Background & History

Early life and Ernst Institute

Linley obtained the Coiling Dragon Ring at the Baruch Clan estate, beginning the path that would make him a powerhouse. When his blood stained the ring during the Saint-level battle above Wushan Town, he completed its blood-binding process and met Doehring Cowart, the deceased Earth-style Saint Magus whose soul resided within it. Doehring became his guide in earth-style magic. 1 2

He later met Bebe, a God-Slaying Rat left behind at the Baruch estate. Their meeting began a lifelong companionship. 4 Linley’s exceptional magical test results earned him admission to the Ernst Institute, where he pursued magic while retaining his warrior training. 5

Dragonblood awakening and revenge

After Alice’s betrayal, Linley threw himself into sculpting Dream Awakening, advancing to seventh-rank magus level. He then returned to the Magical Beast Mountain Range, secured Blue Heart Grass, and transformed into a Dragonblood Warrior by drinking the blood of a Spined Iron-Armored Dragon. 9 10

Linley learned that his father Hogg had died after uncovering evidence that Duke Paterson and King Clayde were involved in his mother’s abduction. He attempted to assassinate Clayde, but the Radiant Church stopped him and imprisoned him shortly before the Day of Destruction. 10 11

Rise of the Baruch Duchy

Linley survived the Day of Destruction and continued fighting the Radiant Church. His victory over Lantan’s group brought him to the ninth rank, and his Dragonform granted Saint Realm strength. 26

He formally met Liewen at Wharton’s engagement ceremony and began exchanging cultivation insights with him. Liewen taught him Pulse Guard, helping refine both its defensive and soul-protection applications. 31 32 33
