Keli hesitated, and Jenna tugged at her trousers again.
"Miss Keli, Your Highness, please, for the sake of us both coming from the same duchy."
Keli bit her lip. "I can't make promises on someone else's behalf, but I can ask around for you tomorrow."
Jenna actually wanted Keli to go find someone today, right now, this instant. But from Keli's expression, she knew there was no chance of that happening today.
Jenna stood up sadly.
Ever since she'd learned about the Parasites, she hadn't been able to sleep well.
Tonight would probably be another sleepless night.
Keli finally managed to get away from Jenna.
If they hadn't grown up together, she truly wouldn't have wanted to get involved in the Mutual Aid Society's troubles.
Back in the dormitory area, Keli knocked on Thor's door.
"Who is it?"
Thor heard the knock but didn't get up right away.
He'd gotten into the habit of checking who was outside before opening the door.
"Your old pal."
"..."
Thor had taught Keli that phrase as a joke. With her stiff, exaggerated pronunciation, she'd made it sound like something else entirely.
Thor had just opened the door a crack when Keli slipped under his arm and darted inside.
Once Thor had shut the door, Keli said impatiently, "Thor, I might be bringing trouble your way."
"Hm?"
"It's Jenna. You might not remember her..."
Keli recounted how Jenna had approached her, then said helplessly, "She seems certain that I was once infested by a Parasite and got rid of it, so now she's got her sights set on me."
Thinking of Jenna's pale face and frightened eyes, Keli added, "Can you tell me where to find Senior Byron? I'll ask him if he can make another attempt, or maybe let Jenna pay the price
