Background

Obito was once a Konoha shinobi assigned to Team Minato alongside Kakashi Hatake and Nohara Rin. He was openly infatuated with Rin, keeping a Team Minato photograph with Kakashi's face covered and eagerly anticipating missions because they let him spend time with her. His jealousy of Haori begins when he learns that Haori had spent time with Rin before relaying his mission notice. 3

After being critically injured, Obito is brought to Madara by White Zetsu. Madara saves him because he sees Obito's kind-hearted nature and awakened Sharingan as qualities that could make him useful. Once awake, Obito insists on returning to Konoha despite Madara's efforts to convince him that his sacrifice was meaningless. 13 28

His outlook darkens after he is not recognized by Kakashi and Rin. The resulting emotional turmoil awakens his Mangekyō Sharingan and deepens his resentment toward his former teammates, Haori, and the world he believes has taken everything from him. 53 93

Personality

Obito begins as an emotional and easily embarrassed young shinobi whose affection for Rin strongly shapes his choices. He is competitive with Kakashi and bitterly jealous of Haori, especially when he believes either has taken something that should have belonged to him. 3 180

Following Madara's intervention and repeated defeats, he becomes colder, more hostile, and increasingly obsessed with recognition, revenge, and creating a new world under his control.
