Background / History

The Death God is an ancient and exceptionally powerful deity who had held his divine position for so long that he found it tedious. Seeking retirement, he chose Liu Yuan as his successor and offered him the Death God inheritance without demanding any price beyond accepting the role. He described the completed Death God godhood as capable of making even gods die with ease. 7

He tested Liu Yuan through a two-year journey toward a black pillar of light. The seemingly unchanging distance was a trial of patience and perseverance; after Liu Yuan endured it, the Death God personally received him at the inheritance site. 10

Throughout Liu Yuan’s inheritance, the Death God explained and supported the successor’s developing powers, including the Death Domain and the Ghost Mask’s independent clone. He did not interfere when Liu Yuan sent a clone after Yu Xiaogang. 15 17 22

After Liu Yuan completed the inheritance, the Death God formally stepped down and prepared to retire. Liu Yuan required three days to fully integrate the transferred power. 130

Later, the God of Judgment located the former Death God in the Chaos Forbidden Zone, where he was trapped fighting regenerative Stone Men and powerful animated statues. Having lost the enhancement of his divine position, his strength had declined to the early God Emperor Realm. Liu Yuan joined him, repeatedly protecting him during their battles. 185 187 188

Upon learning that the God of Devouring had returned, the Death God recognized the danger immediately. He explained that the God Realm had once paid an enormous price to defeat the enemy: the God of Creation died, while the Dragon God was severely wounded. He returned to the God Realm to support the God of Judgment, entrusting Liu Yuan with continuing through the Chaos Forbidden Zone for its ancient inheritance. 190

Despite this pride, he is patient as a mentor. He personally explains Liu Yuan’s inherited abilities and later places faith in him during the dangers of the Chaos Forbidden Zone. 15 17 186

After losing his godhood, he shows vulnerability in battle but remains pragmatic and selfless. Once he learns of the God of Devouring’s return, he prioritizes the God Realm’s survival over pursuing the Chaos Forbidden Zone inheritance for himself. 187 190

The Death God contacts Liu Yuan after he is buried alive and offers him the chance to inherit divine power for revenge. He then tests Liu Yuan’s endurance through the prolonged journey to the inheritance site. 7 10

Guiding Liu Yuan’s Inheritance

He oversees Liu Yuan’s inheritance process, explains the successor’s newly gained powers, and permits Liu Yuan to act on his revenge without intervention. 15 17 22

Retirement and Succession

Liu Yuan completes the inheritance and becomes the new Death God, allowing the original holder to retire from the divine position. 130

Chaos Forbidden Zone
