Background / History

Thor confronted Azu over Loki's Scepter during the Chitauri invasion. He called down lightning through Mjolnir and briefly matched Azu's Heat Ray before Azu increased its output and forced him back. Azu ultimately took the Tesseract, while Thor returned Loki to Asgard after the battle. 131 133

A year later, Thor had spent his time suppressing uprisings across other worlds to atone for Loki's actions. During the Dark Elf crisis, Azu invaded Asgard, defeated Thor and Odin, and seized the Reality Stone. 174 176 177

Following Odin's fatal battle against Azu, Thor inherited responsibility for Asgard. Odin warned him that Hela would return; Thor therefore left to seek greater strength, while Loki impersonated Odin to preserve public order. 183 184

Thor later returned from Nidavellir bearing Stormbreaker. With the weapon, he displayed far greater command of lightning and devastated Thanos's forces in Wakanda. 318

After the fall of Asgard, Thor led its survivors to a Norwegian fishing village and established New Asgard. He continued to oppose Azu's attempts to take Stormbreaker and later joined efforts against the John Empire. 384 389

During the war in the City of All-Blacks, Thor was targeted by Wanda, Adam, and Dark Doctor Strange. Unable to be killed through direct force, he was thrown into the Dark Dimension and the portal was sealed. 552

Appearance

Thor is depicted with golden hair and a powerful, imposing build. He later cuts his hair short for combat and replaces Mjolnir with Stormbreaker. 184 327

  • Carries Stormbreaker, a divine battle-axe capable of summoning the Bifrost. 318 327
  • Possesses a prosthetic eye after Hela takes one of his eyes. 318
  • Wields Gungnir briefly after Odin's death. 184

Personality

Thor is direct, proud, and often impulsive in battle. He readily challenges opponents such as Azu, T'Challa, and Ikaris, relying on overwhelming force and confidence in his own strength. 318 390

Despite his bravado, he is deeply devoted to his family and people. Odin's death, Loki's repeated betrayals, and Loki's eventual death leave him grieving and determined not to lose anyone else. His commitment to Asgard drives him to pursue greater strength and accept the burdens of kingship. 184 384 510
