Background / History

Kuro spent two years concealed in Syrup Village under the identity of the butler Klahadore. He had faked his death to escape pursuit by the Navy and pirate hunters, while maintaining his cover at Kaya’s mansion. His plan depended on eliminating Kaya, Merry, and Usopp once his identity was exposed. 9 10

Daide Babaya and Roronoa Zoro confronted him at the mansion. After initially fighting Zoro, Kuro challenged Daide directly, only to be trapped inside a shrinking Barrier Ball. With Daide prepared to kill him, Kuro chose to submit and joined his crew, while privately retaining the ambition to surpass his new captain through open strength. 10 11

Kuro subsequently reunited with the Black Cat Pirates and spared Jango, Buchi, and Sham, placing them under Daide’s authority as subordinate crewmen. He joined the campaign against the Krieg Pirates, where his appetite for slaughter returned and Daide began criticizing him for the lack of control in his strongest technique. 12 13

After losing a crew hierarchy duel to Zoro, Kuro accepted a lower position within the Big Daddy Pirates and focused on serving as their chief strategist.
