Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Tree Elf 193 Obtained a Tree Elf transformation through Dragon King Blood and Life Sap, becoming the first known individual to do so. He later regretted transforming early, as it prevented him from choosing subsequently developed races. 193

Background

From the first night of transmigration, Shang Chuan chose the path of a merchant rather than pursuing public recognition. Although he had sufficient resources to upgrade his Shelter early, he concealed his strength, believing that “the nail that sticks out gets hammered down” and that profit mattered more than fame. 27

He began recruiting personnel soon after arriving in Karim. On his first patrol, he saw Ailuaier hunt rabbits with a gun and hired her as a mercenary; she became his principal combat asset. 44

Shang Chuan became one of Lan Qingyou’s earliest and most consistent business partners. He supplied materials, purchased and distributed her alchemical products, accepted storage commissions, and gradually expanded from individual trade into managing production, packaging, procurement, and regional logistics. 28 70 103 165

Personality

Shang Chuan is openly profit-driven, pragmatic, and calculating, but he favors sustainable business over short-term exploitation. When Lan Qingyou was willing to trade away all of her Healing Potions, he deliberately limited his own purchase to avoid appearing greedy and to preserve their long-term partnership. 30

He views labor, intelligence, supplies, and even danger through a commercial lens. His stated concern for subordinates is often framed in practical terms: without them, he would have to spend his own time gathering resources instead of earning money. 80

Despite his mercantile reputation, Shang Chuan takes debts and agreements seriously. He sought rare mental-type materials partly to repay what he believed he owed Lan Qingyou, and later remained unconcerned when Ailuaier supervised his tax collection, stating that he did honest work. 70 512

His confidence can border on theatricality. As The Moon, he is associated with the title Elegant Manipulator, and he is known to present valuable intelligence with deliberate mystery. 99 543

Trade and Negotiation

Shang Chuan assesses market value quickly, negotiates profit shares, and structures deals around continued cooperation rather than one-time gains.

  • Extended Lan Qingyou credit at a five-percent daily price increase because she was a valuable client. 27

  • Outsourced minor orders while personally pursuing higher-value commercial opportunities. 39
