Background

Qian Daoliu is the Grand Elder of Martial Soul Hall, head of the Qian Clan, and High Priest connected to the Angel God. His Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul made him one of the continent's defining powerhouses, historically known as “Sky Invincible” for his aerial speed and the sunlight-enhanced power of his light-and-fire attributes. He formerly served as both Pope and Judgment Elder of Martial Soul Hall. 4 85 201 427

In his youth, he fought Tang Chen, but lost after choosing to meet the Clear Sky Hammer wielder in a direct clash rather than using the Six-Winged Angel's superior mobility and ranged fighting potential. Tang Chen later acknowledges that Qian Daoliu had not used Angel Divine Power in that battle and was stronger than public accounts suggested. Golden Crocodile also confirms that Tang Chen narrowly won only after detonating all nine of his soul rings. 4 268 270

Qian Daoliu also deliberately lost to Bo Saixi, allowing her to believe that he was the weakest among the three great Limit Douluo. This concealment contributed to her long-standing misunderstanding of his true strength. 284

While away from Martial Soul City, Qian Daoliu detected the spatial disturbance caused by three-year-old Ao Zhan's arrival on the Douluo Continent. He secretly observed the child, prepared to eliminate him if he proved malicious, but instead saw Ao Zhan aid Ye Renxin in gathering herbs from a cliff. Convinced of the boy's character, Qian Daoliu brought him into Martial Soul Hall. 8 55

Following the emergence of Pluto's Exotic Energy, Qian Daoliu accepts Tian Yu, an infant connected to Pluto's power, as his beloved daughter. 45 46

Tian Yu appears near his courtyard because he carries Pluto's Exotic Energy. Rather than being the original Tian Yu, the infant is the personification of her Exotic Energy. Qian Daoliu accepts this unusual familial bond and allows Qian Renxue to continue addressing Tian Yu as a sister rather than requiring her to call the child her aunt. 45 46

Appearance

Following the awakening of Pluto's Exotic Energy, Qian Daoliu's formerly holy aura becomes cold and dark; his hair and eyes are black, and his transformed Six-Winged Angel radiates abyssal power rather than light. 34 36 203

Personality

Qian Daoliu is cautious, observant, and deeply protective of Martial Soul Hall and the Qian Clan. Before admitting Ao Zhan into the Hall, he watched the unfamiliar child in secret and was prepared to act if he found malicious intent. He later restrains the elders during Ao Zhan's confrontation with Bibi Dong so that he can assess the boy's true capabilities. 8

He believes that the younger generation must eventually face its own challenges rather than depend on its elders to resolve every problem. Nevertheless, when allowing Ao Zhan to fight Bibi Dong, he remains prepared to intervene immediately and trusts his exceptional speed to keep the children safe. 7 8

He is particularly devoted to Qian Renxue, celebrating her Innate Soul Power Level 20 and preserving his scarce Angel Divine Power for her future god trials even while Qian Xunji's Martial Soul requires healing. He also seeks assurance that Ao Zhan will protect Qian Renxue for life before accepting the closeness between the two. 2 16 32

His earlier chivalrous principles leave him deeply troubled by Qian Xunji's violation of Bibi Dong. Although Ao Zhan argues that Qian Xunji acted to prevent her betrayal of Martial Soul Hall, Qian Daoliu remains internally divided, recognizing that other punishments were possible and regarding his son's method as a disgrace to the Qian Clan's traditions. 11

Though formerly inclined toward chivalrous conduct, his awakening of Pluto's Exotic Energy changes his outlook. He ceases opposing Martial Soul Hall's campaign against the Clear Sky Sect and becomes willing to intimidate and cripple its disciples. However, he retains a firm moral boundary: the Upper Three Sects' abduction of the infant Ye Lingling enrages him, prompting him to personally intervene. Pluto's loneliness and coldness make Qian Daoliu more detached toward outsiders, including his former associates Tang Chen and Bo Saixi, while he remains fiercely protective of his relatives and close companions. When the two later appeal to their former friendship, he rejects it and disputes Bo Saixi's claim that the Sea God's backing makes them untouchable. 150 466

His changed outlook also extends to combat. In his rematch with Tang Chen, he refuses to abandon his aerial advantage despite being called a coward, instead maintaining his distance and defeating Tang Chen through ranged attacks and energy absorption. 524 525

Ao Zhan's Arrival and Martial Soul Awakening

Qian Daoliu brings Ao Zhan to Martial Soul Hall after witnessing his character and unusual abilities. He presides over Qian Renxue's and Ao Zhan's Martial Soul awakenings, responding with elation when Ao Zhan's Innate Soul Power is confirmed at Level 40. 2 3 8

Recognizing that the children's extraordinary talents could make them targets, he orders the elders to strengthen their protection rather than preemptively attack other factions. He then secretly follows Ao Zhan and Qian Renxue to protect them himself. 4

During Bibi Dong's attack on Ao Zhan and Qian Renxue, he holds the elders back to observe Ao Zhan's concealed power, then intervenes with the High Priests and orders Bibi Dong to withdraw. 6 8 9

Afterward, Qian Daoliu and the elders examine Ao Zhan and discover that he is unharmed and has reached Level 43 without acquiring a soul ring. Qian Daoliu warns him that Bibi Dong may target him again and discusses the Qian Clan scandal behind her hostility. Ao Zhan's deductions about Qian Xunji and Bibi Dong astonish him and leave him reconsidering his judgment of his son's actions. 10 11

Qian Xunji's Injury and Pluto's Awakening

After Tang Hao severely injures Qian Xunji, Qian Daoliu cannot heal the damage to his son's Martial Soul through ordinary means. He prepares to use limited Angel Divine Power while preserving enough for Qian Renxue's god trials. 31 32

Bibi Dong's apparent murder of Qian Xunji triggers Qian Daoliu's dormant Pluto Exotic Energy. Ao Zhan awakens him from Pluto's “hundred-thousand-year loneliness,” after which Qian Daoliu must confront the loss of his holy power and appearance. 34 35 36

After Bibi Dong reveals that she devoured Qian Xunji's soul, Qian Daoliu helps restrain the grieving Qian Renxue and assesses the divine power within Bibi Dong. Ao Zhan ultimately uses time reversal to retrieve Qian Xunji from the moment of his death and restore him. 35 36

Alliance with the Soul Beast Clan

Upon learning of the Angel God's likely fate and the Asura God King's hostility toward Martial Soul Hall, Qian Daoliu accepts Pluto's Exotic Energy as a path to strength. Clear Sky Sect Conflicts

Qian Daoliu does not oppose Martial Soul Hall's assault on the Clear Sky Sect, despite his past ties to Tang Chen. 66

When the Upper Three Sects abduct Ye Lingling to coerce Ye Renxin, Qian Daoliu personally joins Ao Zhan's rescue operation. He incapacitates Clear Sky Sect disciples, terrifies the sect elders through his presence, and serves as the diversion that enables Ao Zhan to retrieve Ye Lingling. 85 86 87

Defeat of Yu Yuanzhen

At the World-Destroying Thunder Dragon Sect, Qian Daoliu demands compensation for Thunder Academy's slander of Ao Zhan. Yu Yuanzhen challenges him in the sky, believing that Qian Daoliu's transformed dark power has removed his historic advantage. 201 202

Qian Daoliu instead masters his Pluto Armament in battle, counters the Nirvana Thunder Domain with black holes, and defeats Yu Yuanzhen without needing to consume him. He collects the one million Gold Soul Coins owed to Martial Soul Hall and returns after gathering intelligence on the sect. 203 204

Tang Chen's Return

After becoming the Asura God's High Priest, Tang Chen challenges Martial Soul Hall in an attempt to settle matters with Qian Daoliu. Di Tian accepts the challenge in Qian Daoliu's stead, and Qian Daoliu later joins Di Tian in beating back Tang Chen when he continues provoking Martial Soul Hall. Qian Daoliu informs Tang Chen that Tang Hao and Tang Xiao have died. 268 296

Later, Tang Chen, Bo Saixi, and Tang San are intercepted after suspiciously following Martial Soul Hall elder Lin Dongyao. Qian Daoliu arrives with Qian Xunji and refuses Tang Chen's and Bo Saixi's appeals to their former friendship. He argues with Tang Chen over responsibility for the Clear Sky Sect's destruction and accuses Tang Hao of manipulating Martial Soul Hall into appearing to be the villain. When Tang Chen demands a one-on-one duel after recovering from his injuries, Qian Daoliu agrees to fight him after the Soul Master Tournament Grand Finals. 466 467

Qian Daoliu offers seven Spirit Bones belonging to Tang Hao and Tang Xiao as stakes. The Asura God takes control of Tang Chen's body to accept the terms and also arranges a subsequent rematch against Ao Zhan. The wager allows Tang Chen to recover the Clear Sky Sect's inherited Spirit Bones if he wins; if he loses, he must kneel and kowtow before the Angel God Statue. 467 526

Rematch with Tang Chen

Following the tournament, Qian Daoliu confronts Tang Chen and produces Tang Hao's and Tang Xiao's Spirit Bones to invoke their agreed duel. He enters his Armament, but Ao Zhan asks them to fight elsewhere so that Martial Soul Hall will not bear the cost of damaged buildings. 523

During the fight, Qian Daoliu stays aloft and attacks with devouring sword energy rather than repeating his former mistake of meeting Tang Chen head-on. Tang Chen's attempts to provoke him into close combat fail, and even the killing intent of his Slaughter Domain is absorbed. Qian Daoliu then unleashes Black Sea Abyss, draining Tang Chen's Soul Power and Asura Divine Power and devastating the surrounding forest. 524 525

An immense spatial force returns both fighters to the square outside the Pope Palace. Qian Daoliu remains uninjured with a steady aura, while Tang Chen is so depleted that he cannot speak, shocking Bo Saixi and the others who expected his victory. 525

After the Asura God restores Tang Chen's power, Qian Daoliu demands that he honor the wager. With his own god having accepted the terms, Tang Chen has no grounds to refuse. Qian Daoliu makes him kneel before the Angel God Statue and kowtow thirty-six times before declaring the obligation fulfilled. 526 527
