Background

Liu Yuan was originally a child of Soul Village. After awakening the Great Scythe martial soul and displaying level-thirty innate soul power, he rejected Yu Xiaogang and Flender's attempt to recruit him into Shrek Academy and make Yu Xiaogang his master 3.

Yu Xiaogang, Tang San, and their companions subsequently regarded Liu Yuan's talent as a future threat. When villagers tried to protect him, Liu Yuan surrendered to spare them, but was taken away and buried alive after refusing to become Yu Xiaogang's servant 6. The Death God rescued him, offered him a path to revenge and succession, and transported him toward the inheritance grounds 7.
