| Name | Onizuka Tsukasa (鬼冢) |
| Gender | Male |
| Affiliation | Class 1-D; later the Student Council 84 |
| Occupation/Role | First-year student; appointed leader of Class D during the Uninhabited Island Special Exam 44 |
| First Appearance | Chapter 1 |
Background
Onizuka was born an illegitimate child of the Onizuka Family, a rigid conglomerate clan whose lineage stretches back to the Sengoku period. The family values bloodline above all else: legitimate heirs are honored, while illegitimate children are treated as disposable tools of the main family. His exceptional intelligence and talent made him more threatening than useful in their eyes. 1
Upon entering the school, Onizuka treated his placement in Class 1-D as a useful cover that encouraged others to underestimate him. He quickly identified the school’s point system as its central mechanism and resolved to obtain enough private points to secure his own future rather than rely on his class. 3 6
Personality
Onizuka is laid-back, cynical, and habitually amused by the people around him. He initially dismisses most of Class D as “defective” and rejects the expectation that he should help classmates without compensation or a personal reason. 3 17
He is intensely self-interested, but not thoughtless. Onizuka plans several moves ahead, recognizes leverage quickly, and prefers contracts, information, and financial pressure to direct confrontation. He is willing to manipulate or coerce others when their goals conflict with his own, particularly when building his faction within Class D. 53 97 117 121
Despite his ruthlessness, he can be protective and considerate toward people he values. He gathers evidence to defend Sudo, protects Sakura Airi from danger and harassment, and helps Ichinose reconcile with her guilt after the island exam. 20 31 57
Abilities & Skills
Physical Prowess
Onizuka possesses exceptional speed, strength, reflexes, and combat ability. His physical performance is sufficiently abnormal to damage testing equipment, leaving Nagumo with mostly blank athletic data. 88
- Defeated Yamada Naoki in a 100-meter race, then continued defeating upperclassmen across multiple track-and-field events without a recorded loss. 6 16
- Earned a total of 1,867,265 private points through athletic wagers during his first week. 6
- Restrained Albert’s punch one-handed and pinned his arm without visible effort. 15
- Reacted quickly enough to catch Ayanokoji’s opening punch and evade his follow-up strikes. 40
- Incapacitated multiple opponents in the Pole Toppling Competition, then used their bodies to construct a defensive human wall. 92
- Dragged Horikita Manabu to the finish line of the Scavenger Race while outrunning pursuing third-years. 93
Strategic Analysis
Onizuka excels at identifying hidden rules, assessing incentives, and turning incomplete information into usable plans.
- Deduced early that monthly point distributions could depend on Class D’s collective performance rather than a guaranteed allowance. 3
- Recognized that free toiletries, attendance, and student spending were connected to the school’s point-based control system. 5
- Used a memorized terrain map to guide Horikita and Ayanokoji during the Uninhabited Island Special Exam. 45
- Identified Class A’s leader from a covert supply negotiation and later named Totsuka Yahiko before Hashimoto could disclose it. 43 59
- Collected VIP data and solved the selection pattern through the Twelve Earthly Branches naming convention. 71
- Correctly judged that Ayanokoji deliberately maintains average-looking athletic results to conceal his true physical ability. 89
Information Gathering & Surveillance
Onizuka frequently collects evidence before acting, using recordings and observation to control volatile situations.
- Secretly recorded Sudo’s fight with Ryuen’s subordinates in a camera-blind area. 20
- Recorded Komiya’s call with Ryuen, preserving evidence of the attempted framing operation. 21
- Used a hidden camera to expose a clerk stalking and harassing Sakura. 31
- Eavesdropped on Ryuen’s transaction with Class A and used the information to infer the island exam’s leadership structure. 43
- Reads immediate emotional reactions to determine whether others are lying or concealing information. 65
Negotiation & Coercion
Onizuka leverages points, exam materials, contracts, and personal weaknesses to gain influence.
- Turned athletic wagers into a large private-point reserve, including a 10,000-point confidentiality agreement with Yamada. 6
- Sold past exam papers to Ryuen and later used leaked papers to obtain points from Class D students. 15 16
- Forced Chie Hoshinomiya’s silence through a point transaction after confronting her over the school’s class-transfer system. 11
- Negotiated monthly payments of 14,400 personal points from every Class B student in exchange for his island-exam contributions. 58
- Uses contracts containing an “unconditionally perform any one task” clause to secure obedience from members of his squad. 121
- Held approximately seventeen to eighteen million private points by the time he revealed his Class D consolidation plan. 97

- Shinohara Satsuki and Miyake Akito — Members of Onizuka’s squad, recruited through a combination of exam-paper leverage, anti-expulsion protection, and binding contracts. 117 121

Inter-Class Dealings
Onizuka gathers intelligence from Ichinose, confronts Chie Hoshinomiya about the class-transfer system, and sells past exam papers to Ryuen. His actions establish him as a dangerous independent operator rather than a loyal Class D student. 11 15 17

Uninhabited Island Special Exam
Chosen as Class D’s leader, Onizuka uses reconnaissance, alliances, and information warfare to influence the exam. He uncovers Class A’s leader, helps expose Ryuen’s infiltration of Class B, and prevents Chabashira and Ayanokoji from bypassing him in the leader-selection scheme. 44 43 51 53
His contributions earn Class B 200 class points, leading to an agreement for each Class B student to pay him 14,400 personal points monthly until graduation. 58
VIP Exam and Class A Cooperation
Onizuka solves the VIP-selection pattern, acquires a list of Targets, and negotiates with Class A through Kamuro and Katsuragi. He uses this information to maneuver against competing classes while refusing Kushida’s proposals when they do not sufficiently benefit him. 60 70 71 72
Student Council Involvement
After initially refusing Horikita Manabu’s recruitment offer, Onizuka joins the Student Council when Manabu reveals Nagumo’s plans for radical reforms. He later becomes a subject of Nagumo’s interest due to his abnormal physical abilities. 31 84 88
