What Would You Do
"Mr. Chopper, why didn't you grind the lionfish bones into powder before adding them to the crucible, as the book instructed?"
During Potions Class, Snape stared at Kyle and said sarcastically, "Do you think you're some kind of Potions genius, daring to tamper with the textbook?"
"Because of your arrogance, Hufflepuff loses five points."
Kyle looked up at the blackboard.
It clearly states: Do not grind the lionfish bones; simply boil in boiling water for five minutes and then cut into sections.
Such large characters, and written by Snape himself, how could it be considered that he tampered with the textbook?
"Professor..." Kyle took a deep breath and read in as normal a voice as possible, "That's what you wrote on the blackboard."
"Oh, I made a mistake."
Snape calmly waved his wand, erasing the sentence on the blackboard.
"Does what I write necessarily mean it's right? What about your judgment? If I said I wanted to incorporate my own inner thoughts, would you do it anyway?"
"Because you have no opinions of your own, Hufflepuff deducts another three points."
Even as class ended, Kyle clutched the Rock Cake tightly in his pocket, hesitating whether to toss it onto the back of Snape's head.
Although Snape had been deducting points from himself for no reason for a long time, today he went particularly far, resorting to any means to lose points, even losing all sense of shame.
Can you really erase what you wrote yourself?
This kind of outrageous move that broke his back must have been an eye-opener for Kyle.
Of course, the effect was immediate; in just one class, Kyle lost more than thirty points.
Since enrolling, he hasn't lost as many points in any of his other courses combined as he did in this one class.
The other badger cubs came over to comfort him, and even Kanna kindly handed him a piece of Licorice Candy.
Kyle glanced at it and then chose to ignore it.
During dinner, Fred and George heard about what happened in Potions Class and came over to pat Kyle on the shoulder, comforting him, "It's okay, Snape has been deducting points from us too, it's nothing."
"Yes, pfft... I mean, you need to take it easy."
The two offered words of comfort, but their faces wore undisguised smiles.
It's obvious they're just here to see a joke.
Just as Kyle was about to shoo the two away, Fred leaned closer and whispered, "Alright, stop thinking about those unpleasant things. I'll show you something good."
He looked around and carefully took a square piece of parchment out of his pocket.
"Remember what I wanted to tell you a few days ago? It's about this." George leaned closer and whispered, "A magical item, I bet you'd never guess what it is."
"Could it be..." Kyle raised an eyebrow, a puzzled look on his face, "This is parchment that can automatically do homework?"
"..."
The twins, who had been so smug just moments before, suddenly stiffened their expressions.
"If only..." Fred said wistfully, "I really hope it is."
"But its real purpose is also fantastic," George said. "It's a map of Hogwarts, of course, not the ordinary kind you sell."
We call it the Marauder's Map.
Fred then took out his wand and gently tapped it on the parchment.
"I solemnly swear..."
In an instant, fine lines of ink, like a spider web, spread out from where the tip of the wand touched, connecting with each other and extending to every corner of the parchment.
Then, large green cursive characters appeared at the top.
"Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs."
Introducing, gentlemen, our dedicated ally for magical pranksters!
Marauder's Map.
Kyle took the parchment from Fred and carefully examined the famous Marauder's Map.
This map depicts every detail of Hogwarts Castle, far more detailed than a regular map; it's practically a microcosm of Hogwarts.
Everything in the castle, whether it's a painting, a rug, or even a vase, can be found on the map.
Most unusually, there were also many small black dots moving on the map, each labeled with its name in extremely small font.
Kyle saw Dumbledore in the Headmaster's Office, and also saw Filch and Peeves moving quickly from the fifth-floor corridor to the sixth floor.
All of this is clearly displayed.
But it won't work in crowded places... like the Great Hall we have now.
Numerous names overlapped, and it was all too dark to make out.
Additionally, Kyle noticed that the map didn't seem to show the locations of all the secret passages.
Because the location of the Whomping Willow" on the map is empty; there's nothing there.
Kyle handed the map back to Fred and asked, "How did you get it?"
"We were in first grade back then, young, carefree, and innocent..." Fred and George squinted, lost in memories.
"For some trivial matter, Filch pulled us into his office and threatened to..."
"Solitary confinement."
"To cut open the stomach"
"And we couldn't help but spot one of his filing cabinet drawers, which was marked, 'Confiscated Items, High Danger.'"
Fred suddenly chuckled and said, "Kyle, what would you do in my shoes?"
Kyle thought for a moment and said, "I'll lure Peeves there and give him plenty of Dungbomb or Pepper Bomb, then take advantage of the chaos to empty that drawer."
"..."
Fred and George stared, speechless for a long time. After a while, Fred finally shook his head and said, "Kyle, you deserved to have Snape deduct thirty points from your score. Really, you didn't wrong yourself."
"Don't bring up things you don't want to talk about," Kyle said, giving him an annoyed look. "So, this is the map you took from that drawer."
"Yes," George clicked his tongue and said, "We don't have your guts, so we only took this."
"But how did you know how to use it?" Kyle flipped through the parchment. "It's not written here."
"Speaking of which... we have to mention Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs," Fred exclaimed. "Those four are absolute geniuses at pranks."
"They broke up the password and hid it in every corner of the castle," George said. "Once we find all the clues, we'll get the complete password."
"Unfortunately, we've been searching for a year..." Fred said regretfully, "But we still haven't found the complete password."
"Therefore, we can only use the map five times a day, and each time for only half an hour," George said with a smile. "It's a great undertaking, and we're prepared to complete it in three years."
"What if we still can't find it in three years?" Kyle asked.
"That just means we don't deserve it," George shrugged. "We'll find it a new owner."
"Is that so?" Kyle said. "So you showed it to me so that I would join you in searching for clues?"
"No, no, no, Kyle," Fred shook his head and said, "The password is a test given to us by those four seniors; we have to complete it ourselves."
"So, this time..."
"Let's go for a night stroll!" Fred and George said in unison.
