Background / History

Seeking Dao Wood is one of the few Divine Beasts active in the modern world. It was once a member of the same sect as Moonfang, at a time when many Seeking Dao Woods existed; it is now the sole known survivor of its lineage. Its Knowledge Fairies are its seeds, making their existence a form of asexual continuation rather than proof that its species is secure. 241

Its original master was Heavenly King Yuan Gensheng. Although its contracts are not described as master-servant relationships, it contracts with a Beast Tamer to publicly establish its stance as a Spirit Pet, allowing humanity's leadership to accept the being that underpins their Beast Taming civilization. The prospect of choosing a successor is painful for it because it has remained loyal to its original master. 200

It shares a long, familiar history with Phoenix Wood, whom it calls a “sister.” The two fought over their original master's bed in the past; despite their teasing and conflict, Seeking Dao Wood accepted responsibility for Phoenix Wood's premature awakening and arranged a new hibernation place at the Veterans' Hospital. 195
