Background / History

Ryuen leads Class C through intimidation, force, and calculated exploitation of his classmates. During the first midterm period, he meets Onizuka on a rooftop after Onizuka overpowers Albert and offers Class C past exam papers for points. Ryuen accepts the transaction despite their immediate hostility. 15

He later orchestrates a scheme against Ken Sudo: Komiya and other Class C students lure Sudo into an incident, after which Ryuen assaults his own subordinates to fabricate injuries and frame Sudo. Onizuka secretly records the operation. 21 22

When Onizuka confronts him with the footage, Ryuen is forced into a contract: he pays one million points and agrees that every Class C student will transfer Onizuka 10,000 points monthly until graduation. 33 34

Personality

Ryuen is aggressive, prideful, and openly contemptuous of rules, etiquette, and conventional cooperation. He provokes rivals for its own sake, dismissing the need for a motive when questioned about antagonizing Sakayanagi. 75 87 88

He is also pragmatic when cornered. Although he reacts angrily to Onizuka’s leverage, he repeatedly accepts disadvantageous deals when they preserve Class C’s position or create a strategic opening. 34 48 49

His treatment of subordinates is harsh and coercive; Komiya fears him enough to panic during a phone call, while Kaneda bears visible bruises and is ordered to withdraw once Ryuen’s plan ends. 21 51 Despite this, he shows unexpected concern for Ibuki when Onizuka triggers her distress during the VIP exam. 67
