"Something isn't right!" Hagrid rose solemnly. "See this shimmering stuff? It's Unicorn Blood. Someone is hurting a unicorn!

Someone actually dared to lay a hand on such a sacred creature!"

He looked at Damon and the others.

"We must find the injured unicorn immediately and help it out of its suffering!"

"We'll split into two groups and follow the blood trails separately—good heavens! There's blood everywhere. Clearly, it's been stumbling around since at least last night."

"Whether you follow me or Fang, none of the creatures in the Forbidden Forest will attack you.

If anyone finds the unicorn, send up green sparks. If anyone gets into trouble, send up red sparks."

Having just witnessed Damon's extraordinary Transfiguration, Hagrid was no longer worried about splitting up. He did not waste time asking whether they had mastered that spell and moved to act at once.

Damon frowned slightly. "Fang and Harry's group will come with me. You go by yourself."

He did not trust Hagrid with any of them.

Hagrid seemed not to have expected Damon to say that, and he looked somewhat hurt—he had thought that at least Harry would be willing to go with him.

But judging by Harry's expression, that did not seem to be the case.

Hagrid muttered to himself and walked off alone in a foul mood—he still needed Damon's help with Norbert, so he would not oppose any of Damon's orders or requests anytime soon.

Fang stood behind Damon, and the three children and one dog all nodded nervously.
