Background / History

Ron first meets Harry Potter at King's Cross Station, where Harry uses his cleaning magic to polish the Hogwarts Express and Ron himself to a mirror-like shine. 13 The two soon share a train compartment with Hermione Granger and Neville Longbottom.

On the Hogwarts Express, Ron fights Draco Malfoy after Draco insults him and Hermione. He follows Harry when Draco delivers a challenge, then helps uncover the truth about his pet rat Scabbers. 14 16 Scabbers is revealed to be Peter Pettigrew, leaving Ron disgusted that the disguised traitor had lived with the Weasley family for years. 16

At Hogwarts, Ron remains close to Harry despite Harry's placement in Slytherin.
