Background / History

Xiao Wu entered Notting Academy as a transformed hundred-thousand-year Soft Bone Charm Rabbit, drawing the attention of both Tang Hao and Ao Zhan. While Ao Zhan could identify her true form, he was perplexed because the Star Dou Forest’s overlords insisted that no hundred-thousand-year Soft Bone Charm Rabbits had ever existed there. 105

The Sky Azure Bull Python and Titan Giant Ape later claimed that Xiao Wu had once lived beside the Lake of Life as their “Sister Xiao Wu.” Their testimony conflicted with the knowledge of every other Star Dou Forest overlord, including Ten Thousand Demon King, whose roots monitor the forest. Ao Zhan concluded that the pair’s memories had been tampered with. 123 124

The pair also remembered Xiao Wu fleeing after sensing the pressure from Ao Zhan’s Martial Soul awakening and discussing human transformation as a way to avoid the hundred-thousand-year soul-beast tribulation. Ao Zhan treated these recollections as part of the same suspected memory manipulation, rather than reliable evidence of her past. 124

The Asura God likewise claimed that he had found Xiao Wu in the Star Dou Forest. Ao Zhan regarded this account as impossible given the confirmed absence of hundred-thousand-year Soft Bone Charm Rabbits there, concluding that the Asura God’s method of perception had likely been deceived or distorted. 313

The Asura God specifically identified the Water Mirror Technique as the source of his observation. Ao Zhan’s broader investigation had found no traces of Xiao Wu’s earlier activity in the Star Dou Forest, Sunset Forest, or smaller soul-beast forests, making her appearance seem abrupt and unexplained. 313

She repeatedly identified herself as the “Star Dou Princess,” believing that the Star Dou Forest protected and answered to her. This belief proved false when no soul beasts answered her summons and a Golden-Eyed Black Dragon attacked her instead. 221 222

Separately from the unresolved question of her creation or origin, Xiao Wu was selected as a pawn by the Asura God. Because Tang San’s compatibility with Asura Divine Power was insufficient for his plans, the god intended Xiao Wu to inherit his divine position as the scabbard of the Asura Magic Sword. He intervened through the Destruction God King and Yu Tiankuo to prevent Chen Xin from taking her soul ring and soul bone. 240

Appearance

Xiao Wu was regarded as a notable beauty before Gu Yuena burned and permanently disfigured her face. She later wore a wig after losing her original hair. 394 395 407

It therefore did not establish that Xiao Wu had originally possessed that appearance. 395 443

Personality

Xiao Wu is fiercely attached to Tang San and reacts intensely whenever he is endangered. She repeatedly rushes into battle to avenge him, even when the difference in strength is overwhelming. 161 181 407

She is impulsive, proud, and prone to overestimating her position as the “Star Dou Princess.” Gu Ningqiu’s threats against the Soft Bone Charm Rabbit clan provoked her into an uncontrolled breakthrough and a futile attempt to command Star Dou Forest soul beasts. 221

Her memories and sense of identity are unreliable. After suffering a false or implanted recollection of Ao Zhan killing her mother, she became consumed by vengeance despite the evidence that such a mother did not exist in this continuity. 407 408

Despite her fear and physical trauma, Xiao Wu remains willing to endanger herself for her allies. She attempted to ambush Feng Yao in order to relieve the pressure on the Hell White Tiger and her teammates, even though his Super Martial Soul was far beyond her ability to resist. 461

Her repeated burns also caused genuine fear. After recovering from Qi Kuang’s attack, she questioned whether Shrek truly needed to fight the same opponents again, but Tang San’s reassurance restored her willingness to participate. 177

Xiao Wu arrives at Notting Academy shortly after Tang San. Her appearance confirms to Ao Zhan that a transformed hundred-thousand-year Soft Bone Charm Rabbit exists despite the lack of any record of such a creature in the Star Dou Forest. 105

Conflicts with the Super Beast Team

She accompanies Tang San into conflicts with Martial Soul Hall-aligned fighters. Qi Kuang burns her into a charred state when she intervenes against him, and Tian Yu later severely injures her with Void Slash and a kick. 162 181

Tang San carried her to Shrek Academy after the Rose Hotel confrontation, where Flender summoned Shao Xin to help. With Tang Hao’s secret assistance, Tang San subsequently found healing-type soul masters, and Xiao Wu and the other injured students recovered after several days of treatment. 169 177

Star Dou Forest Confrontation

Xiao Wu fights Gu Ningqiu while claiming the Lake of Life’s power protects her. After being repeatedly injured, she condenses her third soul ring and gains Teleportation, but remains completely outclassed. 220 221

Before her breakthrough, Gu Ningqiu revealed that the Sky Azure Bull Python and Titan Giant Ape were dead and displayed their soul bones after Xiao Wu’s attempts to summon them failed. Their deaths intensified her rage. 219

Her subsequent attempt to command other soul beasts instead brought Di Tian’s attack. He restrained her with spatially empowered chains and declared Gu Ningqiu the true Star Dou Princess. Gu Ningqiu then subjected Xiao Wu to the “Gecko Game,” breaking her fingers while asking subtraction questions. 221 222

When Xiao Wu was later returned to the others, she remained deeply unconscious and smelled of blood, but Tang San’s examination found no wounds. 227

Exposure and Protection

Chen Xin recognizes Xiao Wu as a transformed hundred-thousand-year soul beast and threatens to take her, using Tang San’s safety to prevent her escape or sacrifice. His attitude abruptly changes after intervention connected to Yu Tiankuo and the gods’ larger plans. 238 240

The intervention originated with the Asura God, who asked the Destruction God King to protect Xiao Wu as part of his succession plans. Yu Tiankuo conveyed the resulting instruction, prompting Chen Xin to apologize and promise not to kill her. 240

Preliminary Tournament Defeats

Xiao Wu repeatedly suffered injuries during Shrek’s preliminary matches. Gu Ningqiu intercepted and overwhelmed her against the Golden Team, while Shui Bing’er’s combined freezing and Ice Blast attacks injured her along with the rest of Shrek during their earlier team match. 324 326 339

The Blazing Fire Team deliberately exploited Xiao Wu’s impulsiveness and Tang San’s reactions to her suffering. After provoking her before the match, they engulfed her teleportation attack in flames, then struck Tang San while he was building up his rage. 371

In the final preliminary round, Xiao Wu used Teleportation to harass Tian Yu and Ye Lingyun, briefly delaying both fighters. When she stopped to threaten them after seeing Tang San burned, Tian Yu slashed her and cut off her braid, while Ye Lingyun joined the attack and helped defeat her. 374 377

Gu Yuena’s Captivity

After fleeing the Sea God Church with Tang San, Xiao Wu is captured by Gu Yuena. Her Teleportation is sealed, her limbs are broken, and Gu Yuena burns her face with Alien Energy-infused flames that cannot be healed. 390 391 393 395

Gu Yuena used Xiao Wu’s suffering to test Tang San’s professed love. Xiao Wu urged Gu Yuena to target her rather than torture Tang San, but later fainted in despair when he hesitated to kiss her altered face. 393 394 395

False Memory and Critical Injury

During the Soul Master Tournament, Xiao Wu attacks Shui Bing'er after Tang San is defeated. A false memory then surfaces in which Ao Zhan and several Martial Soul Hall worshippers kill her supposed mother. Driven by this belief, she continues attacking until Shui Bing’er freezes and explodes her blood, leaving her in critical condition. 407 408

Her mask was also destroyed by the explosions, but she fell facedown, preventing the arena from seeing her face. Liu Erlong then concealed Xiao Wu’s face against her chest while carrying her away. 408

Failed Facial Restoration

After Tang San asks Poseidon to restore Xiao Wu’s appearance, Poseidon possesses Bo Saixi and attempts treatment with Sea God’s Light while Xiao Wu sleeps. The divine healing fails entirely, confirming that Gu Yuena’s injuries cannot be repaired through ordinary divine restoration. 442 443

Poseidon investigated further by sending Bo Saixi’s Sea God Martial Soul into her body and entering her sea of consciousness. Finding no detectable damage, he observed that the scars appeared to be her soul’s natural form. He rejected the apparent implication that her former beauty had been a disguise, blamed Gu Yuena’s unknown methods, and told Tang San that the supposed soul injury exceeded his healing ability. 443

Gu Yuena had previously explained that her flames made soul burns appear natural to divine observers, depriving them of a recognizable injury to heal. Restoring such damage would require creating a complete soul from nothing, an ability the gods of the Douluo Universe did not possess. 395

Later Tournament Battles

Xiao Wu continues competing despite her injuries and disfigurement. She uses Teleportation against Yu Tiankuo and later attempts to ambush Feng Yao to support the Hell White Tiger, but Feng Yao’s Super Martial Soul pressure pins her down before he defeats her and shatters her mask. 457 461

Before those encounters, she insisted on challenging Gu Ningqiu despite Tang San’s hesitation, invoking her supposed mother’s death and Gu Ningqiu’s association with Ao Zhan. Her teleportation ambush failed against a blinding golden flash and a fire-infused kick that fractured her left shoulder and severely burned her. 438

Feng Yao’s destruction of her mask publicly exposed her ruined face. Spectators connected her condition and Tang San’s concealed facial markings to Martial Soul Hall’s earlier attacks on the Heaven Dou Imperial Palace and Sea God Church, provoking dark reactions from Tang Chen and Bo Saixi. 461

Tournament Prizes and Losers’ Bracket Strategy

After Shrek reached the tournament’s top three, Xiao Wu was particularly determined to secure a higher placement because two of the hundred-thousand-year soul-bone prizes came from the Sky Azure Bull Python and Titan Giant Ape. Tang San proposed forfeiting the individual elimination tournament to conserve their strength and pursue second place through the losers’ bracket team match. 504

Ao Zhan anticipated the plan and ordered the Super Beast Team to forfeit as well, ensuring they would face Shrek in that bracket. Gu Ningqiu protested because she wanted another opportunity to confront Xiao Wu, but Ao Zhan rejected the Golden Team’s objections. 504

Soul Ancestor Breakthrough and Invincible Golden Body

During the losers’ bracket match, Huo Linfei’s Phantom Qilin God shattered Shrek’s formation and injured all seven members. As he prepared another Fire Cloud Art, Xiao Wu’s terror, rage, and memories of her supposed mother’s death triggered a surge from Soul Elder to Soul Ancestor. Her fourth ring formed in front of the arena, revealing her transformed soul-beast identity to previously unaware spectators. Shrek’s powerful backers discouraged open attempts to seize her. 509

Xiao Wu teleported into the attack’s path and activated her new fourth skill, emerging unharmed. She then repeatedly attacked the Phantom Qilin God while declaring that Huo Linfei had to pay for Ao Zhan’s supposed killing of her mother. Neither her kicks nor her rapid repositioning could overcome his defenses. 510

After surviving another burst of flame, she revealed Invincible Golden Body’s three-second immunity to attacks below god level. Huo Linfei remained unimpressed, and Ye Lingyun correctly identified the existence of additional restrictions. Huo Linfei forced her third and final daily activation, then continued attacking until she failed to evade Fire Cloud Art and was badly burned. 511

Tang San, initially unable to move because his meridians were overloaded, reacted to her injury by rising and manifesting a Tool Martial Soul Avatar without the team’s assistance. Ao Zhan and the Asura God recognized the emerging energy as divine power resembling the Sea God’s. Despite this resurgence, Huo Linfei ultimately defeated Shrek, whose members were carried away gravely wounded.
