Background / History

Born as Yu in Xiaozhang Village, Qian Renyu was raised by his mother, Gu Xiyuan, a former Tianyun City Martial Soul Branch employee with the Jade Sword martial soul. His father was publicly unknown; Gu Xiyuan had only implied that the man’s status was far above her own. Yu experienced poverty and hunger while growing up. 2 3

Qian Daoliu sensed a bloodline affinity with the child and investigated his origins. He confirmed that Yu was the posthumous illegitimate son of former Pope Qian Xunji, then brought him to the Worship Hall and named him Qian Renyu in accordance with Gu Xiyuan’s wishes. 2 3

After learning that Qian Daoliu was his grandfather and Qian Renxue his older sister, Renyu embraced his place within the Qian family and Martial Soul Hall. He also activated an unreliable system that gives rewards according to its own whims rather than clear tasks. 4

At six, Renyu awakened the inherited Six-Winged Angel martial soul alongside the Qingshuang Sword, producing a continent-wide celestial phenomenon. His innate soul power measured at Level 20. 5

He is ambitious, calculating, and politically assertive. He uses his knowledge of future developments to shape Martial Soul Hall, push institutional reforms, seize strategic resources, and cultivate alliances. He is also willing to challenge Pope Bibi Dong publicly when he believes her interests conflict with the Hall’s. 11 14 31 32

Renyu possesses a firm will and readily takes cultivation risks when he judges them worthwhile, such as absorbing rings far beyond normal expectations. 6 23 However, he is also cruel and vindictive toward Tang San and Xiao Wu, repeatedly using his status and attendants to humiliate or injure them. 17 19 24 30 39
