Yu Xiaogang intervenes when a gatekeeper at Nuoding Junior Spirit Master Academy insults Old Jack, Tang Yu, and Tang San. He verifies that their Martial Soul Hall certificates are genuine, apologizes for the academy's conduct, disciplines the gatekeeper, and accepts responsibility for the two boys. 7 8

Though he initially insists that he is a “Grandmaster” rather than an academy teacher, he recognizes Tang San's Twin Martial Souls through deduction: Blue Silver Grass alone could not produce Innate Full Soul Power. He accepts both Tang San and Tang Yu as disciples. 8

While taking the brothers to the Soul Hunting Forest, Yu Xiaogang reveals his mutated martial soul, Luo Sanpao.
