| Scavenger | 66 | Became the first successful ritual subject after Ned implanted Decay Power through Divine Art: Rot Root Seed. | Corruptor / Corrupted One | 91 | Identified among the first power-holders personally bestowed by Ned. This group is described as capable of granting decay to objects and wielding the Withered Life Divine Art. 91 |
Background
Lukar is Ned's son. As a child, he feared losing his father to the sea monsters that had killed other tribespeople. He nevertheless accepted Ned's need to pursue ocean exploration after comparing it to his own dream of becoming a peerless archer like Barlow. 46
Over the following years, Lukar inherited his father's drive to explore, but framed it as a mission of conquest for the god: to open the wider sea and offer its discoveries to the divine. He volunteered to become the first participant in Ned's incomplete ritual despite its risks. 66
The ritual succeeded, leaving Lukar unconscious for two days and permanently burdened by fragile, decay-marked skin. He emerged as a Scavenger and later led an expedition that discovered Red Island, a warm island with abundant freshwater. 66 70
After Ned abdicated and departed alone with the Traveler's Torch, Lukar assumed leadership of Giant Tree Island. He responded to the Plague Island Incident by compensating bereaved families, founding the Heroes' Cemetery, promoting Mu Tuotuo as an elder, and preserving the path of power-holders despite public fear of Decay Power. 82
Appearance
Lukar is associated with an ashen-gray cloak, worn to protect the fragile skin created by his incomplete integration with Decay Power. Gray veins remain visible beneath that skin, which can crack under sunlight, heat, or physical impact. 66 70 102
- Wears a protective gray cloak. 70
- Has decay-gray blood vessels visible beneath his skin. 66
- His skin is vulnerable to sunlight, force, and intense heat. 66 102
Personality
As a child, Lukar was emotionally attached to his father and openly afraid of the sea's dangers. He matured into a determined, ambitious believer who accepted personal risk in pursuit of exploration and divine expansion. 46 66
As chief, he is meticulous, decisive, and strongly inclined toward personal control. The Plague Island Incident made him distrust unchecked power, leading him to centralize decisions, supervise power-holders, and create systems intended to ensure loyalty and religious purity. 82 87 88
Lukar can reconsider his methods. After public fear and dissent followed the use of Mind Prophets to expose hidden wrongdoing, he restricted their investigations, released minor offenders, and allowed voluntary confession and repentance. He remained uncompromising toward conspirators and those who openly refused to repent. 97 98
