History
Early life and Orochimaru's mentorship
After transmigrating into the Hyuga Branch Family, Hane used Shadow Clones left by his deceased parents to train at an abnormal pace. He gained Might Duy's trust, inherited the Eight Inner Gates, and became an Elite Jonin-level combatant while still fourteen. 2
At age twelve, Hane approached Orochimaru and exchanged intelligence on the Uchiha and Senju clans for guidance. Their arrangement gave Hane access to Orochimaru's underground laboratory and eventually led to Hane trading a Main Family Byakugan and intelligence on the Tenseigan for the Impure World Reincarnation Jutsu. 3
Caged Bird campaign
On the Mist battlefield, Hane leaked Hyuga Hisanobu's movements to the enemy, then personally intercepted the ambush. After eliminating the Mist ninja, he severed Hisanobu's arms to prevent activation of the Caged Bird and secretly imprisoned him in a living-storage scroll. 1 2
He used the staged capture to spread the belief that Kirigakure had obtained the Caged Bird's activation method. The resulting fear forced Konoha to withdraw Hyuga ninja from the battlefield and consider altering the seal. 2 3
Hane later used the crisis as cover for Byakugan research. He supplied Hyuga Miyuki with research on ocular-power absorption, killed and harvested Hyuga ninja, and created misdirection intended to keep the investigation focused on Orochimaru rather than himself. 5 7
Main Family conflict
Hane developed White Prison, a sealing technique that drains a victim's Byakugan ocular power, and used Impure World Reincarnation to enslave Hyuga Meigoku, a Warring States-era Main Family patriarch. Meigoku retained his consciousness and became both a combat asset and a source of shared Byakugan vision. 8 13
Although he facilitates resistance to the Caged Bird, Hane explicitly rejects the role of Branch Family savior. He identifies dissatisfied clansmen as potentially useful helpers and provides Hyuga Yuki with historical intelligence and power to support the organization later called the Avengers. 13 14
Shadow Guard and the Mist war
After passing Minato's Jonin assessment, Hane is appointed to the Shadow Guard and selected alongside Uchiha Yakumaru to learn the Flying Thunder God Technique. 20 21
He masters the technique in time to assist Minato against the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. Hane marks Raiga Kurosuki, coordinates targets through the Hidden Mist with his Byakugan, and defeats Suikazan Fuguki with the Sixth Gate's Morning Peacock. 25 28
During the later campaign against Kirigakure, Hane serves with Kushina, Kakashi, and Yakumaru. He provides reconnaissance, captures surviving enemies for interrogation, teleports the team out of encirclement, and opens negotiations with Yagura regarding the Third Mizukage's abnormal conduct. 45 47
Appearance
Hane is a fifteen-year-old Hyuga boy whose otherwise pale Byakugan can change color as his ocular power rises. He is often mistaken for weaker or less experienced because of his age. 1 9 15
- Standard Hyuga white eyes and visible veins around the eyes when the Byakugan is active. 18
- Sky-blue Byakugan after his ocular evolution. 7 9
- Brilliant blue-white eyes when actively using the Spatial Eye Technique. 24
- Emits green chakra vapor while opening the Eight Inner Gates. 1 16
Personality
Hane is calm, calculating, and exceptionally difficult to provoke. He treats combat, clan politics, and personal relationships as problems to be analyzed through intelligence, leverage, and long-term consequences rather than emotion. 2 11 29
He does not view himself as a hero of the Branch Family and openly considers willing rebels to be resources he may employ. Nevertheless, he opposes the Main Family's domination, protects vulnerable Branch Family children, and remains grateful to Might Duy for his guidance. 13 24 34
Hane deliberately controls how much of himself others see. He recognizes sincerity as an effective way to build trust, while maintaining a composed exterior around Minato, Kushina, and his teammates. 23
Abilities & Skills
Byakugan and ocular evolution
Hane's Byakugan has unusually high ocular power; even before evolving, its long-range vision was twice that of an average Hyuga. 3
- Sees chakra networks, tenketsu, hidden enemies, and battlefield positions over great distances. 18 26 46
- Fights with his physical eyes closed, denying Sharingan users eye contact while retaining Byakugan perception. 18 19
- His evolved ocular power can resist direct Caged Bird manipulation. 9
- Coercion converts ocular power into gravity-like chakra pressure; at his current level, it is most effective against Chunin-level opponents. 9
- His increased chakra density enables destructive Air Palm strikes, though these require reinforcement from the Eight Inner Gates. 9
Spatial Eye Technique
A space-manipulation dōjutsu awakened through Hane's Byakugan evolution and Flying Thunder God training. It creates temporary spatial tunnels, allowing a part of his body to emerge at a distant point. 24
- Can strike targets through a tunnel without physically crossing the distance between them. 24
- Tunnel size, rather than distance, determines ocular-power consumption. 24
- The destination must remain inside Hane's Byakugan field of vision. 24
- Consumed ocular power recovers and does not cause the visual deterioration associated with Mangekyō techniques. 24
Gentle Fist and Hyuga techniques
Hane combines traditional Hyuga techniques with unusually aggressive chakra output and physical power.
- Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Vacuum Palms — A fusion of Sixty-Four Palms and Vacuum Palm that launches sixty-four chakra shockwaves. 1
- Eight Trigrams Palm Rotation — A self-realized defensive sphere that releases chakra from every tenketsu to repel projectiles and ninjutsu. 19 20
- White Prison — A sealing technique that creates a connection between dōjutsu users and drains the target's Byakugan ocular power into Hane. 8
- Tenketsu Strike — Used to add physical chakra-network disruption to sealing restraints. 47
- Standard Gentle Fist is poorly suited to massive chakra constructs such as Tailed Beasts or Susanoo without additional power behind it. 9
Eight Inner Gates
Hane inherited the Eight Inner Gates from Might Duy and supplements Gentle Fist with Konoha's Strong Fist Style. 2 16
- Opens the Fifth Gate of Limit for major boosts in speed, force, and chakra output. 1 16
- Duy trained him in the Sixth Gate of View and its advanced techniques. 17
- Uses Morning Peacock, a high-speed barrage of flaming punches and kicks that cannot be neutralized by Samehada's chakra absorption. 27
- His physical training cannot be delegated to Shadow Clones; he personally follows Duy and Guy's regimen to strengthen his body enough to open higher Gates. 16
Flying Thunder God Technique
Hane learns the Second Hokage's forbidden space-time technique under Minato's Shadow Clone and becomes the second active Flying Thunder God user in Konoha. 21 44
- Places personal marks on kunai and enemies for teleportation. 25 26
- Exchanges marked kunai with Minato to coordinate joint interceptions. 27
- Uses teleportation to extract allies from hostile territory and prevent encirclement. 47
- His Spatial Eye Technique and Flying Thunder God practice accelerate one another's development. 24
Impure World Reincarnation
Hane obtains the Impure World Reincarnation Jutsu from Orochimaru and uses it as a research, reconnaissance, and combat tool. 3
- Reanimates Hyuga Meigoku at approximately seventy percent of his former strength by using a Main Family sacrifice. 8
- Shares Meigoku's Byakugan vision to observe Hyuga Clan members without exposing his own eye activation. 13
- Reanimates seven Mist ninja as controlled servants after reinforcing their sacrifices with Nine-Tails chakra. 32
- Uses coffins and seals to suppress Meigoku whenever the reanimated patriarch becomes disruptive. 31
Shadow Clone training
Hane uses Shadow Clones to divide his time between experimentation, ninjutsu practice, and research. 16
- Maintains three clones as his optimal limit; creating more reduces next-day training efficiency through accumulated fatigue. 16
- Uses clone feedback to accelerate technical learning and gather battlefield intelligence. 16 25
- Cannot use clones to improve physical strength or endurance. 16
Caged Bird countermeasures
Hane researches multiple ways to survive, disrupt, or permanently escape the Caged Bird seal. 33 34
- Implanted a self-destruction jutsu that detonates his eyes and destroys his nerves and memories if foreign chakra enters his mind. 3
- Transcribed Izanagi into harvested Three-Tomoe Sharingan, giving him two temporary uses at the cost of the implanted eyes turning to ash. 33
- Investigates Tsunade's Division Technique as a potential method to produce an unsealed body, though it is not universally applicable. 33
- Collects Byakugan and researches Yang Release as part of his attempt to reach the Tenseigan. 10 34
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Flying Thunder God kunai — Custom-marked kunai used as teleportation anchors. 24 27
- Living-storage scroll — Used to conceal the unconscious Hyuga Hisanobu. 2
- Special Scroll — Stores his Byakugan research notes and collected information. 7
- Byakugan research materials — Harvested eyes and ocular-power data used in his evolution experiments. 3 8 10
Relationships
- Namikaze Minato — Hokage, Shadow Guard commander, Flying Thunder God instructor, and trusted battlefield partner. Hane respects Minato's character even when he disagrees with his ideals. 20 21 26 29 44
- Orochimaru — Early mentor and transactional research partner. Each values the other's knowledge but remains wary of manipulation by the other. 3 14 38
- Might Duy — Teacher of the Eight Inner Gates and a major source of Hane's taijutsu foundation. Hane considers Duy one of the few Konoha ninja capable of posing a lethal threat to him. 2 16 17
- Uchiha Yakumaru — Rival, fellow Shadow Guard member, and Flying Thunder God trainee. Their hostility develops into professional respect and cooperation. 18 23 35 47
- Hyuga Meigoku — Reanimated Warring States-era Main Family patriarch under Hane's control. Hane uses him as a combatant, scout, and symbol of retribution against the Main Family. 8 9 13 31
- Hyuga Miyuki — Fellow Branch Family member and subject of Hane's Byakugan-evolution research. Hane warns her against reckless confidence while discreetly assisting her situational awareness. 5 7 11 13
- Hyuga Yuki — Branch Family rebel who seeks Hane's power and guidance. Hane provides him information and tools while judging his potential as a useful ally. 14 34
- Tsunade — Medical expert whose research on the Caged Bird and Division Technique is central to Hane's plans. Their interactions are cautious and information-driven. 5 32 34
- Hyuga Hisanobu — Main Family member whose abduction, eye extraction, and staged capture launch Hane's campaign against the Caged Bird. 1 3
- Kushina Uzumaki — Minato's wife and a supportive presence during Flying Thunder God training. Hane accepts her Nine-Tails chakra assistance while remaining cautious around her overwhelming power. 21 23
