Background / History

Tang Hao was the young master of the Clear Sky Sect and traveled with Ah Yin, a hundred-thousand-year transformed soul beast who was pregnant with his child. Their presence near Martial Soul Hall drew Qian Xunji’s attention and led to a pursuit by Qian Xunji, Yue Guan, and Gui Mei. 19 20

Tang Chen had selected Tang Hao as his sole heir and designated him to inherit the title “Clear Sky” upon becoming a Titled Douluo. Although Tang Xiao was the elder brother, Tang Hao’s greater talent and his grandfather’s favor made him the sect’s young sect master. Tang Xiao initially took pride in his younger brother rather than resenting his position. 100 280

When the three Title Douluo cornered the couple, Tang Hao used the Slaughter God’s Domain and the Clear Sky Hammer to break free of Qian Xunji’s pressure and flee with Ah Yin. Yue Guan and Gui Mei ultimately restrained both of them with their Martial Soul Fusion Skill, the Yin-Yang Stasis Domain. 21

The Asura God engineered the confrontation to push Ah Yin toward sacrifice and empower Tang Hao against Martial Soul Hall. Tang Hao is portrayed as having calculated around Ah Yin’s sacrifice for her spirit ring and spirit bone, though he publicly resisted Qian Xunji’s demand that he surrender her. He had deliberately brought Ah Yin into a desolate region near Martial Soul Hall’s territory in the expectation that a seemingly hopeless situation would induce her sacrifice. 21 26

Ah Yin sacrificed herself, leaving Tang Hao with her hundred-thousand-year soul ring and soul bone. Tang Hao later gravely wounded Qian Xunji in a surprise attack, though later accounts held that he could not have prevailed in an ordinary frontal confrontation and had benefited from covert Asura God support. 22 31 246

Tang Hao later fled while suffering the backlash of Asura Divine Power and spirit-ring detonation; during this retreat, Ao Zhan pursued him and discovered Tang San’s body before the future God King’s soul entered it. 22 23

The infant born to Ah Yin had already died before the reincarnated Tang San occupied his body. Tang Hao noticed the child’s apparent return to life and moved to kill him, but the Asura God intervened to stop him. The god subsequently altered Tang Hao’s memories so that he no longer remembered the original infant’s death. 23 24 96

Years later, Tang Hao encountered the resurrected Ah Yin in the Star Dou Forest. Ao Zhan had restored her and raised her cultivation to the Super Douluo realm, leaving Tang Hao convinced that Ao Zhan intended to turn Ah Yin and Tang San against one another. 214

Appearance

While hiding in Holy Soul Village, Tang Hao was known publicly as a disheveled, drunken blacksmith, though his eyes retained a notable clarity. 95

Personality

Tang Hao is intensely vengeful toward Martial Soul Hall and Ao Zhan. The destruction inflicted on the Clear Sky Sect deepened this hatred, but also left him torn between immediate retaliation and the need to protect the sect’s surviving members. 82

He is protective of Tang San and repeatedly treats his son as the foundation of his future revenge. He initially suspected Tang San of possession because of the child’s abnormal emotions, training habits, and unfamiliar techniques, but abandoned those suspicions after seeing Tang San awaken Twin Martial Souls. 96 99

His conduct also reflects desperation and ruthlessness. He attempted to kill or intimidate Huo Linfei for potentially joining Martial Soul Hall, later tried to self-destruct when cornered in Spirit City, and accepted a near-suicidal infiltration mission to serve the Clear Sky Sect. 99 101 256 257

His scheme against Ah Yin combined personal ambition with concern for his public reputation. He expected her sacrifice to improve his prospects of reaching Limit Douluo, restore the Clear Sky Sect’s former glory, and make Tang Xiao share his hatred of Martial Soul Hall rather than blame him. He also anticipated using the image of a bereaved husband to win sympathy and recruit allies. 21

Despite his outward defiance, Tang Hao became deeply afraid of Ao Zhan after being repeatedly overwhelmed by him. He tried to manipulate Ao Zhan into abandoning spatial evasion for a direct clash, and later avoided intervening in Tang San’s mistreatment when he judged that doing so would risk his own life without preventing an immediate mortal danger. 27 28 175 223

After returning to the Clear Sky Sect, Tang Hao showed remorse for the catastrophe caused by his actions and accepted that he deserved punishment. In captivity, he was prepared to die if doing so would protect Tang Yuehua, though Ao Zhan exploited this resolve to force a lethal fight between him and Tang Xiao. 254 280

During the final fratricidal battle, Tang Hao deliberately provoked Tang Xiao’s killing intent and restrained his own final attack, engineering his death to meet Ao Zhan’s conditions and secure Tang Yuehua’s safety. 281

Clear Sky Hammer

Tang Hao’s Martial Soul is the Clear Sky Hammer, which he uses as a heavy offensive weapon capable of overwhelming direct strikes.

Slaughter God’s Domain

Tang Hao can release the Slaughter God’s Domain to intensify his combat presence and resist suppression.

Ah Yin’s hundred-thousand-year ninth soul ring granted Tang Hao powerful recovery abilities. Together with his full set of soul bones, it allowed him to survive his injuries and advance to level 93, but could not fully repair the accumulated damage. Overusing his Soul Power risked worsening his injuries or killing him. 95

Ao Zhan’s Qingming Art was an attack used against Tang Hao, not one of Tang Hao’s own techniques. Tang Hao survived it during their first battle through the Asura God’s healing support. 27

Story Role / Major Arcs

Conflict over Ah Yin

Tang Hao resisted Qian Xunji’s attempt to seize Ah Yin, escaped with her briefly, and fought Martial Soul Hall’s pursuing Title Douluo. Ah Yin’s eventual sacrifice gave him a red hundred-thousand-year soul ring, but the incident left him seriously injured and bound him to an escalating conflict with Martial Soul Hall. 21 22 23

The confrontation was also the culmination of Tang Hao’s own plan to use Martial Soul Hall’s pursuit to force Ah Yin into sacrificing herself. Although he publicly presented himself as protecting Ah Yin, his private calculations centered on gaining her soul ring and soul bone to advance his strength and status. 21

He chose barren terrain without plants within a hundred li to deprive Ah Yin of favorable surroundings and make their predicament appear hopeless. He expected Tang Chen’s lingering prestige to prevent Qian Xunji from killing him once the sacrifice was complete. Although the Yin-Yang Stasis Domain disrupted his intended course of events, it could not prevent a soul beast’s sacrifice, and Ah Yin’s ring raised him directly from level 89 to level 92. 21 22

Defeat by Ao Zhan

After his escape, Tang Hao challenged Ao Zhan under repeated divine assistance from the Asura God. Ao Zhan evaded his hammer techniques through spatial power, injured his Clear Sky Hammer with the Azure Thunder Spear, and forced the Asura God to withdraw Tang Hao from the battle. Ao Zhan also stole Tang Hao’s storage Soul Tool and Ah Yin’s soul bone. 27 28

Ao Zhan provoked the fight by accusing Tang Hao of plotting Ah Yin’s sacrifice. Tang Hao wanted to kill him for exposing the secret, but lost his willingness to fight after Ao Zhan’s first punch shattered bones in his back. The Asura God then suppressed his injuries and renewed his fighting spirit in order to use him to test Ao Zhan’s abilities. 26

Tang Hao escaped with Tang San under divine protection and stopped in a valley with a waterfall. He initially believed Ah Yin’s seed and soul bone were safe, unaware that Ao Zhan had already stolen the storage ring containing both during the battle. 28

Consequences for the Clear Sky Sect

Martial Soul Hall publicized Tang Hao’s scheme, damaging both his reputation and that of the Clear Sky Sect. Tang Xiao came to believe that his younger brother had plotted against Ah Yin, while Tang Zhen and the elders refused to surrender Tang Hao because doing so would disgrace the sect and undermine Tang Chen’s prestige. They instead sought support from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect and the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. 59 60 61

After Martial Soul Hall defeated the sect and required its adults to lose an arm, Tang Hao learned of the disaster from tavern gossip. He wanted to retaliate against its branch halls and the affiliated clans that had submitted, but Martial Soul Hall’s warning made clear that the Clear Sky Sect would be punished even if he publicly renounced his membership. His attempt to vent his rage in a forest triggered his old injuries before he could summon the Clear Sky Hammer. 72 82

Holy Soul Village

Six years later, Tang Hao lived in Holy Soul Village as a blacksmith while guarding Tang San. He grew suspicious of Tang San’s abnormal behavior, but embraced him as his hope after witnessing his Twin Martial Souls and Innate Full Soul Power. 95 96 99

Before the awakening, Tang Hao had considered killing Tang San if his Martial Soul showed the corruption associated with possession by an Evil Soul Master. Instead, seeing the Clear Sky Hammer and Blue Silver Grass convinced him that Tang San’s unusual abilities were the result of his exceptional parentage. He instructed Tang San to use the hammer in his left hand to protect the grass in his right. 96 99

Tang Hao attempted to intercept Huo Linfei after learning that the boy had awakened a Qilin Martial Soul and might join Martial Soul Hall. Ao Zhan stopped the attack and wounded Tang Hao, reinforcing Tang Hao’s fear of confronting him directly. 99 101

During the confrontation, Qi Kuang pointed out that killing the children could not conceal Tang Hao’s identity: he had lived openly under his own name, and former village children attending Martial Soul Hall’s academy could identify him. Tang Hao recognized that exposure would invite further retaliation against the Clear Sky Sect. 100

Ao Zhan also told him that Tang Zhen had died at the Fourth Elder’s hands through Ao Zhan’s methods. Unable to avenge his father himself, Tang Hao placed renewed hope in Tang San’s Twin Martial Souls and potential to become a Limit Douluo. 101 102

Afterward, Tang Hao fled Holy Soul Village with Tang San because he feared retaliation from Martial Soul Hall. He accepted Tang San’s proposal to conceal themselves in Nuoding City instead. 104

Shrek Academy

Tang Hao continued to watch over Tang San during his time at Shrek Academy. After Ao Zhan confronted the academy and proposed a team match, Tang Hao chose not to remove Tang San and Xiao Wu. He hoped that remaining at Shrek would allow Tang San to cultivate useful alliances, and secretly left to seek Healing Soul Masters for the injured group. 175

His inability to oppose Ao Zhan directly shaped this decision. Although he normally would have intervened when Tang San was threatened, he recognized that Ao Zhan had nearly killed him previously and trusted that Tang San’s unusual methods might provide another way through the crisis. 175

Ah Yin’s Resurrection

While secretly watching over Tang San in the Star Dou Forest, Tang Hao saw Ah Yin alive again beside Ao Zhan. He recognized that her aura had reached the Super Douluo realm and feared that Ao Zhan was using her resurrection to provoke a conflict between Ah Yin and Tang San. 214

Tang Hao believed that Ah Yin’s restoration as Blue Silver Emperor would prevent Tang San from fully evolving his own Blue Silver Grass while she remained alive. From this, he concluded that Ao Zhan intended to force mother and son into a struggle over the emperor’s position. His injuries left him unable to defeat Ah Yin, much less intervene with Ao Zhan present. 214

When Ah Yin stripped Tang San of his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline, Tang Hao believed she had ruined the first Martial Soul on which he had pinned his hopes for Tang San’s future strength and revenge. He wanted to intervene but stayed hidden because Ao Zhan was present. 217

He also refrained from intervening during Tang San and Yu Xiaogang’s subsequent mistreatment, judging that Tang San was not in mortal danger and that challenging Ah Yin could cost him his life. Later, when Yuan Lie approached the group, Tang Hao prepared to flee with Tang San and Xiao Wu if the ape attacked, despite knowing he was no match for it. 223 229

Clear Sky Sect and Spirit City

After investigating rumors of an alliance between Spirit Hall and the Soul Beast Clan, Tang Hao returned to the ruined Clear Sky Sect. The sect’s survivors blamed him for their losses, but Tang Xiao eventually sent him into Spirit City to investigate the alliance and ordered him to self-destruct if discovered. 253 254 256

Before returning, he had investigated numerous Martial Soul Hall branch temples without finding useful evidence. He left Tang San in Yu Xiaogang’s care during this absence. His grief at Tang Zhen’s grave caused him to reveal himself to the sect’s disciples, who surrounded and denounced him. 252 253

Tang Xiao initially demanded that he surrender his inherited soul bone and title and await judgment in prison. Tang Hao used his aura to push approaching disciples back so he could speak, but deliberately avoided harming them. Tang Xiao later selected him for the mission because he was the sect’s strongest available fighter. 254 256

Tang Hao swore on his Martial Soul that he would return to the sect to accept judgment once the mission was complete. Yang Wudi, Bai He, and Niu Gao discovered him in Spirit City; when he tried to self-destruct, Ao Zhan stopped his time, captured him, and used the incident as a pretext for broader conflict with the Heaven Dou Empire. 256 257 258

The three former affiliated-clan leaders had all become Titled Douluo, making escape impossible for the injured Tang Hao. He regained awareness bound in a secret chamber, with his Soul Power sealed and even self-destruction no longer available. His capture later became part of Qian Xunji’s public justification for invading the Heaven Dou Empire. 257 258 264

Loss of Ah Yin’s Soul Ring and Death

After Tang Xiao was also captured, Ao Zhan crippled Tang Xiao’s Soul Power, sealed Tang Hao’s, and imprisoned the brothers together. Tang Hao’s faith in the Clear Sky Sect’s former strength collapsed after learning that even Tang Chen and three other Limit Douluo had been defeated by Ao Zhan. 278

While imprisoned, Tang Hao was forced to surrender the hundred-thousand-year soul ring that Ah Yin had sacrificed to give him. Its removal reduced him to the eightieth level and caused his long-suppressed injuries to flare up again. 279

Ao Zhan kept him alive with life energy, then crippled his remaining Soul Power by striking his dantian. He and Ah Yin brought both brothers out of the prison for a forced fight, with Tang Yuehua’s safety made conditional on Tang Xiao killing Tang Hao. 279

Tang Hao later resigned himself to death during Ao Zhan’s attempt to force him and Tang Xiao into fighting each other, believing his death might protect Tang Yuehua. Ao Zhan refused to permit either brother to hold back and made Tang Yuehua’s safety conditional on the fight; Tang Xiao ultimately killed Tang Hao by smashing his head with a hammer. 280

Both brothers fought with specially forged iron hammers rather than their Martial Souls. Tang Hao struck Tang Xiao in the chest, after which Tang Xiao broke his left shoulder and beat him to the ground. Tang Hao’s hostile glare helped turn Tang Xiao’s accumulated resentment over Ah Yin and the sect’s destruction into immediate killing intent. 280

Tang Hao had deliberately provoked Tang Xiao’s killing intent and held back in his final attack, effectively arranging his own death to satisfy Ao Zhan’s demands and protect Tang Yuehua. Afterward, Ao Zhan had Tang Hao’s body burned and his soul bones collected. Tang Yuehua survived, but Ao Zhan erased her memories and made her Ah Yin’s maid. 281

At the moment of Tang Hao’s death, Tang San felt a sudden pain in his chest at Shrek Academy, while Tang Chen experienced a bad premonition at the Clear Sky Sect. Xiong Shi later burned the brothers’ bodies, and Qian Xunji collected Tang Hao’s full set of soul bones from the ashes. 280 281
