Chapters 352–376 Vol. 4 Read

Ch. 352Walking into the Net

Klein and Cyril killed Senor after Shanks’s attack was disrupted by Jahn Kottman, and Klein grazed Senor’s abilities and Spirit Body. The chapter ended with Nibis asking Emlyn to arrange a larger, long-term trade in contaminated Moon pathway Characteristics for the Sanguines.

  • Sun Holy Water purified the area as Shanks’s curse and Jahn Kottman’s lightning struck a Mystic Puppet, leaving Jahn injured and his curse aura fading.
  • Senor used Mirror Blink to escape Shanks, but the rules forced him out of the Mirror World and Cyril imprisoned him with transparent liquid.
  • Cyril’s Ferryman ability weakened Senor, and Klein arrived and helped kill him with Creeping Hunger’s abilities.
  • Klein grazed Senor’s Spirit Body and devoured his corpse, but learned he had not obtained the flesh-and-blood magic needed to claim Senor’s forty-two-thousand-pound bounty.
  • Shanks concluded Senor had died and resolved to find a replacement for the Rose School of Thought’s maritime informant, while Jahn Kottman searched Bayam for the Rose School of Thought.
  • Nibis told Emlyn that the Duke of the Full Moon wanted more contaminated Moon pathway Characteristics, and Emlyn said the supplier should be able to provide them.

Ch. 353Rising Worth

Cyril and Klein dealt with the aftermath of Admiral of Blood Senor’s death as the authorities raised the bounties on Cyril, Danitz, and Gehrman Sparrow. With Danitz newly worth 5,000 pounds and under surveillance, Cyril took him away from the inn and planned to use one of Danitz’s properties in Bayam.

  • Cosmi questioned Nibis about buying Sanguine characteristics, and Nibis warned him not to investigate the organization behind the purchases.
  • Cordova Royer reported Senor’s death and the recovery of Sealed Artifact 2-166 to Sea King Jahn Kottman, while Jorgory confirmed that a Grade 1 Sealed Artifact would arrive soon.
  • Cyril gave Danitz Steel Mavity’s head for the bounty, and Klein revealed that he had killed Admiral of Blood Senor the previous night.
  • Danitz explained that his captain could use abilities she had seen, while Klein left to practice acting as a Faceless on Simim Island.
  • Cyril encountered Alger, and Alger later saw new bounty notices for Randolph Carter, Danitz, and Gehrman Sparrow before Cyril’s wanted poster burst into flames.
  • Cyril rescued Danitz from surveillance near the Azure Wind Inn, confirmed Danitz’s bounty had risen to 5,000 pounds, and decided to take him to one of his Bayam properties.

Ch. 354A Lively Dream

Cyril and Danitz settled into Danitz’s empty house, where Cyril created and magically stabilized furniture before entering Danitz’s dream to speak with Edwina. Klein later joined the dream, and Edwina began judging how best to answer his questions while Danitz endured the gathering’s awkward antics.

  • Cyril filled Danitz’s empty house at 14 Fragrant Tree Avenue with furniture made from Fantasy, then planned a ritual to keep it from disappearing.
  • Cyril sensed Edwina’s will enter Danitz’s dream and used a doorway to join them, where he asked to learn her modified Dream Divination spell.
  • Edwina agreed to send Cyril the spell’s knowledge and asked him to protect Danitz, then taught Danitz the spirit descent ritual.
  • Klein entered Danitz’s dream, and Cyril created drawings that poked fun at Danitz and the awkward silence between Klein and Edwina.
  • Edwina asked Klein about his education and explained that she needed to gauge his knowledge before answering his questions.

Ch. 355Book of Calamity

Cyril killed Latitia, an out-of-control Beyonder who had hidden the Book of Calamity inside her body, then discovered that the book was connected to the Sea God Kalvetua’s growing instability. He gave the book to Edfana, who said she could alter the lingering will of Cohinem within it.

  • Cyril broke into Latitia’s room and fought through her storm of ice, fire, and lightning before killing her and retrieving the Book of Calamity from her body.
  • After burning away the room’s residual spirituality, Cyril escaped the inn as Latitia’s companions discovered her corpse and decided to flee Bayam and the sea.
  • Cyril returned to Number 14 Fragrant Tree Avenue, where Klein told him that Kalvetua had lost control and that the resistance was hunting adventurers who had taken something from the Sea God’s ruins.
  • Cyril showed Klein the Book of Calamity and said he would explain more after studying it, then summoned Edfana with his Harmonica.
  • Edfana recognized the book as connected to Cohinem and said she could alter the spirit’s lingering will; a violent wind carrying calamity swept through the room.

Ch. 356Storm

Cyril and Edefana sealed Cohinem’s will inside the Book of Calamity, while Alger reported signs of trouble surrounding Sea God Kalvetua to the Church of Storms. After a sudden storm revealed a new ability in Cyril, Klein arrived and asked him to locate Kalvetua’s ruins through the Spirit World.

  • Edefana quieted Cohinem’s will in the Book of Calamity and proposed turning the book into a living Sealed Artifact; Cyril entered a dream to witness Cohinem’s past.
  • Alger received the World’s report that the resistance forces had taken the Book of Calamity, were selling a strange bone sword, and that Sea God Kalvetua was out of control.
  • Alger told Bishop Jorgory about the stolen relic, the bone sword, and the Sea God’s apparent troubles, prompting Jorgory to report the matter to Kottman.
  • Edefana sealed Cohinem’s consciousness and the Book of Calamity, then offered to use hypnosis and the fragments of Cohinem’s spirit to help Cyril control it.
  • Cyril experienced and reproduced a sudden localized storm, then Klein asked whether he could use the Spirit World to locate Sea God Kalvetua’s ruins.

Ch. 357Red Light

Klein summoned Red Light Aiur Moria, who agreed to help him find Kalvetua’s ruins and conceal the Sea God’s fall from Ayan Kottman long enough for Klein to claim its remains. As Kalvetua neared its end, Klein anticipated that witnessing the catastrophe might complete his Scribe Potion digestion, then joined the Tarot Club meeting.

  • Klein asked Cyril about contacting Red Light Aiur Moria and recruiting a messenger, and Cyril explained the rituals and suggested ways to find one.
  • Klein summoned Aiur Moria, who located Kalvetua through information in the Spirit World and offered to delay Ayan Kottman’s response and block his divination after Klein claimed Kalvetua’s remains.
  • Aiur Moria offered to become Klein’s messenger, but Klein declined and asked instead how to summon an ordinary Spirit World Creature.
  • Cyril observed the storm around Bayam and concluded that Kalvetua would not survive the night, while he wondered whether witnessing the Sea God’s fall would finish digesting his Scribe Potion.
  • At the Tarot Club meeting, Audrey apologized to Mr. Fool because she had been unable to obtain Roselle’s Diary from the Psychology Alchemists.

Ch. 358The Surprised Members of the Tarot Club

At the Tarot Club, Emlyn failed to secure a Vampire Characteristic or the Sanguine Baron inheritance and asked how to make money. The members learned that Sea God Kalvetua was collapsing after the Book of Calamity was stolen, while Cyril revealed that he possessed the dangerous artifact; the gathering ended with Alger suggesting Emlyn hunt wanted criminals for their spoils.

  • Emlyn asked Derrick about buying stronger Vampire Characteristics, but Derrick said he could not hunt stronger Vampires or hire help yet.
  • Alger told Emlyn that he could not arrange the Sanguine Baron inheritance until he left Bayam, which depended on Sea God Kalvetua's impending death.
  • Alger explained that Kalvetua was a sea serpent worshiped in the Rorsted Archipelago and was making a final attempt to destroy Bayam before the Sea King defeated it.
  • Cyril revealed that the Book of Calamity contained a Sequence 2 Beyonder Characteristic and part of Queen of Calamity Cohinem's will, and explained how its removal had caused Kalvetua to collapse.
  • Cyril said he had obtained the Book of Calamity after its previous holder lost control, and the Tarot Club realized he possessed a Grade 0 Sealed Artifact.
  • Emlyn asked how to make money quickly, and Alger advised him to hunt wanted pirates or criminals and collect their bounties and possessions.

Ch. 359Speculation

At the Tarot Club, Emlyn considered borrowing money to become a Potions Professor, while the members discussed Backlund’s poor, pirate rumors, and the supposed key to Death’s Treasure. After the gathering, Klein offered to take Cyril to witness Kalvetua’s death, then discovered the powerful mystical items Cyril owned as Cyril opened an illusory door.

  • Cyril offered Emlyn a loan to advance to Sequence 6 and become a Potions Professor, and The World and Justice also offered loans before Emlyn said he would think about it.
  • Fors shared that Backlund’s poorest districts had filled with outsiders again and that evil cults were targeting the lower classes, prompting The World and Cyril to debate whether people could change the worsening conditions.
  • Alger reported that Admiral of Blood Senor had died after ambushing Danitz, and Cyril said the rumors about the key to Death’s Treasure were false; The World explained that a true key would likely be a concept rather than an ordinary object.
  • Audrey connected The World to Danitz’s mysterious helper and wondered whether The World’s true identity was related to Mr. Fool.
  • After the Tarot Club ended, Klein told Cyril that Red Light Aiur Moria had supplied the ruins’ Spirit World coordinates, and Cyril agreed to witness Kalvetua’s death to help digest his Scribe potion.
  • Klein’s Spirit Body entered Cyril’s room and saw his powerful mystical items, including a Phantom Core that seemed to be at Demigod level, before Cyril opened an illusory door with a transparent crystal.

Ch. 360The Final Struggle

Cyril entered the ruins where the dying Sea God Kalvetua was hiding, recorded its condition, and struck it with Mind Breath before taking a transparent crystal. Kalvetua’s final eruption threatened Bayam, but Sea King Jahn Kottman suppressed the storm and waves.

  • Red Light Aiur Moria guided Klein and Cyril through the Spirit World to the ruins where Kalvetua was hiding.
  • Cyril used a Magic Mirror to view Kalvetua, then received a Paper Angel blessing and entered the ruins while Klein watched from above the Gray Fog.
  • Cyril recorded the Plague Storm and used Mind Breath to stun Kalvetua before taking a transparent crystal and escaping to the Spirit World.
  • Kalvetua unleashed a storm that threatened Bayam, and Jahn Kottman used a Grade 1 Sealed Artifact to suppress the catastrophe.

Ch. 361Out of Control

Cyril’s Plague Storm destroyed Kalvetua’s remaining mind, and he and Klein waited until the Sea God died before entering the ruins. They subdued the maddened high priest, but after Kalvetua’s will possessed him, he transformed into a grotesque monster and lost control.

  • Cyril’s Plague Storm accelerated Kalvetua’s collapse, and he summoned Klein while they waited for the Sea God to die.
  • Cyril confirmed Kalvetua’s death, then stopped the charging Sea God guards and Klein purified their bodies with the Sun Brooch.
  • Cyril forbade the desecration of Kalvetua’s corpse and weakened its lingering wraith remnants, causing its Beyonder Characteristics to gather at a tooth in the pillar.
  • Kalvetua’s remaining will tried to possess the high priest, while the Plague Storm drove him and the Sea God guards mad.
  • Klein attacked the high priest with Wraith Shriek, ice, and golden Air Bullets as Cyril imprisoned and struck him with his abilities.
  • The high priest transformed into a tentacled, scaled half-wolf, half-fish monster and completely lost control.

Ch. 362A Step Too Slow

Cyril and Klein defeated the rampaging monster in Kalvetua’s underwater ruins and tried to sacrifice the spoils, but the ritual overwhelmed Klein and was interrupted. Cyril escaped Sea King Jahn Kottman, and later witnessed Klein answer the Sea God’s believers; the scene completed Cyril’s Scribe potion digestion.

  • Cyril punished the monster for damaging the ruins, then trapped and burned it while he and Klein escaped the hall’s flames.
  • Cyril separated the Beyonder Characteristics and began sacrificing them and Kalvetua’s corpse, but Klein struggled to haul the enormous corpse above the Gray Fog and was forced out.
  • Cyril fled the ruins in a Golden Carriage as Sea King Jahn Kottman arrived, found the spoils gone, and ordered an investigation into Sun Pathway Beyonders and mystical items.
  • Cyril returned to No. 14 Fragrant Tree Avenue and discussed with Klein how to guide the Sea God’s believers without promising to save them.
  • At dawn, Cyril watched Klein appear to the grieving believers on Blue Mountain Island and declare, “I have returned,” completing Cyril’s Scribe potion digestion as he recorded the scene.

Ch. 363Traveler

Cyril advanced to Traveler, discovered his ability to travel through dimensions and use a private Inn, and explored his new powers. The chapter ended with him entering the Garden of Eden in the collective subconscious, where his Traveler potion began to digest further.

  • Cyril prepared and drank the Traveler potion, resisted the pull of an unknown “Heaven” with the help of his anchors, and returned safely to his body.
  • Cyril tested his new Blink ability and entered the Inn, finding that he could access it through an illusory door and travel to other dimensions and alternate spaces.
  • Cyril assessed his Traveler abilities, including Positioning and Invisible Hand, and realized his advancement had left him with extra characteristics and potions to digest again.
  • Cyril followed a mental coordinate through a door into the Garden of Eden in the collective subconscious and explored its animal city.
  • Cyril felt his Traveler potion begin to digest as he followed the guidance toward the center of the animal city.

Ch. 364Adam's Sincerity and Generosity...

Cyril questioned Adam about his slow potion digestion, recurring dreams, and the Tarot Pathway suited to him, while Adam explained the dangers of spiritual imprints and proposed that Cyril could become the Lord of the Mysteries. Adam revealed that Primordial God Almighty could influence him even before His will fully awakened, then showed Cyril the second Blasphemy Slate and the Wheel of Fortune Pathway.

  • Cyril asked Adam whether He had soothed him during an advancement and why his potion digestion was slowing; Adam explained that Cyril was dismantling Celestial Worthy's spiritual imprint and that the resistance would grow stronger as he advanced.
  • Cyril left a coordinate in the Corpse Cathedral and asked about his repeated dreams; Adam said they were a seal that Cyril would understand after becoming a Secrets Sorcerer.
  • Cyril drew the Magician, Wheel of Fortune, and The Lovers from Adam's Tarot deck, and Adam admitted He had changed the order of Cyril's previous draw while guiding him toward the Door Pathway.
  • Adam proposed that Cyril become a Great Old One before the Apocalypse and said the Lord of the Mysteries was the best route for him; Cyril rejected the idea and suggested Primordial God Almighty might have inspired it.
  • Adam confirmed that Primordial's will could influence Him, described how Great Old Ones' wills affected their hosts, and recalled the disastrous experiments He had guided Alista Tudor and Cheek to conduct.
  • Adam said Cyril could erase Great Old Ones' spiritual imprints from Beyonder Characteristics and showed him the second Blasphemy Slate, where Cyril began reading the Wheel of Fortune Pathway's Sequence 9 recipe.

Ch. 365Alger's Speculation

Cyril advanced to Sequence 7 and began planning special travels, then joined Klein in dividing the Sea God's spoils and transporting Kalvetua's corpse. Meanwhile, Alger investigated Kalvetua's changed image and suspected a secret alliance, and Cyril summoned Bernadette to arrange for the corpse to be made into a mystical item.

  • Cyril asked Adam where he should travel to digest the Traveler potion, then returned to Klein and asked for the Golden Dream's location.
  • Klein sent Danitz to his room and asked Cyril how to divide the Sea God's spoils; Cyril claimed the Sea God Scepter and believers for Klein and the rest for himself.
  • Alger investigated the Sea God's fall, learned from the Relf Trading Company owner that Kalvetua had taken on a new image, and suspected Mr. Fool and the existence behind Fate were cooperating.
  • Cyril prayed to the Fool and brought Kalvetua's corpse and spiritually radiant objects out onto an uninhabited beach, then sent the objects through an illusory door.
  • Cyril contacted Queen Mystic Bernadette and offered half of Kalvetua's corpse as payment for turning it into a mystical item; he explained that Latissia Dorera's theft of the Book of Calamity had caused Kalvetua's collapse.

Ch. 366Exchange

Cyril sacrificed Kalvetua's corpse to Bernadette, while Jahn Kottman investigated the ritual's lingering aura. Later, Klein and Cyril questioned spirit-descended Danitz before Danitz revealed that Kalvetua was dead.

  • Cyril modified a sacrifice ritual and sent Kalvetua's corpse to Bernadette, who had her crew salvage materials from it and warned them about its lingering illusions.
  • Jahn Kottman arrived at the reef, used a water mirror to investigate the ritual, and strengthened the image with his golden book, but could not identify the veiled figure.
  • Danitz performed a spirit descent ritual, and Edwina answered through him that the Golden Dream would approach Oravi Island in two days and Danitz knew how to contact its crew.
  • Cyril offered Edwina scales from Kalvetua, and Klein asked about changes in Senor's fleet and where Mermaids could be found.
  • Danitz announced that Kalvetua, the Sea God, was dead, and Cyril vanished before giving further details.

Ch. 367The Rose School of Thought's Retribution

Cyril explored the ancient Elf ruins on Simim Island and used Klein’s power to reconstruct the Sea King’s visit and glimpse murals of the Elf King confronting the Ancient Sun God. After returning to Bayam, Cyril arranged to take Danitz to the Golden Dream while Klein was ambushed by a Rose School of Thought Demigod and escaped through a flame-based teleportation.

  • Cyril found the ruins stripped by the Church of Storms and used the Crystal Ball to detect lingering traces of the Sea King’s spirituality.
  • Cyril and Klein reconstructed the Sea King Jahn Kottman’s visit, then saw a brief glimpse of murals depicting the Elf King facing the Ancient Sun God.
  • Cyril returned home and agreed to take Danitz to the Golden Dream, while Danitz offered to help him locate a Beyonder gathering.
  • Klein sensed a Demigod pursuing him and hurried toward the Sea Wave Cathedral, but an elderly Rose School of Thought figure immobilized him.
  • Klein’s Creeping Hunger unleashed blazing light that damaged the attacker’s transparent figure, but the surrounding objects and his clothes then attacked him.
  • Klein escaped the binding clothes by igniting a match and vanishing in crimson flames.

Ch. 368Encounter in the Mirror World

Alger, Klein, and Cyril fought the Rose School of Thought Demigod and Sea King Jahn Kottman before escaping into the Mirror World, where they were attacked by the Demoness Sect’s White Saint, Katarina Pelle, and Black Demoness Clarice. Cyril called on Adam for help, but Katarina warned that the Primordial had already turned its gaze on them.

  • Alger intervened to help Klein, but wraith phantoms trapped him until Cyril used golden rain to destroy them.
  • Klein was wounded by Shanks, then escaped a second attack with help from Cyril’s Exile ability.
  • Cyril weakened Shanks’s freezing gale and shielded the group from Jahn Kottman’s rampaging lightning, but Spirit World travel and Flash were initially blocked.
  • Cyril used Alger’s reflective dagger to lead Klein and Alger into the Mirror World, where they felt a terrifying presence watching them.
  • Klein burned Cyril’s paper bearing the Dark Sacred Emblem and summoned Mr. Azik’s messenger, but an ice spear killed the messenger.
  • Katarina Pelle and Clarice appeared, and Cyril called out to Adam as Katarina said the Primordial had already noticed them.

Ch. 369Melee

Klein, Alger, and Cyril fought Katarina and Clarice inside the Mirror World as Hermes intervened and Sea King Jahn Kottman imposed rules on the surrounding reality. The Mirror World collapsed into the street, where Hermes isolated the supernatural conflict from ordinary people.

  • Katarina unleashed a plague on Klein, Alger, and Cyril, but their powers of dawn, purification, and rules suppressed it.
  • Katarina charmed Klein and Alger, while Clarice trapped Cyril; Cyril escaped and pointed out that Clarice's thoughts were flawed, allowing Hermes to kill her through the Dream Labyrinth.
  • Hermes appeared and confronted Katarina as Tisavica and Gwendolyn revealed themselves outside the Mirror World.
  • Jahn Kottman used his golden book to destabilize the Mirror World and impose rules that weakened mysticism and restricted harm to people and buildings.
  • The Mirror World shattered into reality, and Jahn Kottman faced the Demonesses and Hermes as they emerged onto the street.
  • Hermes invoked rules separating reality from the supernatural and transferred ordinary people and creatures outside the isolated area.

Ch. 370Melee 2

Hermes and Ian Courtman attacked the hostile Beyonders in Bayam while Klein, Cyril, and Alger regrouped and faced the Orange Witch and Clarice. Azik rescued Klein, and as Cyril came close to succumbing to plague, a twelve-winged angel shielded him while allies called upon The Fool.

  • Hermes agreed to help Ian Courtman and used the power of rules to restrain and punish the Witches and Jakes before Ian unleashed a storm of lightning.
  • Klein purified Cyril and Alger, learned that their mysterious ally was Hermes, and stayed in Bayam with them as Alger offered his help.
  • The Orange Witch and Clarice confronted the group, and Klein was caught by the Orange Witch’s allure and petrification before Azik pulled him from the Mirror World.
  • Klein left to seek safety and support the fight above the gray mist while Cyril battled Clarice and began to succumb to her plague.
  • A twelve-winged angel appeared through gray mist and shielded Cyril as two of his Blink clones played a Harmonica and invoked The Fool.

Ch. 371Mirror Projection

Cyril fought Clarice and the Orange Witch in Bayam, using his powers to escape the Mirror World and overwhelm them while Edefana stole the Orange Witch’s Mystical Item. The Primordial Demoness’s Mirror Projection intervened and took the two Demonesses away, but Edefana preserved the restored Planeswalker characteristic before retreating to recover.

  • Clarice used reflections and curses to attack Cyril and tried to pull him and the street into the Mirror World, but he resisted and repeatedly escaped.
  • Cyril disrupted the Mirror World and revealed his terrifying essence, leaving Clarice and the Orange Witch confused and vulnerable while Azik warned himself not to look.
  • Edefana appeared, took the Orange Witch’s diamond-studded card, and shattered it to reclaim the Brilliant Spark.
  • The Primordial Demoness’s Mirror Projection sent serpentine figures through reflective surfaces, seized Clarice and the Orange Witch, and surrounded Cyril, Azik, and Edefana.
  • Azik pulled Cyril and himself into the Spirit World, where he identified the attacker as the Primordial Demoness and described Her overwhelming aura.
  • Cyril’s petrification healed as Edefana returned the Brilliant Spark and explained that Cheek had taken the two Demonesses but failed to reclaim the restored Planeswalker characteristic.

Ch. 372Disaster

Cyril arranged to take the exhausted Edefana to the hidden sanctuary of Liveseyd, while Bayam’s demigod battle escalated into a catastrophe before Jahn Kottman and Hermes stopped the destruction. Azik later told Klein that Cyril had escaped with a badly injured angel, who planned to recover at Liveseyd.

  • Edefana said Liveseyd would suit her needs, and Cyril revealed that he knew where the hidden place was and could take her there.
  • A Grade 1 Sealed Artifact went out of control as the rules Hermes had created began to collapse, and meteors fell over Bayam amid a tornado, lightning, and torrential rain.
  • Jahn Kottman and Hermes contained the disaster, while Hermes trapped and killed Shanks, a demigod of the Rose School of Thought.
  • Jogory arrived and discussed Bayam’s losses with Jahn Kottman, who decided to ask headquarters to send another demigod or advance qualified clergy and Mandated Punishers.
  • Azik met Klein outside Bayam and explained that Cyril and an injured angel had escaped the Demonesses and intended to go to Liveseyd so the angel could recover.

Ch. 373Hermes's Reminder

After the battle in Bayam, Klein spoke with Azik about the Underworld and messenger contracts, while Cyril learned that Hermes had been investigating Baros Hopkins and warned him about Cohinem's characteristic. Cyril then prepared to leave Bayam with Danitz and met Klein at a restaurant in Port Olavi.

  • Azik told Klein to leave Bayam, explained how to contract a messenger using the Underworld as a witness, and said he would investigate the Death God Documents after recovering more memories.
  • Klein realized he should have asked Azik to send him back to Bayam, while Hermes explained to Cyril that he had heard Adam and had been investigating the disappearance of Baros Hopkins's avatar.
  • Cyril told Hermes that the Demoness Sect's attempt to recover the Conqueror characteristic was connected to Bansy Island, and Hermes warned him not to use Cohinem's characteristic directly.
  • Cyril told Danitz to pack so they could visit his captain that night, and Danitz speculated that the rumbling over Bayam had been caused by powerful outsiders.
  • At a restaurant in Port Olavi, Klein warned Danitz that he could tell Danitz was cursing him, and Danitz explained the local dish Teatiwa.

Ch. 374Groselle's Travels

Cyril boarded the Golden Dream with Klein and Danitz, then arranged to borrow Edwina’s copy of Groselle's Travels so his cursed messenger could recover inside its Book World. After signing a contract with Edwina, Cyril summoned Edefana, who revealed that the book had drawn Herabergen’s attention and was linked to Ankewelt imagining two Cities of Miracles.

  • Cyril used Spirit World Roaming to bring himself, Klein, and Danitz aboard the Golden Dream, where Danitz became violently ill.
  • Edwina welcomed the visitors, accepted Kalvetua’s scales as payment, and charged Danitz’s salary for Klein’s fare.
  • Cyril asked to borrow Groselle's Travels and explained that its Book World could help his cursed messenger recover.
  • Edwina agreed to lend Cyril the book in exchange for a contract and a promise to take her into the Book World if he entered it.
  • Cyril summoned Edefana, who said Groselle's Travels had stirred her spirituality and attracted Herabergen’s attention, then asked whether Ankewelt had imagined two Cities of Miracles.

Ch. 375Book World

Cyril and Edefana entered the Book World and descended into its Collective Unconscious Sea to find what Ankewelt had left in Liveseyd. At the Hall of Truth, Edefana met the echo of Herabergen, whose vision revealed the ancient war between Great Dragons and the sun and helped dispel Edefana’s curse.

  • Cyril opened a door into the Book World, and Edefana followed him inside after noticing Klein in the neighboring room.
  • Edefana sensed Liveseyd’s presence and led Cyril through the Collective Unconscious Sea, freezing its waters to form a path into the depths of the mind.
  • Edefana explained that Ankewelt’s legacy in Liveseyd included a possible path to regain Sequence 0, then led Cyril to the Hall of Truth.
  • Edefana transformed into a Great Dragon and took his place on a stone pillar as ancient dragon figures appeared around the plaza.
  • Herabergen’s echo manifested and showed the war between the Great Dragons and the sun, followed by a vision of Edefana’s shadow separating and being destroyed.
  • The vision exposed weaknesses in Edefana’s curse, which shattered; Herabergen’s echo vanished, and Edefana returned to Cyril with the blackness gone from his robe.

Ch. 376Proposal

Cyril explored the Book World with Edefana, who suggested using Ankewelt’s sealed negative personality in Cyril’s advancement ritual. After leaving Liveseyd, Cyril returned to the Golden Dream, where the pirates encountered King of the Five Seas Nast’s ship and he told Edwina and Klein about the Book World.

  • Cyril learned that the pillars at Liveseyd commemorated the Ancient Dragons who had followed Ankewelt, and Edefana explained Ankewelt’s failed resurrection plan involving the Quill of Alzuhod.
  • Edefana suggested that Cyril use Ankewelt’s negative personality for his Secrets Sorcerer advancement ritual, but Cyril decided to consider other options.
  • Edefana created a younger version of himself to guide Cyril through the Book World, then spoke privately with Herabergen about Ariehogg and Ankewelt.
  • On the Golden Dream, the pirates saw King of the Five Seas Nast’s Black Emperor sail through the air and head toward the Rorsted Archipelago.
  • Cyril told Edwina that his messenger no longer needed Groselle’s Travels and offered to take her into the Book World later.
  • Klein asked Cyril about the Book World, and Cyril explained that it was an imagined world created by Ankewelt and invited Klein to explore it with Edwina.
