Background and History
The God of Devouring began as an obscure Third-Class God. His ability to convert the energy of those he killed into his own power brought him rapid advancement. The Death God urged the God Realm's four rulers to execute him before he became a threat, but they did not agree: the God of Creation protected him, the Dragon God dismissed the danger, and the God of Judgment would not punish him before he committed a crime 167 168.
On a mission outside the God Realm, he ambushed and devoured the Sword God. He subsequently lured other deities away under various pretexts; ten First-Class Gods died within ten years. When the four rulers united to pursue him, he placed part of his divine power in a Ferocious Demon Bird. They followed its aura away from the God Realm while he remained behind and devoured its deities 168.
By the time the rulers returned, he had consumed the God Realm's God Kings and could contend with their combined power. Their battle killed the God of Creation, drove the Dragon God mad, and scarred the God of Judgment. The four destroyed the God of Devouring's body, but his soul escaped into space-time turbulence and survived 169 190.
After Liu Yuan killed Tang San, the God of Devouring saved Tang San and offered him revenge in exchange for assimilation. He also merged with Yu Xiaogang. The resulting being shared their personalities, with the God of Devouring dominant, Tang San second, and Yu Xiaogang least dominant 170 171.

His identified form after the mergers resembles Tang San 171.
Personality
The God of Devouring is proud of his past destruction and presents himself as the deity most feared by the God Realm. He favors deception when it offers a route to greater power, as shown by his ambush of the Sword God and his diversion of the four rulers 168 170.
He also recognizes when to withdraw. After Liu Yuan countered his devouring power, he urgently told Tang San to leave before other powerful gods could arrive 174.

The God of Devouring absorbs external power and converts it into his own, enabling unusually rapid growth 167 173.
