First Appearance Chapter 1

Background / History

Before enrolling at Kodo Ikusei University Affiliated High School, Star Color had spent little time with people his own age. His submitted background documents were forged, allegedly through a corporation capable of fabricating an identity that would withstand investigation. He was systematically educated but found little interest in conventional learning, instead following a path he considers “crooked and heretical.” 11

He is the apprentice of Ginbachi Kenji, also known as Mr. Ginbachi, and holds a Green Card identifying him as a Gambling Officer. He is skilled enough to intimidate Zhou Changqing, manager of a Kisen Group pachinko parlor, by recognizing the Dark Guard profession and exploiting the parlor’s machine calibration. 11

Star Color later reveals that he entered Class A deliberately in order to approach Atsuomi Ayanokouji and Shigemori Sakayanagi, intending to dismantle their influence. He also claims knowledge of parallel world lines and a being called “Destiny,” including an alternate world where Sakayanagi Usagi destroyed the school and the world. 39

Appearance

Star Color is a small, slender, purple-haired boy whose androgynous appearance regularly causes others to mistake him for a girl. His frail build, delicate features, and expressive violet eyes contrast sharply with the threatening presence he can display when gambling or manipulating others. 3 6 11

  • Purple hair and bright purple, rainbow-like eyes. 3 7
  • Slender body and poor stamina; he describes himself as physically frail and reports having a heart condition. 3 12 13
  • Frequently mistaken for a girl because of his delicate face and lack of conventionally masculine features. 5 6 19
  • Wears a custom beige-brown uniform with a hood rather than the school’s standard red jacket. 1
  • Also wears feminine clothing, including a gray sailor uniform beneath his loose beige jacket. 15 19

Personality

Star Color presents himself as harmless, cute, and easily flustered, often adopting an innocent “mascot” persona around classmates. He is playful, sarcastic, socially awkward around unfamiliar girls, and prone to bizarre internal monologues. Though he dislikes being drawn into class politics, he enjoys provoking reactions and observing people. 4 7 19 46

Beneath this persona, he is calculating, manipulative, and fascinated by human weakness. He can become unnervingly calm or openly malevolent when confronting opponents, particularly in gambling, intimidation, and psychological games. His concern for people such as Masumi Kamuro, Kaneda Satoru, and Kohei Katsuragi nevertheless shows that his worldview is not purely cruel. 32 37 45 46

Star Color believes people should pursue their own desires rather than deny their flaws for the sake of morality or social approval. He favors personal happiness and self-affirmation over factional loyalty, refusing both Sakayanagi Arisu’s recruitment and Katsuragi’s political struggle. 15 42 46

Abilities & Skills

Human Observation

Story Role / Major Arcs

Enrollment and School-System Analysis

Star Color enters Class 1-A as a conspicuous outsider because of his custom uniform and unusual behavior. After meeting Tamiya and Shiina Hiyori, he deduces that the school’s point system conceals a class-based competition designed to tempt students into complacency. 1 3 7

Board Games Club

Wanting a relaxed club built around tabletop games, Star Color recruits Satoshi Satonaka and submits an application to establish the Board Games Club. Although the Student Council initially dismisses it as meaningless, the club later operates and gains members such as Akaya Nanaka. 14 20 34

Gambling Officer Activities

Star Color uses his gambling expertise at the Kisen Group pachinko parlor, identifies himself as a Gambling Officer, and considers operating a legal school gambling venue through a two-shop model involving a pawn shop and gambling house. He later exposes a pachinko cheater while disguised. 11 40 44

Class A Factional Strife

As Katsuragi and Sakayanagi form rival factions, Star Color refuses to commit to either side. He supports Kamuro against Sakayanagi’s attempt to use her theft history as leverage, while privately encouraging Katsuragi to become a more formidable opponent so the conflict will not become one-sided. 15 42 46

Guidance of Kamuro and Kaneda

Star Color turns his manipulative skills toward intervention when Kamuro’s theft and Kaneda’s bullying crisis draw his attention. He engineers a confrontation with Kamuro, then encourages her to accept responsibility; he also helps Kaneda intimidate Ryuuen and arranges temporary Student Council protection. 32 36 37

Hidden Schemes

Despite his relaxed school persona, Star Color is pursuing a larger plan against Atsuomi Ayanokouji and Shigemori Sakayanagi. His fixation on parallel worlds, destiny, and destructive alternate outcomes suggests that his school life is only one part of a broader scheme. 39
