Kyle, Do You Have Rat Poison?

For the next few weeks, Kyle went to the Room of Requirement almost every day, not only to take care of the newborn Devil's Snare, but also to keep an eye on the Biting Cabbage.

Once they reach maturity, they can briefly break free from the soil and wander around using their outermost, broad leaves.

However, Kyle wasn't too worried about this, since the Biting Cabbage wouldn't easily leave its comfortable soil unless provoked by other creatures.

Kyle was worried that they would spit out seeds indiscriminately.

Mature Biting Cabbage can spray their seeds at any time, and the distance depends entirely on their mood, sometimes reaching hundreds of meters away.

The Room of Requirement isn't very big, but it would be troublesome if these seeds happened to take root near Mooncalf or Devil's Snare.

Biting Cabbage is a very difficult plant to transplant, especially in the early stages of sprouting. If the surrounding environment changes even slightly, it will readily nibble away at you.

Only a master botanist like Professor Sprout could accomplish such a task that demands exceptional skill and experience.

Kyle was still a bit lacking, so he could only use the simplest method: collect the seeds before they sprouted and plant them in suitable places.

After more than a month of hard work, five Biting Cabbage were already in the Room of Requirement before the Easter holidays.

Two mature ones, and three newly sprouted ones.

After confirming that no seeds had been missed, Kyle felt much relieved; at least he no longer had to run to the Room of Requirement every day.

However, Cedric got busy, and not only him, but all the other Hufflepuff Quidditch players were too.

Harris was more demanding of them than ever before, and his enthusiasm for training did not cool down in the slightest, even during the continuous rainy days after the heavy snow.

But no one else complained.

If they win their next match against Slytherin, they will surpass Gryffindor in the overall score and become the house with the highest overall score.

If they win the final match or avoid being overtaken by other houses, they will become champions and bring the Quidditch Cup back to Hufflepuff.

In pursuit of final victory, all the team members transformed into training fanatics, wishing they could live and eat at the Quidditch Pitch.

Of course, it's pretty much the same in Gryffindor.

However, Slytherin seemed to be giving up; they would train as usual every day and then dismiss everyone at the designated time, not staying a second longer.

This is not surprising, because they only have a chance to win the championship if they beat Hufflepuff by 300 points in the next game.

But that's obviously unrealistic; it might be more possible if it were Ravenclaw's easy-to-win team.

During the Defence Against the Dark Arts in the morning, Kyle looked forward to tomorrow's match while taking notes on various treatments for the Werewolf bite.

"Remember, the mixture of Dittany and silver powder can only seal the wound; it cannot stop the Werewolf transformation."

On the podium, Professor Oren solemnly said, "If you don't have a sure chance of winning, the best thing to do when you encounter Werewolf is to run. Run as fast as you can. When choosing spells, focus on creating obstacles to buy yourself time to escape, rather than trying to fight back against them."

Sometimes, carrying Broomstick is a good habit; it can save your life in a critical moment.

After memorizing all this information, Professor Oren used Transfiguration Spell to transform the podium into Werewolf, and then had the young wizards come forward for a practical exercise.

While waiting in line, Kanna leaned close to Kyle and whispered, "Do you have any rat poison?"

"Rat poison?"

Kyle blinked and said, "What, has Pochi fallen out of favor?"

Even if it's fallen out of favor, you don't need to kill it. Just give it to Percy; Scabbers is looking for a wife."

"What are you thinking? I would never give Pochi away."

Kanna nudged Kyle and said irritably, "I meant the medicine for treating rats. Pochi's been sick lately and has no energy at all."

"Sick?" Kyle frowned. "Have you been giving it its rat tonic on time?"

Kanna nodded and said, "Of course, I've fed her on time every month without fail."

"That shouldn't be the case." Kyle scratched his head in confusion. "Did I buy fake materials?"

The rat tonic he sold to Kanna wasn't the kind of sugary drink you find in Diagon Alley; it was a special tonic Newt developed specifically for Murtlap.

For ordinary field mice, this stuff is practically a "fountain of life." As long as they drink a small bottle every month, they can live a healthy life until they die of old age.

"Are you sure it's sick?" Kyle asked again.

"I'm sure, it was sneezing last night." Kanna thought for a moment and said, "I suspect it's related to the heavy rain during Flying Class a few days ago; everyone in our dorm caught a cold then."

"Maybe..."

Kyle glanced at the few people remaining in front of him and pulled Kanna to the back of the line.

"I do know a rat poison recipe, but I'm missing some Potions ingredients."

Kyle stroked his fingers, thought for a while, and then said, "How about this, you give Pochi a bottle of rat tonic tonight and see."

If that still doesn't work, I'll send the owl to Hogsmeade to buy it after the Quidditch Match tomorrow."

After a moment's hesitation, Kyle suddenly asked, "By the way, you've also lost Galleon recently... Sickle and Knut count too."

"After I got the handbag you gave me, it's gone." Kangna asked doubtfully, "What's wrong?"

"It's nothing," Kyle chuckled. "I just wanted to make sure you could afford it."

"Um... is it very expensive?" Kanna took out the pink handbag and said nervously, "I only have a dozen or so Galleon left."

"That's enough," Kyle said. "They're all very common materials, only a few Sickle."

Kanna patted her chest and breathed a sigh of relief, "Phew, that's good."

As the two spoke, fewer and fewer junior wizards remained in line; soon it was their turn for practical training.

The main problem was that the young wizards had too few spells. When faced with the "Werewolf" controlled by Professor Oren, they were practically powerless to resist and were captured within seconds.

How could it not be fast?

After holding out for a minute, Kanna also succumbed to the "wolf's kiss."

Kyle was the last one.

However, instead of running away immediately like the others, he quickly took out his wand and pointed it towards the classroom door.

"The Broomstick Accio!"

A few seconds later, an old-fashioned Comet smashed open the classroom door, carrying Kyle, who was running around the room, into the air.

"The correct answer... If you look closely, you'll see that I already left the broom by the door beforehand. Even without the Summoning Charm, you can easily open the door and get it."

Professor Oren looked somewhat disappointed. He deactivated the Transfiguration spell on the podium and exclaimed, "Hufflepuff, ten points!"
