Background / History
Tang Hao trained in the outskirts of the Star Dou Great Forest alongside his elder brother, Tang Xiao. While pursuing spirit beasts for training, he encountered Ah Yin after she restrained him with Blue Silver Grass to stop him from harming an injured Soft Bone Rabbit. He was immediately captivated by her. 14
Tang Hao and Ah Yin later had Tang San. When Ah Yin was exposed as a 100,000-year-old Blue Silver Emperor in human form, Tang Hao refused to return to the Clear Sky Sect, believing that doing so would endanger it. He fled toward the Star Dou Great Forest with Ah Yin and their newborn child, but Qian Xunji intercepted them. Ah Yin sacrificed herself to save Tang Hao and Tang San, healing Tang Hao and leaving him with a 100,000-year soul ring. In retaliation, Tang Hao used the Great Sumeru Hammer and detonated his soul rings against the Martial Soul Hall forces. 22
Afterward, Ah Yin vanished from the cave where Tang Hao had kept her. Unable to find any trace of her, Tang Hao descended into a severely neglected life in Holy Soul Village, becoming known for drinking, laziness, and vacant behavior. 28
As Tang San grew up, Tang Hao concealed both his identity and Tang San's Clear Sky Hammer. He instructed Tang San not to reveal or cultivate the hammer, telling him to use it to protect the Blue Silver Grass in his other hand. 34 He later personally accompanied Tang San to obtain a second soul ring and arranged for him to attend Shrek Academy so that their identities would remain hidden. 49
Tang Hao eventually confronted Nan Xuan at Blue Silver Valley, believing Nan Xuan was connected to Ah Yin's disappearance. He and Tang San attempted to seize information by force, but Nan Xuan's Saint Emperor Judgment forced Tang Hao to use Ring Detonation and the Great Sumeru Hammer merely to withstand the attack and escape. 54
Seeking strength and resources for Tang San, Tang Hao returned to the Clear Sky Sect and demanded that it re-enter the world. He secured the elders' support by revealing Tang San's twin martial souls, ten-thousand-year third soul ring, and Hidden Weaponry designs. 57 After Tang Xiao defected to Network Holy City and emptied the sect's liquid funds, the elders appointed Tang Hao as the new Sect Master. 62
During the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament, Tang Hao openly appeared to save Tang San from Bibi Dong and Nan Xuan. He detonated all eight available rings and used the Great Sumeru Hammer to create an escape route, then gave Tang San the techniques' secrets and his storage soul tool before detonating his final ring to hold off their enemies. 80
Tang San later recovered Tang Hao's undying soul from the God's Tomb and brought him to the Douluo Underworld. Reunited with Tang Chen, Tang Hao committed himself to revenge against Nan Xuan. 135 After resurrection, he fought Tang Xiao during the war at the Evil Demon Forest, detonating his rings and ultimately self-destructing in an unsuccessful attempt to kill him. 162 With his soul still able to escape, Tang Hao chose reincarnation alongside Tang Chen. 164
Appearance
Before his first death, Tang Hao is a tall, sloppily dressed middle-aged man. He later returns to the Clear Sky Sect in concealed, unusual clothing, but his resurrected body is described by opponents as resembling a walking corpse. 55 57 160
- Carries and fights with the Clear Sky Hammer martial soul. 22
- Wore a hood when returning to the hidden Clear Sky Sect. 57
- His post-resurrection appearance is visibly unnatural enough for Tang Xiao to mock him as a “walking corpse.” 160
Personality
Tang Hao is fiercely protective of Tang San, though his protection often takes the form of secrecy, intimidation, and desperate violence. He hides Tang San's Clear Sky Hammer, personally escorts him during soul-ring hunts, and sacrifices himself so Tang San can escape the tournament battlefield. 34 49 80
He is impulsive and deeply driven by resentment. His grief after Ah Yin's sacrifice leads him to attack Qian Xunji despite the opposing force, and his suspicion of Nan Xuan later provokes another confrontation that he cannot win. 22 54 Even after resurrection, he remains committed to revenge and ultimately self-destructs against Tang Xiao. 135 162
Despite his reputation as a powerful fighter, Tang Hao doubts his suitability as a sect leader. He considers himself better suited to support Tang San than to govern the Clear Sky Sect, and deliberately builds Tang San's political standing at the Heaven Dou Imperial Palace. 76
