During this expedition, Jeffrey and his student expedition members, including Sacia Taylor, uncovered ancient ruins and hieroglyphic inscriptions, leading him to conclude that the sudden collapse of the Askia Dynasty was caused by a terrifying supernatural phenomenon linked to a Spirit Realm entity 13 14 15 42.

Upon returning to Tin City, Jeffrey became deeply obsessed, stressed, and paranoid, burdened by research notes written in ancient Askia hieroglyphs and trapped in a cognitive trap that led to his psychological deterioration 13 15 18 42.
