Not to mention, the God of Death already had the ability to hear Liu Yuan's thoughts.
He had also known Liu Yuan for a long time, so he understood Liu Yuan's personality very well.
So Liu Yuan didn't need to say a word. The God of Death had already guessed what he was thinking.
However, he didn't agree with Liu Yuan's idea. He shook his head and said:
"I know what you're thinking. You want to get revenge on Yu Xiaogang, right?"
"But as I just said, the clone created using the Ghost Mask can only have, at most, one percent of your true body's strength."
"You need to think about how strong you are right now. Although your true body has already reached the Soul Ancestor level, and you could take on many Soul Emperors in a real fight, that's your true body, not your clone. With only one percent of your strength, your clone probably couldn't even beat Yu Xiaogang himself."
"So getting revenge on him is completely out of the question."
"By my estimate, if you want your clone to be strong enough to kill Yu Xiaogang, you'll need to reach at least the sixth ring. That's taking into account how high the levels of your later Soul Rings will be. Otherwise, even someone with six rings might not be able to kill Yu Xiaogang if they can only use one percent of their strength."
The God of Death explained it to Liu Yuan one point at a time.
After hearing what the God of Death said, even Liu Yuan, despite being desperate for revenge, had to admit that he had a point.
So he had no choice but to put aside his plan to hunt down Yu Xiaogang for now. His top priority was to raise his cultivation to level sixty as soon as possible. Only then could he get revenge on Yu Xiaogang.
He thought for a moment, then looked toward the God of Death beside him.
"In that case, I'll put that plan on hold for now."
"But if I can't kill Yu Xiaogang, surely there's no problem with going back to Soul Village for a look?"
"It's been a long time since I went back. I'm a little concerned about how the village is doing."
Liu Yuan asked the God of Death.
This time, the God of Death didn't stop him. Instead, he nodded and said, "That shouldn't be a problem. You can send your clone there while your true body stays here to continue the inheritance."
Liu Yuan nodded to the God of Death. "All right."
He soon put the plan into action.
Leaving his true body behind to continue receiving the inheritance at the God of Death's inheritance site, he sent his clone in the direction of Soul Village.
The journey took nearly a month. Before, Liu Yuan hadn't been able to reach the inheritance site not because it was particularly far away, but because of the God of Death's trials. And his strength was now vastly greater than before. Even so, the journey was still a long one.
After a great deal of effort, he finally made it back to the outskirts of Soul Village.
Everything around Soul Village still looked much the same as before.
On the way, he even passed the patch of land where Tang San and the others had buried him alive. Liu Yuan stood there, looking at the ground. A few shovels still lay there—the very ones Tang San and the others had left behind that day. It all felt as though it had happened yesterday.
After seeing this, Liu Yuan stood in silence for a long time, a blazing fire seemingly burning in his dark eyes.
He reminded himself once again that he had to grow stronger and obtain the inheritance.
Then he would repay Tang San and Yu Xiaogang, bit by bit, for the humiliation he had suffered that day.
He lingered a while longer before finally turning away and making his way back to the entrance of Soul Village.
This time, though, he only wanted to take a look from the shadows. He simply wanted to see how the villagers were doing. As for revealing himself to them, that could wait until the day he obtained the complete inheritance, became the new God of Death, and left the Land of Inheritance.
Otherwise, knowing too many secrets wouldn't be a good thing for the defenseless villagers.
But something was amiss as soon as he slipped into the village.
After sneaking in, he saw that many of the villagers had minor injuries.
"What happened?"
Liu Yuan's brow furrowed at once, and a fierce, murderous look appeared in his eyes.
He began checking the houses one by one, only to find that many of the villagers were injured. As luck would have it, he also overheard a few villagers discussing how they had come to harm: a band of nearby bandits had robbed them.
"Bandits? They're asking for death!"
Liu Yuan flew into a rage as soon as he learned what had happened.
He didn't stay in the village. Instead, he turned and headed straight for the bandits' stronghold.
To Liu Yuan, the villagers were like family. He simply couldn't stand by and watch them suffer at the hands of bandits.
He soon reached the bandits' stronghold and kicked its gates open.
The bandits were startled by his actions. But when they saw that their visitor was a masked figure with the build of a young boy, their expressions turned cold. "Where'd this little punk come from? He's got a death wish. Chop him up!"
A few groups of bandits immediately charged at Liu Yuan.
Liu Yuan sneered and summoned his Martial Soul.
Though he could only use one percent of his strength, the bandits in front of him were a bunch of worthless thugs. Most of them didn't even have Soul Power, and the few who did didn't have a single Soul Ring.
Why would Liu Yuan fear a bunch of nobodies like them?
He took out a scythe and, with a single slash apiece, cut down every bandit who came at him.
One after another, the bandits were struck by Liu Yuan's scythe and died on the spot, their bodies left in pieces.
But Liu Yuan's expression remained calm.
As the inheritor of the God of Death, killing was as simple to him as eating or drinking. He wouldn't bat an eye even if he killed every last one of these bandits, let alone a few of them.
So he kept walking toward the bandits, scythe in hand.
Meanwhile,
The bandits had all been full of bravado at first.
But when they saw their companions cut down in just a couple of moves, they realized this boy was no ordinary opponent. They sensed an utterly terrifying murderous aura coming from him—one that nearly scared the piss out of them.
At once, the bandits lost their nerve.
One after another, they dropped to their knees and begged Liu Yuan for mercy, kowtowing repeatedly.
"Sir! Hero! What have we done to offend you? Please spare us!"
"We'll do anything you ask if you'll just spare us!"
