Background / History

Childhood and separation from Kuhn

Lena’s biological mother died giving birth to her. Her father, Kuhn, later crossed the Magical Beast Mountain Range to escape the Radiant Church and establish himself in the O’Brien Empire. During their separation, Liewen watched Lena grow up and came to regard her as his own younger sister 18 30 41.

After Kuhn sent a letter requesting a reunion, Liewen planned to take Lena to Chiyan City following her magic aptitude test 18.

Magic testing and escape from Hess City

At the Radiant Cathedral, Lena demonstrated super-grade light affinity and remained unusually comfortable under the soul-suppressing Deterrence test. Her eyes turned white, and her expression became angel-like. Priest Erwin stopped the examination before obtaining a spiritual-energy score and pressed Liewen to send her to the Holy Island 19.

Liewen suspected that the test had exposed Lena’s pure soul and immediately prepared to leave Hess City. The Radiant Church attempted to seize them, sending the Four-Winged Angel Beasley. Lena stayed in the carriage as instructed while Liewen fought him. After defeating Beasley, Liewen killed Erwin before he could take her and escaped with Lena to Greenleaf Town 19 20 22.

Education in the Yulan Empire

Lena reunited with Kuhn in Chiyan City. A second examination at the Imperial Magicians Guild measured her spiritual energy at 65 times that of her peers and confirmed her super-grade light affinity. Vice Dean Lanster offered her a place at Grindelwald Magic Academy, but Liewen and Kuhn chose the Yulan Empire Royal Magic Academy instead 28 29 30.

She began learning magic while staying at the Daryl Family mansion, then traveled to Yulan City with Liewen and Kuhn. By November 20, Yulan Calendar 10009, she had enrolled and was living at the academy. At twenty, she became a seventh-rank mage and stayed on as a teacher 30 35 39 40.

Rise of the Bo Lei Empire

Following Liewen’s departure for the higher planes, Franklin sought to establish a nation modeled on the Baruch Clan’s achievement. Lena supported the developing Bo Lei Principality. Her presence west of the Magical Beast Mountain Range also spared her from Odin’s massacre of the Saint Realm experts in Yulan City, which killed many of her fellow disciples 145 146.

After independently becoming a Lowgod, Lena experimented with blood from tiger-type Saint Realm magical beasts, adapting the Baruch Clan’s living-dragon-blood method. Her success allowed Kuhn and Franklin to awaken their Tiger-Striped Warrior bloodline and become Saint Realm experts. The principality eventually grew into the Bo Lei Empire, with Lena revered as its guardian deity 145 146.

After roughly two thousand years apart, Liewen returned just as Lena was preparing to leave for the Celestial Realm. She had delayed departure at her family’s urging, but reaching Midgod had renewed her determination to find him 145.

Adventures in Hell and the blood mist

Lena underwent the Four Divine Beasts Clan’s baptism and later left the clan to gain experience in Hell. Liewen equipped her with weapons, defensive artifacts, and Sovereign Power. After becoming a Sovereign, he appointed her his emissary and supplied a full set of three Sovereign Artifacts 166 198.

During a five-star Fiend mission against Black Soul Castle, Lena killed its Six-Star Fiend master, Chloe. Her sword strike cut deep into the seabed and accidentally released power from a drop of Linley’s blood. The resulting mist killed the other nearby Fiends and guards but left Lena’s true body unconscious 198 199 200.

Her wind clone, which remained in the Celestial Realm, sought Liewen’s help. He removed her true body from the mist, allowing her to awaken. The exposure had strengthened her body to Sovereign Artifact level rather than causing a soul mutation 199 200.

Ascension and the Divine Realm incursion

After returning from Hell, Lena cultivated on Liewen’s island beneath the Heaven-Reaching Tower. She eventually fused three light mysteries and reached Commander-level strength, meeting Liewen’s standard for ascension. She nevertheless hesitated to leave because Kuhn and Franklin, who had become Highgods by refining Godsparks, could not meet that standard 203.

Liewen later gave her the Light High Sovereign Spark to accelerate her cultivation. When Divine Realm experts entered the Celestial Realm and God King Baiyu attempted to bind them, Lena drew the Supreme Life Sword entrusted to her by Liewen 210 212.

Appearance

Lena is described as a cute child of approximately eight during the journey along the Yulan River and as a stunning beauty by the time she approaches twenty-three 27 40.

  • Eyes: Pale blue, clear, and free of visible impurity 19.
  • Testing transformation: Her eyes temporarily turn white under Deterrence, accompanied by an indifferent, angel-like expression 19.
  • Imperial statue: Her monument depicts her as a cold, aloof woman; this describes the statue rather than her usual behavior 144.

Personality

As a child, Lena is affectionate toward Liewen and anxious about being separated from him. She trusts his judgment during the Church’s attempt to take her and remains in the carriage despite the nearby battle 19 20 22 29 30.

Her obedience does not erase her determination. She promises to seek Liewen after reaching Midgod and, two thousand years later, refuses to postpone that goal indefinitely. She also chooses to leave the Four Divine Beasts Clan’s protection to improve through experience 71 145 166.

Lena rejects suitors politely but firmly. She dislikes the extravagance and status competition of Yulan City’s nobles, comparing their preoccupations unfavorably with Liewen’s dedication to cultivation. Her attachment to family remains strong enough to make her hesitate over ascension even after she qualifies 40 198 203.
