Ruins
Jack actually only rode half the distance with Hope on horseback, which was less than half an hour.
He is indeed a good equestrian, but even so, bumps on the road are still unavoidable.
So, when Hope forgot to breathe due to dizziness for the second time, Jack asked Jenny II to stop, sprayed some Spirit-Infused Water on Hope's body, and finally agreed to let Hope return to the car and sit in the car.
"However, this is enough." Jack said to Hope, "You can probably rest for two or three hours. And I assure you, you will not need to stay on the horse longer than you do now."
Professor Rice took over Hope.
"I can't guarantee that he will be able to rest well after two or three hours." Professor Rice muttered, placing Hope next to Professor Armitage, and he sat in the passenger seat.
Professor Armitage looked at Hope, with some confusion under his glasses. "I didn't expect that this would be your first time riding a horse - you were born in the countryside after all."
"I--"Hope gasped. "I didn't expect it either."
Generally speaking, even if Hope cannot inherit all of Number One Hope's memories, as long as Number One Hope often rides horses, at least some of the muscle memory can be borrowed by Hope.
Hope leaned back on the seat and allowed himself to rest as much as possible.
The interior of the car is relatively comfortable; but only relatively speaking: the car at this time did not have such a good shock absorption system:
After passing a raised ramp, Hope accidentally kicked the little Briefcase next to Professor Armitage.
Fortunately, Professor Armitage doesn't care.
In the car, Hope finally had the opportunity to observe this little thing up close. It was about as long as a forearm, and it was all silver. The specific material could not be distinguished. There were no extra decorations on it, but every bend was just right, and the seal was very tight. With Hope's eyesight, it was almost impossible to find any gaps after the box was closed.
"I'm curious what this is?" Professor Armitage asked, noticing Hope's gaze.
Hope nodded.
"A book." Professor Armitage said.
Hope thought Professor Armitage would continue talking, so he waited quietly, but Professor Armitage only said this sentence and seemed not to intend to speak again.
A book?
<Necronomicon>?
Hope re-evaluated the size of Briefcase and quickly rejected his idea.
<Necronomicon> is too big to fit inside.
He then remembered those four-story books suspended in the air by Professor Armitage.
Is there any special use--
When a group of six people arrived at Flye House, it was almost an hour later.
There is only ruins left here.
Hope can vaguely tell that there used to be a very spectacular building here, at least taller than Whateley House's house. But that building is like an egg shell. It may have been strong and beautiful at one time, but now there is only a pile of debris left on the ground, and the whole building has completely collapsed.
The stench wafted over the ruins, and Hope sprayed a little more Spirit-Infused Water on his body, hoping that the pungent fragrance of this liquid could combat the stench.
Dr. Morgan and Jack went to search the ruins together. Paul seemed to hesitate for a while, but ultimately did not follow.
Ten minutes later, Dr. Morgan returned to the car.
He held a bottle sealed with a cork in his hand, which contained some black viscous liquid.
The bottle was handed over to Professor Rice.
Professor Rice opened the bottle, frowned, and put the cork back in an instant.
The stench instantly filled the car, and several people opened the windows next to them in tacit agreement.
"There is no one." Dr. Morgan said, "Jack and I almost searched this place. There is no one, no living things, and no corpses. There is only this black slime in the house."
After he finished speaking, he was silent for a second, and no one else spoke, which was regarded as a moment of silence for the victims.
"Where is "it"?" Professor Armitage asked.
"I haven't seen it." Dr. Morgan replied, "But we should be able to determine the general direction of the guy - southwest. The black mucus there extends for a long distance, and the surrounding flowers and plants are dead. Jack walked alone in that direction. If Monster is indeed there, he may be able to find it."
They got off the car, and Professor Armitage helped Hope stand firm.
Paul was taking two horses to graze. The horses were obviously disturbed by the sight of Flye House and kept neighing.
Dr. Morgan and Professor Rice chatted about their ceremony again.
And Professor Armitage took Hope to sit on the grass and rest.
This is not a lawn in a university or a park, but real weeds with splashes of mud, various bugs and bug corpses, but the old professor doesn't even care.
"Are you curious about what Dr. Morgan and Professor Rice are doing?" Professor Armitage asked.
"There are some-" Hope thought for a while, "Aren't they all good at pharmacy, but what they want to do seems to be-uh--"
"Ritual." Professor Armitage said, "They have to prepare a ritual. Although it seems strange for pharmacists to prepare occult rituals, the configuration of many potions requires a ritual to be completed, so most of them have some research on rituals."
"Have you done some research?" Hope grinned: "But--that guy--"
Professor Armitage smiled, "It looks scary and powerful, and non-professionals can't fight it?"
Hope nodded.
"That's true." Professor Armitage said, "If we want to face a head-on confrontation, all of us together probably can't do it. If we want to rely on some aggressive rituals to achieve our goals, not to mention Professor Rice and Dr. Morgan, not even a few people in New Federation can do it.
"But Dr. Morgan is right," it is now in a very unstable state, so what Professor Rice and Dr. Morgan need to prepare is actually a kind of "Reverse Spirit-Infusion Ritual,."
Reverse Spirit-Infusion Ritual--
Hope first thought of Spirit-Infused Water who was still in his hand.
Professor Armitage paused for a moment, as if hesitating where to start. "In the world we live in, "spirituality" exists everywhere, and generally speaking, the concentration of spirituality is basically the same.
"About "spirituality", the explanation we give it in the dictionary is: "Colorless, odorless and invisible everywhere, the root of all mysticism", and its antonym is "reality".
"There are many ways to increase spirituality, such as your bottle of Spirit-Infused Water. There are also many ways to reduce spirituality, and the most commonly used one is "Reverse Spirit-Infusion Ritual" which Professor Rice and Dr. Morgan are preparing."
"What would happen if that Monster entered a spiritually thin place?" Hope then asked.
"Probably - just disappear." Professor Armitage replied, "Unlike you, "it" has almost completely acquired the characteristics of God, and is almost the embodiment of "spirituality".
"It's never even really in this world, a larger part of its body is in another world that we don't know about.
""Reverse Spirit-Infusion Ritual is a very powerful expulsion ritual for it."
