Background / History
Tom was an orphan taken in by the Dursley family. After awakening memories of a past life, he discovered a private “persona panel” that converts other people’s impressions of him into personas and power. He deliberately cultivated an image of intelligence, strength, discipline, authority, and magical talent to improve those personas. 1 2
While living at Privet Drive, Tom turned a former storage room into his bedroom, maintained a bookshelf and polished trophies, and imposed a strict exercise routine on Dudley and Harry. Though Vernon feared him, Harry viewed him as a protective elder brother who defended him from bullying and helped him secure better treatment in the household. 1 3
Tom initially had no known magical outbursts and believed himself to be a Muggle. To build a Wizard persona, he faked magic with transparent threads and exploited the Dursleys’ inability to distinguish stage tricks from actual spells. His genuine magical talent emerged by the time Dumbledore invited him to Hogwarts. 2
Dumbledore’s reaction to Tom’s full name, personality, ambition, and aptitude led to the creation of Tom’s Born Dark Lord persona. Tom recognizes its power but considers it dangerous, since it reinforces suspicions that he may be Voldemort reborn. 1 2 4
At Hogwarts, the Sorting Hat briefly declares “Azkaban” before placing him in Slytherin, identifying him as a natural Slytherin with unusually pure magic suited for the Dark Arts and overwhelming ambition. Harry and Ron subsequently choose Slytherin in order to remain close to and learn from him. 13 14 15
Appearance
Tom is a strikingly handsome boy whose refined features contrast sharply with his extraordinary physical strength. His evolved physique is dense rather than visibly bulky, allowing him to conceal much of his strength beneath school robes. 1 15
- Delicate, handsome features that naturally make others feel warmth toward him. 1
- Initially has rugged, bulging muscles despite his youthful face. 1
- Later gains a more compact build through increased flesh and bone density. 15
- Has an intimidatingly powerful physique by wizarding standards. 9
Personality
Tom is disciplined, calculating, ambitious, and highly conscious of public perception. He studies how impressions form, then engineers situations to create personas that improve his strength, magical capacity, or social influence. 1 2 18
He presents himself as polite and respectful before authority figures, particularly Dumbledore, while privately remaining alert to threats such as Legilimency and possible confinement. He is willing to lie, manipulate, impersonate Voldemort, steal supplies, and misdirect suspicion when doing so advances his goals. 1 2 33 34 38
Despite his strategic nature, Tom repeatedly protects others: he intervenes for Harry, helps Neville during Flying class, shares food with Ron, and accepts Ron’s request for training. These actions also strengthen his reputation and personas. 3 9 14 23
Abilities & Skills
Persona Panel
Tom alone can view a panel that tracks personas, impression levels, occupations, and achievement points.
- Personas gain progress according to how many people know of his actions, how strongly they are impressed, and how influential the observers are. 2
- Each persona level grants an Achievement Point; ten points can be used to draw a new persona. 2
- Personas can evolve at maximum level, as Robust evolves into Innate Divine Strength. 15
- He deliberately cultivates both positive and negative images to manage the risks of his Born Dark Lord persona. 4
Superhuman Strength
Through Robust and its evolved form, Tom possesses immense physical power.
- Pushes a boulder taller than a human. 1
- Overpowers Crabbe and Goyle simultaneously and sends both flying with punches. 10
- Carries heavy luggage for himself and Harry. 8
- Trains with massive stones and repairs the resulting damage to Hogwarts grounds. 17
- Gains increased resistance to magic and drugs after evolving into Innate Divine Strength. 15
Magical Talent
Tom learns and applies magic unusually quickly.
- Demonstrates telekinesis and control precise enough to return a trophy to a shelf with a finger flick. 2
- Breaks the effects of Draco’s Leg-Locker Curse without a wand. 10
- Casts a large-area Repairing Charm on a damaged brick path before attending a single Hogwarts class. 17
- Learns basic offensive spells under Quirrell’s instruction and quickly develops a successful spell-combination sequence. 36
- Uses his physical refinement for faster reactions, movement, and dynamic vision during moving-target spell practice. 37
- Sustained high-intensity casting exhausts him. 36 37
Dark Mark Spell
Tom gains the Dark Mark as a spell rather than as a physical tattoo due to a conflict between his Death Eater and Born Dark Lord personas. 32
- Casts the mark successfully on his first attempt. 32
- Can cast it nonverbally and believes he can do so without a wand. 32
- Brands Quirrell as a core Death Eater. 33
- Can use the mark to impose pain on a bearer he declares disloyal. 33
Potions
Tom is an exceptional potion student and brewer.
- Answers Snape’s advanced question and adds insights on the symbolic meanings of potion ingredients. 20
- His Potions Prodigy persona enables him to see ingredients’ internal veins and learn potion-making at greatly accelerated speed. 20
- Reproduces a Vitality Potion with the same properties as Voldemort’s version. 41
- Plans and acquires materials for Vitality and Stimulant potions from Snape’s stores. 38
Animal Friend
Tom can befriend and control dangerous magical creatures.
- Uses the persona to tame Fluffy, the three-headed dog. 31
- Commands Fluffy to restrain Snape while escaping a restricted area. 31
Dark Lord Occupation
Tom’s Dark Lord occupation manifests after Quirrell accepts him as Voldemort. 36 37
- Grants access to a portion of the abilities of Death Eaters who recognize him. 36 37
- Allows him to benefit from Quirrell’s theoretical Defense Against the Dark Arts aptitude, making relevant reading substantially easier. 37
- Does not yet grant access to the abilities of Death Eaters who have not recognized him. 37
