History

Initial Grand Plan

The Soul Clan sought the eight pieces of Tou She Ancient God Jade to open the Tou She Ancient God's Cave Mansion and pursue the opportunity to become a Dou God. Hun Tiandi intended to use Nihility Devouring Flame for this objective, while Nihility Devouring Flame secretly planned to exploit the clan and betray Hun Tiandi once the cave mansion was opened. 52

When Hun Tiandi entered seclusion to heal, Nihility Devouring Flame took control of daily affairs. He ordered the seizure of the Xiao Tribe's Ancient Jade, preparations against the Ling, Shi, and Yao Clans, and expanded soul collection through Hun Miesheng and the Soul Hall. 52

The original plan relied on ancestral-hall moles to steal the Ancient Jades at a critical moment. Zhu Kun's actions caused the other Dou God Clans to transfer their jades into their patriarchs' personal custody, forcing the Soul Clan to consider direct attacks against the clan leaders instead. 101

Shi Clan Annihilation

The Soul Clan's plan was disrupted when the remaining clans placed their Ancient Jades under their patriarchs' personal custody, making theft through ancestral-hall spies impractical. Hun Tiandi responded by targeting the Shi Clan and planning to frame Zhu Kun for its destruction. 101 104

Nihility Devouring Flame, Hun Jing, and Hun Sha infiltrated the Stone Realm, destroyed its Clan Protection Array, sealed its space, and attacked the Shi Clan. The operation nearly exterminated the clan, but Zhu Kun and Ling Yuan arrived; Hun Jing and Hun Sha were killed, while Nihility Devouring Flame escaped with the Shi Clan's Ancient Jade. 104 105 107 110

The massacre exposed Nihility Devouring Flame's connection to the Soul Clan and prompted the remaining Dou God Clans to regard the faction as an open threat. 109 111

Destruction of the Soul Hall

Ling Yuan and Ling Mie raided Soul Hall branches, learned that Hun Miesheng had ordered intensified soul collection, and uncovered cores of the Soul-Devouring Life-Extinguishing Array. 130 131

The Gu, Yan, Lei, Yao, and Ling Clans then coordinated against the Soul Hall. Hun Miesheng was surrounded at the Heaven Hall, sent an emergency signal to the Soul Realm, and was deliberately abandoned by Hun Tiandi and Nihility Devouring Flame to avoid Gu Yuan's trap. 135 136 137

With Hun Miesheng dead and the formation exposed, the allied clans destroyed the Soul Hall's major halls and began a continent-wide purge of its remaining branches. This severed Nihility Devouring Flame's principal channel for gathering souls. 136 137

Covert Resurgence

After a period of concealment, the Soul Realm reopened and released hundreds of Dou Zun-or-stronger operatives into the Central Plains. 158

These agents covertly provoked conflicts in regions outside the Central Plains, waited for combatants to exhaust one another, and harvested the blood and souls of the dead. Their activities were exposed through information passed to the Yao Clan, leading the major clans to hunt Soul Clan operatives across the outer continents. 159 168

Unable to retreat in time, several surrounded operatives self-destructed rather than permit the other Dou God Clans to extract intelligence on the Soul Realm or the clan's plans. 168

Open Warfare and Collapse

Hun Tiandi and Nihility Devouring Flame later launched a surprise assault on the Yan Realm, killing more than a dozen Dou Sheng elders and using the attack to spread accusations against the Ling Clan and Ancient Void Dragon Clan. 174

The Soul Clan subsequently cooperated with Zhu Kun against the Gu Clan, though Hun Tiandi and Ling Yuan remained wary of one another and pursued conflicting strategies during the war in the Ancient Realm. 223 227

After suffering major injuries, Hun Tiandi retreated to the Soul Realm and attempted to lure Ling Yuan and Zhu Kun into the Emperor-Slaying Array. They withdrew rather than enter the trap. 235

Believing Gu Yuan had died by self-destruction and that the Ling Clan and Ancient Void Dragon Clan had been severely weakened, Hun Tiandi led nearly a hundred Soul Clan Dou Sheng to ambush them. The discovery of Gu Yuan's dimmed Tou She Ancient God Jade reinforced the Soul Clan's mistaken assessment. 250 251

Following the later conflict, Ling Yuan and Zhu Kun destroyed the Emperor-Slaying Array. They found the Soul Realm abandoned and uncovered the blood pool that revealed the scale of Hun Tiandi's sacrifices; the Soul Clan was thereafter described as practically destroyed. 254
