years. Before Ling Yuan's rise, Ling Mie—then a late-stage Six-Star Dou Sheng—was the clan's strongest member, leaving the clan weaker than the Gu, Yao, Lei, Yan, and Soul Clans. 1 2

The clan's decline made it the Soul Clan's intended first target in its campaign to gather the Tou She Ancient God Jade. Ling Yuan became Young Clan Leader because his seventh-grade bloodline at age ten was the strongest the clan had seen in a millennium, offering hope that the Ling bloodline could recover. 1 2

Ling Yuan's actions steadily changed the clan's position. He brought back the Ten Thousand Bodies Origin Return Technique, enabling Ling Mie and others to use avatars for accelerated cultivation, and acquired the Soul Spirit Bead, a clan treasure previously recognized by his grandfather. 35 62 63 The clan also aided Zi Yan's ascension as Dragon Emperor, creating a close alliance with the Ancient Void Dragon Clan. 51 57 82

After the Soul Clan destroyed the Shi Clan, the Ling Clan sheltered its survivors in exchange for control of their remaining resources and Heavenly Tomb quotas. 110 111 119 It later formed a mutually beneficial alliance with the Yao Clan, which migrated near the Ling Realm and Dragon Island for protection. 114 256 257

Ling Yuan's eventual breakthrough to Dou Di restored the Ling Clan's dormant Dou Di bloodline. Its nourishment caused clan-wide breakthroughs, elevated the clan's number of Dou Sheng experts to over one hundred, and established the Ling Clan as the strongest force on the Douqi Continent. 272 324 Afterward, the remnants of the Gu, Yan, and Lei Clans across the continent were eradicated, and their accumulated resources replenished the treasuries of the Ling Clan and Ancient Void Dragon Clan. 273

Territory and Organization

Ling Realm

The Ling Realm is a self-contained realm created by a past Ling Clan Dou God and maintained by generations of Dou Sheng experts. Its heaven-and-earth energy is dense enough to make cultivation at least twice as fast as outside. 35

  • Entry is restricted to those with the Ling Clan's Dou God bloodline; even Dou Zun outsiders generally remain in Lingyuan City. 35
  • Most Ling descendants can reach Dou Huang or Dou Zong within the realm's cultivation environment. 35
  • The central plaza hosts major clan functions, including coming-of-age bloodline tests conducted with the Star Pulse-Testing Disk. 150
  • At one point, the realm's perimeter was guarded by more than ten Dou Sheng experts from both the Ling Clan and Ancient Void Dragon Clan. 221
  • Following Ling Yuan's ascension, the Ling Realm became the center of a restored Dou Di bloodline whose nourishment allowed its inhabitants to experience widespread breakthroughs. 272 324

Lingyuan City

Lingyuan City lies outside the Ling Realm and serves as a settlement for affiliated factions, rogue cultivators seeking protection, and guards of the realm entrance. 35

  • Dou Zong and Dou Zun experts are common among its residents. 35
  • The Snake-People Clan was granted a prime settlement there as a second-tier vassal clan through Medusa's association with Ling Yuan. 58

Spirit Domain

The Spirit Domain is the clan's soul-cultivation inheritance ground. It contains Soul Spirits, formed from the souls of deceased clan members, which can be hunted and refined into Spirit Liquid. 58 59

  • Access is reserved for the clan's most talented members so limited Soul Spirit resources are not wasted. 59
  • Soul pressure within the domain compresses and stabilizes the cultivator's improved soul. 59
  • Ling Yuan's parents each advanced from the middle Spirit Realm to Spirit Realm Grand Perfection through the inheritance ground. 57

Ancestral Hall

The Ancestral Hall is a restricted area within the Ling Realm. 38

  • Elder Ling Niu, associated with the hall, was exposed as a Soul Clan infiltrator branded by the Nihility Devouring Flame. 104
  • His discovery raised concerns that other Dou God Clans' ancestral halls could likewise have been infiltrated. 104

Bloodline and Clan Marks

The Ling Clan's Dou God bloodline determines cultivation potential and clan standing. The clan's widespread bloodline decay left most of its younger generation at fifth- or sixth-grade bloodlines. 2 150

Bloodline / Mark Known Details
Fifth-grade bloodline Example: Ling Huo; awarded a Silver Clan Mark. 150
Seventh-grade bloodline Example: Ling Tian; normally receives a gold mark, but was exceptionally granted a Purple-Gold Clan Mark as the second-ranked young talent. 150
God-Grade Bloodline Ling Yuan's top-tier result shattered the Bloodline Testing Star Disk and confirmed the clan's future potential. 151
Seven-Colored Clan Mark Exclusive mark engraved on Ling Yuan by Ling Mie; temporarily boosts combat power and aids cultivation. 151
Restored Dou Di Bloodline Ling Yuan's ascent to Dou Di reawakened the clan's bloodline nourishment, producing widespread cultivation breakthroughs among Ling descendants. 272 324

A God-Grade Bloodline is considered sufficient to guarantee a cultivator's eventual rise to Nine-Star Dou Sheng if they do not die prematurely, making Ling Yuan's result a turning point for the clan. 150 151

Ling Yuan's later Dou Di breakthrough transformed that promise into reality: the bloodline feedback was strongest for relatives closest to him and enabled a large number of Ling Clan members to enter the Dou Sheng realm. 272 324

Abilities & Skills

Soul Cultivation

The Ling Clan primarily cultivates the soul. Its core methods can integrate soul power into Dou Qi, forcing opponents to defend against both physical and soul damage. 2

  • Soul-based Dou Skills are particularly effective against magical beasts, whose physical bodies may be powerful while their souls are comparatively weaker. 46
  • The clan's Four-Star Dou Sheng elders used soul attacks to incapacitate the Three Great Dragon Kings during the Dragon Island unification campaign. 56 57
  • Ling Yuan's soul attacks, including the Soul Spirit Bead, could disrupt multiple Dou Sheng opponents during battle and create openings for Zhu Kun. 225
  • Ling Yuan's soul cultivation eventually reached the Emperor Realm before his breakthrough to Dou Di, further strengthening the clan's foremost combatant and strategic leader. 213 272

Ten Thousand Bodies Origin Return Technique

Ling Yuan obtained this high-value technique during his training journey and gave it to Ling Mie. 35

  • Users can cultivate external avatars, then return their accumulated cultivation and insights to the original body. 58 63
  • It allows breakthroughs to be built gradually through clones, provided sufficient time and resources are available. 63
  • Ling Mie cultivated eight avatars, each at One-Star Dou Emperor, while Ling Yuan established multiple clones for cultivation and survival. 63
  • The technique contributed to Ling Mie's breakthrough to Seven-Star Dou Sheng and later progress. 36 80

Soul Spirit Bead

A Ling Clan inheritance treasure that absorbs and refines Soul Origin. It recognized Ling Yuan as its master. 62 63

  • Accelerates soul cultivation through refined Soul Origin. 63
  • Later absorbed lightning and evolved, improving its soul-attack lethality. 206
  • Ling Yuan used it to strike five Dou Sheng opponents in a single engagement. 225

Puppet Refinement

The Ling Clan, through Ling Yuan, accumulated corpses and souls for puppet refinement. 110 137

  • Captured or slain Dou Sheng bodies could become combat assets. 110 137
  • Ling Yuan eventually supplied Ling Mie with dozens of puppets below Seven-Star Dou Sheng to defend the Ling Realm and Dragon Island. 239
  • The resulting puppet army was described as surpassing the Ling Clan's own conventional force. 239

Dou Di Bloodline Nourishment

Ling Yuan's ascension to Dou Di restored the Ling Clan's bloodline at its source, allowing it to nourish descendants and remove bottlenecks that had constrained the clan for generations. 272 324

  • Ling Clan members from Dou Zun to low-star Dou Sheng experienced breakthroughs as the restored bloodline awakened. 272 324
  • Members more closely related to Ling Yuan received the greatest benefit from the bloodline feedback. 272 324
  • The nourishment produced more than one hundred Dou Sheng experts from the Ling Clan alone, excluding puppets and Ancient Void Dragon Clan allies. 272
