Background / History

Sudo nearly faced expulsion after failing his English midterm by one point despite the class having access to past exam papers. Horikita Suzune and Ayanokoji Kiyotaka ultimately prevented his expulsion, though Sudo initially believed Onizuka had played a larger role and showed him gratitude. 18 19

Soon afterward, three Class C students provoked Sudo into entering a surveillance blind spot and fighting them. He initially restrained himself, but retaliated after being struck. Onizuka secretly recorded the confrontation, while Ryuen later had the Class C students injure themselves to frame Sudo. 20 22

When Class C accused him of assault, Sudo was ostracized by much of Class D and became desperate to clear his name. Hirata and Kushida defended him, while Onizuka used his recording to force Class C to withdraw its complaint. 28 29 35

During the Uninhabited Island exam, Sudo contributed to Class D's camp work and showed more willingness to cooperate with his classmates. 45 He later became a major athletic asset during the Sports Festival, participating in Class D's flag assault alongside Hirata, Ayanokoji, and Onizuka. After becoming involved in the pool incident, Sudo tried to seize Onizuka's memory card with Sotomura and Yamauchi. Onizuka easily avoided his attack and later incapacitated him while confronting the group. Yamauchi's expulsion convinced Sudo that Onizuka could enforce their contract, leading Sudo to submit and agree to follow his orders. 83 106 108

Sudo later acted as Onizuka's intermediary during the group-exam conflict, pressuring Miyake Akito and Shinohara Satsuki to hear him out. Desperate to avoid expulsion, he exposed Onizuka's control over himself and Ike, as well as Onizuka's private-point holdings and access to Class B's test papers. 117 119 Although he and Ike remained excluded from viewing those papers, Onizuka considered Sudo's first assigned task successfully completed. 121

His experience with near-expulsion and Class D's hostility gradually makes him more cooperative and practical. By the group-exam period, he obeys Onizuka without argument, though he eventually takes the risk of revealing Onizuka's actions in an attempt to save himself, Ike, Miyake, and Shinohara. 45 117 119
