Chapters 327–351 Vol. 4 Read

Ch. 327Guesswork

Cyril fought Olivia and a gray-clad follower of the Great Mother in a bar, then escaped after a devastating explosion. A Silver Knight and a military officer arrived, and the officer began preparing a purge of the active Elves on Sonia Island.

  • Cyril used Dawn Armor and a greatsword of dawnlight to wound Olivia, then unleashed Storm of Light against her and the gray-clad man.
  • The gray-clad man drained Olivia to restore his strength and attacked Cyril, but struck a lifelike portrait instead of Cyril himself.
  • Cyril hurled a blue flaming spear through the gray-clad man's seals, causing an explosion that destroyed the bar and apparently killed Olivia and the follower.
  • A Silver Knight arrived and questioned Cyril, who identified the dead man as a Gifted follower of the Great Mother; the Silver Knight let Cyril leave, citing an oracle from the God of Combat.
  • A military officer learned that the Elves had grown more active and said the Empire would likely organize a purge of their strongholds on Sonia Island.
  • The Twilight Sword Squad arrived at the ruined bar.

Ch. 328Ordinary Friends...

  • Cyril asked Adam about a believer of the Mother Goddess of Depravity and learned that she wanted to give birth to him again, while Adam said the High-Dimensional Overseer opposed her and fate correcting him.
  • Cyril refused to choose who should become the Calamity of Destruction, then confirmed Adam had left by tossing a Gold Horn and divining.
  • Cyril and Haven arrived in Midseashire and agreed to prepare a story before facing Cyril’s parents’ questions.
  • Cyril found Klein aboard the White Agate, explained that following him could help digest his Scribe potion, and played a harmonica as flying fish leaped from the sea.
  • Archbishop Horamick Haydn and the Machinery Hivemind questioned Arrodes about the royal family’s angels; the mirror showed multiple angelic figures confronting one another and later revealed a crimson figure surrounded by flame-like lights.

Ch. 329Lucky Coin

Cyril boarded the White Agate under the name Randolph Carter and joined Klein and Captain Elland after they encountered a fish-man on deck. The group gathered for a meal of fish-man meat and wine, while Cyril’s supposed Lucky Coins drew Klein’s skeptical attention.

  • The Machinery Hivemind captain failed to answer Arrodes, was struck by green lightning, and left with wild curly hair and charred patches.
  • Cyril met Captain Elland outside his quarters and paid for a first-class cabin under the name Randolph Carter.
  • Cyril sensed activity on deck, and Elland explained that former adventurers were hunting a fish-man after arranging for the patrols to stay away.
  • Elland shot the fish-man, and Cyril joined Klein and two children before giving the children two Gold Horns he falsely called Lucky Coins.
  • Cyril admitted to Klein that the coins were not specially blessed, though his Spirituality could detect them nearby because he often used them for Divination.
  • Elland invited Cyril and Klein to share fish-man meat and stories, then poured his Sonia Blood Wine for himself and Cyril.

Ch. 330Night Talk

Cyril joined Captain Elland, the passengers, and crew for dinner on the White Agate, where talk turned to Bansi Island and the bounty on the Mystic Queen. A letter from Trissy arrived by messenger, and Cyril concealed his powers while easing Klein’s fear and entertaining the children, as Krivis and Elland each tried to interpret what they had witnessed.

  • Elland explained that the White Agate would sail from Damir Port straight to Tiana Port and could not approach Bansi Island because the Church of Storms had barred access to its waters.
  • Cyril said he hoped to visit Bansi Island and finish what the Church of Storms had failed to do, while Elland announced that the Loen authorities had raised the Mystic Queen’s bounty to two million pounds.
  • At dinner, a letter appeared before Cyril, and Edfana’s malice terrified Klein until Cyril used Immunity to Fear to calm him.
  • Cyril read Trissy’s letter asking for clues about her next Sequence, then burned it and used his powers to chill Danton’s tea and warm Donna’s.
  • Krivis recognized Cyril as a powerful Beyonder, while he and his companion chose not to reveal that they knew his identity.

Ch. 331"Flames" Danitz

Cyril and Klein traveled aboard the White Agate while Tobias gave Trissy the Demoness of Affliction potion formula and asked her to spread his Lord’s name. • Tobias appeared before Trissy, gave her the Demoness of Affliction potion formula, and asked her to quietly spread his Lord’s name in the East District.
  • The White Agate reached Damir Port, where Elland told his first mate to pretend not to recognize Cyril and avoid unnecessary trouble.
  • Cyril spotted his and Queen Mystic’s wanted posters, then destroyed every poster bearing his likeness in the port.
  • Danitz met Klein in an alley and said Klein had seemed like a bloodthirsty monster, while Cyril recognized Danitz and teased him.

Ch. 332Ins and Evil Spirits

Cyril confronted Medici Sauron Einhorn, who was possessing Ince Zangwill, after the evil spirit trapped a family in overlapping nightmares and unleashed ghosts. Cyril drove Ince away, saved the family, and found a torn notebook page where he had vanished, leaving him to wonder whether Fate or an Author had influenced Medici’s choice.

  • Klein questioned Danitz about White Shark, then left; Cyril asked Danitz about high-bounty pirates and learned that Admiral Disease and one of Admiral of Hell’s captains were nearby.
  • Cyril sensed danger near the docks and arrived as Krivis, Uludi Blanche, and his family were caught in frightening dreams and surrounded by undead.
  • Cyril recognized Ince Zangwill as the vessel for Medici Sauron Einhorn, who claimed he had come to greet Donna and Danton.
  • Cyril used Exile to drive Ince away, then imprisoned and burned the remaining ghosts and undead.
  • Cyril returned Danton’s Gold Horn after using it to soothe the family, and Uludi thanked him before taking everyone back toward the White Agate.
  • Cyril found a torn notebook page where Ince had vanished and wondered whether Fate or an Author had caused Medici to choose Ince.

Ch. 333Tobias's Past

Cyril investigated Ince Zangwill’s cryptic message and learned that the Red Angel evil spirit sought a sacrifice on Bansy Island to draw power from the City of Calamity. Back aboard the White Agate, Tobias began recounting his past, including his service to the God of Death and the origins of his contamination.

  • Cyril used a Crystal Ball to examine Ince Zangwill’s note, found that its message had been deliberately obscured, and destroyed it.
  • Captain Elland and the Blanche Family thanked Cyril, who refused their payment and explained how Donna and Danton could use their Lucky Coins to contact him.
  • Danton told Cyril he had seen a man held by a three-mouthed monster, while Krivis said his memories remained fragmented and unclear.
  • Cyril reasoned that Medici had tried to use him to escape the struggle within the evil spirit, then recorded Ince Zangwill on Bansy Island and learned that the group planned to use 0-08 to create a deadly story.
  • Tobias told Cyril he had followed the God of Death, participated in the Pale Disaster, and later gained a Weather Warlock Beyonder Characteristic that he believed had been corrupted from the start.

Ch. 334The White Agate's motley passengers

Tobias recounted surviving the Pale Disaster and learned that Azik Eggers was alive, while Cyril proposed using Adam’s help to confront Tobias’s other self. Aboard the White Agate, Klein, Danitz, Cyril, and Tobias encountered one another as a pirate ship approached, leaving Cyril considering how to salvage its loot.

  • Tobias told Cyril that he had served as a Balam Empire legion commander, escaped the Pale Disaster, and obtained a Weather Warlock characteristic from the fallen God of Death.
  • Cyril told Tobias that Azik Eggers was alive and suggested they enlist him to deal with Tobias’s other self, with Adam providing support.
  • Tobias went on deck, where Klein noticed him and Danitz boarded the White Agate; Tobias then recognized a Demoness and made her lead him toward her room.
  • Cyril joined Klein and Danitz for lunch, told Klein that Tobias might help Azik recover his memories, and noticed a pirate ship approaching.
  • Captain Elland ordered the passengers back to their cabins, while Cyril asked Danitz how they could salvage the pirates’ loot if the ship sank.

Ch. 335Sinking a Ship with One Strike

Cyril destroyed the Red Skull Pirates’ ship with a single Flame Spear, and the White Agate’s crew salvaged the pirates’ valuables. The chapter ended with Captain Elland bringing Cyril the recovered loot and offering to pay the pirates’ bounties in advance.

  • Cyril transported himself, Danitz, and Klein to the bow, where his authority compelled the White Agate’s crew to lower their rifles.
  • Cyril identified the approaching ship as belonging to the Red Skull Pirates, whose captain and first mate had modest bounties.
  • When the pirates tried to flee, Cyril infused a harpoon with azure flame and hurled it, splitting their ship in two and sinking it.
  • Cyril asked Captain Elland to organize the salvage and offered him a tenth of the recovered goods; Danitz explained the costs and risks of maintaining pirate ships.
  • Danitz told Klein about famous ghost ships, including the Black Emperor, the Whispering Eater, and the Blue Avenger.
  • Elland brought Cyril valuable salvage and reported that the pirates’ captain, “Sea Wolf” Jensen, and first mate, “One-Eyed” Anderson, had bounties of £900 and £500.

Ch. 336Alista Tudor's Arrival

Cyril hosted Klein, Azik, and Tobias, who helped Azik recover memories and explained the fall of the Four Emperors and the Pale Disaster. As they reached Bansi, Tobias sensed a transforming Wraith, and Cyril revealed their plan to hunt a true Angel.

  • Elland offered Cyril a share of the salvage or the pirates’ heads, and Cyril let him take the heads while keeping the Beyonder Characteristics for Elland’s crew.
  • Klein and Azik arrived at Cyril’s room, and Cyril summoned Tobias, who recognized Azik and discussed his unstable condition and lost memories.
  • Tobias recounted Azik’s past and warned that remembering too much could restore his former cold nature.
  • Tobias told Klein and Cyril that the Four Emperors fell one after another and described how the God of Death and the Primordial Demoness unleashed the Pale Disaster.
  • As the ship reached Bansi, Tobias sensed a Wraith transforming on the island, and Cyril said they would hunt a true Angel.
  • Azik sensed that a higher power was interfering with the Spirit World, while Tobias asked everyone to join his legion so he could gather power and protect them.

Ch. 337The Team

Tobias, Azik, and Cyril joined forces against the other Tobias while the battle threatened the White Agate. Azik then confronted Ince Zangwill on Bansy Island, where the evil spirit possessing him realized Azik was only wielding the power of a Saint.

  • Tobias used the Conqueror characteristic to enlist Azik's Undead in his temporary army, while Klein glimpsed the strange, blood-red battlefield through Tobias's vision.
  • Azik summoned the Bronze Gate and a projection of the River Styx; Tobias found the enemy and unleashed a power that drove the sea and living things toward death.
  • Cyril protected the White Agate from decay and calmed the waves, while Klein learned from Elland that angels were fighting nearby.
  • Cyril used a recorded ability to push the White Agate away from the Fog of War as the battle between the two Tobiases sent immense waves across the sea.
  • On Bansy Island, Ince Zangwill used 0-08 to write a story that would bring a powerful Spirit World Creature to help him escape, then let the evil spirit in him fight Azik.

Ch. 338The Timing

Klein, Cyril, and Azik confronted Ince Zangwill and the evil spirit Medici Sauron Einhorn, but both escaped by different means. As Tobias’s battle with the Terror Giant continued, a will awakened from the Weather Warlock characteristic appeared and tried to claim the giant.

  • Miss Messenger dropped Ince Zangwill before Klein and Cyril, and Azik began using the Language of the Dead to pull Medici Sauron Einhorn from Ince’s body.
  • Klein struck Ince and Medici with Frenzy and Mental Piercing, but Medici unleashed the City of Cataclysm’s aura and fled into the Spirit World, while Ince used 0-08 to escape with a Spirit World creature.
  • Azik chose not to pursue either fugitive, then warned Klein and Cyril that Tobias was likely to lose unless they found a way to support him.
  • Cyril told Azik that another helper was available and prepared to use the Harmonica as Tobias’s fight against the Terror Giant continued.
  • Tobias used Mind Deprivation infused with War Cry to hinder the Terror Giant, which recovered and hurled a flaming spear at him.
  • A black-robed will emerged before the Terror Giant, revealed itself as a fragment awakened from the Weather Warlock characteristic, and urged the giant to become the second Nether Emperor.

Ch. 339"Leodero!"

Tobias used Salanger’s crown and mental attacks to subdue the Flame Giant, but the Lord of Storms’s lightning destroyed the contaminated Weather Warlock characteristic before Tobias could recover it. After the battle, Azik left to process newly recalled memories, while Klein dealt with Creeping Hunger’s bloodthirsty effect.

  • Tobias overwhelmed the Flame Giant with mental attacks, and Salanger’s crown began awakening a second will inside him.
  • Tobias called on Leodero, and the Lord of Storms unleashed a lightning storm that devastated Bansi Island and destroyed the contaminated characteristic.
  • Cyril pulled Tobias into a deeper dimension with a Black Curtain, where Tobias prayed to a great existence for help and survived the lightning strike.
  • Tobias returned to the White Agate, confirmed that the Lord of Storms had destroyed the characteristic, and left before the Church of Storms could arrive.
  • Azik told Klein that his newly recalled memories were cold and death-filled, then departed to process them.
  • Cyril noticed Klein suffering Creeping Hunger’s bloodthirsty effect, and Klein decided to put it above Gray Fog to air out.

Ch. 340Script

After Klein absorbed the abilities of a conquered witch, Medici obtained the Weather Warlock characteristic from the ruins of Bansi and escaped. A Church of Storms Saint boarded the White Agate, forcing Klein to warn Danitz, who tried to decide how to hide.

  • Tobias gave Klein the living-dead witch as payment, and Klein fed her to Creeping Hunger after divining that she had not been tainted by sin or killed innocents.
  • Cyril told Klein that one other Conqueror characteristic was with Amon and another lay underground in Trier, while Klein demonstrated the witch’s black-flame and frost abilities.
  • Medici caught the Weather Warlock characteristic in Bansi, absorbed it, and left for the Spirit World as Ouroboros arrived too late to meet him.
  • Cyril woke to a powerful spiritual sweep over the White Agate, and Ace Snake of the Church of Storms arrived aboard the ship.
  • Klein warned Danitz that a Church of Storms Saint was on board and advised him to disguise himself or seek Randolph Carter’s help.
  • Danitz decided to use makeup to blend in before attending the captain’s mass, while Klein privately doubted his disguise skills.

Ch. 341Monday

Aboard the White Agate, Klein and Cyril encountered Spellsinger of God Ace Snake while the ship hurried toward Tiana Port. At the Tarot Club, members arranged several transactions, and Cyril proposed selling three Vampire characteristics to the Sanguine for ten thousand pounds, which Emlyn accepted.

  • Cyril disguised himself as Sherlock Moriarty and explained that the disguise was partly meant to take advantage of Ace Snake's recognition of the detective and partly because he found it fun.
  • Ace Snake recited a prayer that soothed the dining room, recognized Sherlock Moriarty, and continued to the lower cabins while Klein and Danitz worried over his piercing gaze.
  • The White Agate's attendant explained that spoiled supplies had left the ship with poor food, and the captain had ordered the ship to speed toward Tiana Port.
  • At the Tarot Club, Audrey agreed to buy Elder Tree fruit and Mirror Dragon blood from Emlyn, while Derrick arranged to exchange Vampire characteristics for Radiant Spirit-Contract Tree fruit and two mystical items through Cyril.

  • Alger asked about Bansi, and World revealed that the dead sea and ruined island were only the aftermath of a battle fought offshore.
  • Cyril explained that the Church of Storms had not solved Bansi’s underlying pollution and said the Lord of Storms had destroyed much of the island and killed the God of Weather.
  • Cyril named the Angel-level participants, leaving the Tarot Club members shocked and prompting Klein to realize that several of them were fallen or weakened Angels.
  • World asked the members to help him buy a wireless telegraph receiver, and Fors offered to try.
  • Audrey, Fors, Emlyn, and Alger shared news about Backlund’s investigations, the lingering effects of the Great Smog, and conditions at sea; Alger suspected World was a Blessed and wondered who supported Fate.

Ch. 343A Handsome Head Worth 3,000 Pounds

At a Tarot Club gathering, Cyril revealed that he had killed a Loen officer corrupted by the Great Mother, while Klein considered seeking an Angel’s help with contaminated Beyonder characteristics. After the White Agate reached Tiana Port, Cyril and Klein continued toward Bayam under the watch of concealed Mandated Punishers, and a storm gathered as the port came into view.

  • Alger recounted the escalating dispute between Loen and Feysac over an assassinated officer on Sonia Island, and Cyril said he had killed the corrupted Loen officer.
  • The Tarot Club members speculated about the Great Mother, then ended the gathering after Mr. Fool predicted that they would take on new appearances the following week.
  • Klein considered asking Tobias to help remove contamination from a Beyonder characteristic, while Cyril met Ace Snake aboard the White Agate and reported suspicious passengers.
  • The White Agate docked at Tiana Port, where Danitz worried that Gehrman Sparrow might collect the 3,000-pound bounty on him; Ace Snake left, but concealed Mandated Punishers remained aboard.
  • Cyril stayed in his room to paint as the White Agate sailed on, and the ship reached Bayam the next afternoon beneath gathering storm clouds.

Ch. 344Everyone Had More Money Than Me

Klein let Danitz go, but the pirate was attacked by Steel Mavity and later followed Klein and Cyril for safety. Meanwhile, Emlyn arranged a trade for Vampire characteristics and offered the payment and a Radiant Spirit-Contract Tree fruit to Mr. Fool, leaving Klein to wonder why everyone had more money than him.

  • Klein told Danitz he was free to go, and Cyril said he planned to stay in Bayam and watch events unfold as a Scribe.
  • Emlyn agreed to buy three Vampire characteristics from the Sanguine for 12,000 pounds and considered how to fund a Baron inheritance without selling his dolls.
  • Steel Mavity attacked Danitz, but Cyril frightened him into fleeing before Klein and Cyril healed Danitz and heard his unfinished last words.
  • Klein declined to pursue Steel Mavity because it was raining, and Danitz followed him and Cyril for protection.
  • Emlyn obtained a Radiant Spirit-Contract Tree fruit and sacrificed it along with the anonymous accounts to Mr. Fool, who sent him the three Vampire characteristics.

Ch. 345Each in Their Own Way

Derrick advanced to Solar High Priest, Audrey drank the Psychiatrist potion, and Cyril continued preparing for his plans while consulting Edefana and commissioning mystical items from Bock Griffin. Cyril later met Klein in Bayam and discussed the supposed key to Death’s Treasure before returning through the Spirit World.

  • Cyril visited Bock Griffin and offered Beyonder Characteristics as payment for crafting mystical items; Bock revealed he had left the Moses Ascetic Order.
  • Cyril met Klein in Bayam and discussed Admiral of Iceberg’s supposed key to Death’s Treasure, agreeing that it was likely not a true key to the God of Death’s treasure.

Ch. 346Edefana's Discovery

Edefana discovered that Groselle's Travels was connected to an ancient dragon and asked Cyril to bring him to the book's world. In Bayam, Cyril sent Edwina Danitz's warning about the Admiral of Blood, while Klein prepared to seek the Hanged Man's help in hunting Steel Mavity.

  • Mistral told Nibis that Emlyn had obtained three Vampire Beyonder Characteristics, and Nibis planned to send them to the Duke of the Full Moon to verify their origins.
  • Edefana told Cyril to trade for Groselle's Travels, explaining that Herabergen's gaze had warned him away from the book and asking to accompany Cyril aboard the Golden Dream.
  • Cyril agreed to send Edwina Danitz's message warning that the Admiral of Blood was targeting the key, and Edefana delivered it using his messenger.
  • Danitz asked Cyril to pass along his warning and objected to Cyril sharing his sketch with Edwina, but Cyril refused to alter it without extra payment.
  • Gehrman Sparrow asked Cyril about hunting Steel Mavity and the Admiral of Blood; Cyril suggested involving the Hanged Man, then Klein prayed to the Fool for a hint and sent the request to the Hanged Man.

Ch. 347The Hermit Eric Drake

Alger met with The World to offer cooperation, while Edwina learned Danitz had been attacked by Steel Mavity and that Admiral of Blood Senor was targeting the Golden Dream. Cyril met the hermit Eric Drake, who asked about Bansi, and Cyril revealed that the God of Weather had been corrupted.

  • Alger interpreted The Fool’s message as a chance to establish his loyalty and arrange a meeting with The World.
  • Edwina received drawings showing Danitz’s attack and learned that Senor was targeting the Golden Dream, though her divination indicated Danitz was safe.
  • Alger met a young man he believed was The World and offered him a Tarot reading.
  • Cyril and Danitz ate grilled fish, and Cyril recognized Anderson Hood as the man Danitz had quoted.
  • Eric Drake appeared beside Cyril and put Danitz to sleep before asking about Bansi and the Lord of Storms’ destruction of the sea region.
  • Cyril told Eric that the God of Weather had been corrupted.

Ch. 348Dream

Cyril interrupted Eric’s dream interrogation of Klein and drove Eric into the Nation of the Evernight, after which Klein escaped the dream and found Eric still sitting in his room. The chapter ended with Klein asking Cyril what had happened to Eric.

  • Danitz woke from a dream, while Cyril wondered whether Eric had probed Danitz’s memories and might investigate Gehrman Sparrow.
  • Klein met Alger for a divination, revealed the Wheel of Fortune card, and left the café as Alger considered the encounter a test.
  • Eric drew Klein into a dream, questioned him about Bansi, and explained the abilities of Dreamwalkers.
  • Cyril entered the dream, used Mystical Reenactment with the Dark Sacred Emblem, and caused Eric to vanish into the Nation of the Evernight.
  • Klein escaped the dream and found Eric sitting motionless in his room, then asked Cyril whether Eric was dead.

Ch. 349Ambush and Surprise

Klein and Cyril killed Eric Drake’s body and recovered his Demigod-level Beyonder Characteristic, while Klein considered the Goddess’s role and his own exposure. Later, Cyril stole the Sealed Artifact Eternal Dream during a Mandated Punishers operation and intervened when Klein and Danitz were overwhelmed by Steel Mavity’s group.

  • Cyril burned Eric Drake’s body after Eric’s unconscious form began to transform, and Klein collected the Beyonder Characteristic that remained.
  • Cyril gave Klein a Dark Sacred Emblem as protection and explained that Eric was a colleague’s separated identity whose true body remained in the Mind World.
  • Klein took the Sequence 4 Manipulator Characteristic above the Gray Fog and released the Nightmare soul from Creeping Hunger to make room for Steel Mavity.
  • Cyril watched a Mandated Punishers operation at Danitz’s house, stole the Sealed Artifact Eternal Dream, and vanished.
  • Huntley struck Danitz with lightning as Steel Mavity’s group cornered him and Klein, but Cyril arrived, drove back the Werewolf, and confined the battlefield.

Ch. 350Admiral of Blood

Cyril and Klein fought Admiral of Blood Senor, Steel Mavity, and the Werewolf after Cyril trapped them beneath Sun Holy Water and imposed supernatural rules on the sealed area. Klein and Cyril killed Mavity and escaped with Danitz, while Senor survived and fled just before Sea King Jahn Kottman arrived.

  • Cyril opened a golden Sealed Artifact and summoned Sun Holy Water, freeing Klein from Senor's Wraith Possession and weakening the attackers.
  • Huntley used wind and vines to shield himself and trap Cyril's group, while Cyril's rules and Klein's attacks turned the fight against Senor, Mavity, and the Werewolf.
  • Senor's misdirected attack killed Huntley, and Cyril pinned the golden box to Senor before killing Mavity with a Death attack.
  • Lightning shattered Cyril's Closure, so Klein gathered Cyril, Danitz, and Mavity's corpse and escaped with them as Cyril weakened the storm's effects.
  • Senor escaped with Mirror Blink after lightning struck him, and Jahn Kottman arrived and decapitated the surviving Werewolf.

Ch. 351Bad Luck

Klein and his companions escaped the Church of Storms, while Klein’s divination connected Eric Drake to the Nation of the Evernight and the name Adam. Senor sought help from Shanks to endure the backlash from his luck-enhancing artifact, but a Sea King attacked them in Bayam.

  • Klein knocked out a tenant, and Cyril used a psychological suggestion to keep him from remembering their intrusion before leading Klein and Danitz through a Door.
  • Klein sensed a powerful presence passing through the Spirit World, then used Creeping Hunger to consume Steel Mavity’s corpse and soul.
  • Cyril interfered with divination and tracking, then concluded that Senor would likely survive his misfortune but suffer a severe backlash afterward.
