Quidditch Match
The next morning, before the Quidditch Match began, Kyle met Cedric in front of the Hufflepuff dressing room.
Compared to a week ago, he had lost a lot of weight and looked extremely tired, but his eyes were brighter.
"We will definitely win!"
Cedric, holding his Nimbus 1700, turned and resolutely walked into the locker room.
However, Kyle could tell that he was still a little nervous, since Cedric usually didn't walk with his legs crossed.
When Kyle arrived at the stands, they were already packed with people. As one of Hogwarts' most popular events, the Quidditch Pitch stands were always overflowing with people.
Especially in a crucial match like today's.
Kyle squeezed through the crowd and got a good spot in the first row of the stands, where Mikel and Ryan had already secured it for him.
Kanna, who was standing next to him, handed him a banner embroidered with a badger and the words "Hufflepuff will win." The little witch had made it herself and even used developing solution; the badger on it was waving its front paws incessantly.
Kyle took it and immediately used Levitation Charm to place it in the most conspicuous spot nearby.
"We're going to win!" Mikel said excitedly. "I have a feeling Hufflepuff will bring the Quidditch Cup this year!"
"Of course," Kyle said in full agreement. "Mikel, I'm sure you have the talent to Seer."
"Haha, I think so too," Mikel grinned.
Just then, the players entered the field.
"Look, they're here!"
In the stands, a seventh-grade student with long blond hair held a microphone and shouted, "First to enter is the Slytherin Quidditch team!"
Although they lost many points in previous matches due to unforeseen circumstances, they did not give up. Instead, led by captain Rosier, they fought back and defeated Ravenclaw and the number one ranked Gryffindor.
"Can they create a miracle and achieve a three-peat in today's match? Let's wait and see!"
"Oh! The Hufflepuff team has appeared too!"
The commentator raised his voice again, "First up is captain Harris, an excellent Chaser. His goal-scoring record remains unbroken. Hufflepuff's success today is largely due to Harris."
"Following him is the Beater..."
"Finally, there's the Seeker Cedric Diggory, who also fills the only gap in the Hufflepuff team!"
"The two teams are evenly matched, making this a match that everyone should look forward to."
The commentator became more and more excited as he spoke, and his whole body was almost leaning out of the stands.
Under his leadership, the cheers from the stands never stopped, and the yellow and green flags surged like waves.
However, the number of people who support Hufflepuff is relatively larger, accounting for about three-quarters of the total.
Gryffindor would definitely not support Slytherin.
Although Ravenclaw's stance wasn't as firm as theirs, the badgers were generally well-liked, and Harris would sometimes go easy on them in games, preventing Ravenclaw from losing too badly.
So at this point, most of the hawks also chose to support Hufflepuff.
"Both sides have taken their positions, and the match is about to begin!"
Madam Hooch, carrying her Broomstick, came to the center of the field as the referee.
"Listen, I want everyone to compete fairly and honestly. Now, captain, shake hands."
Harris and Rosier each stepped forward, shook each other's hands very firmly, then quickly released them and returned to their previous positions.
After everyone was on their Broomstick, Madam Hooch blew her silver whistle with all her might.
Fifteen Broomstick soared into the air and rose high into the sky.
The match has begun.
"The Quaffle was first caught by Harris of Hufflepuff; his performance remains as consistent as ever..."
Marcus Flint went down to try and stop Harris's attack... a beautiful feint, Harris dodged it, and now he was right in front of the Slytherin goalpost.
Goalkeeper Bletchley swooped in... Could he hold it off...? He missed! The Quaffle went in! Harris scores!
10-0, Hufflepuff takes the lead!
"Oh~~~"
The cheers of Hufflepuff supporters echoed in the cold air, mixed with the roars and groans of the Slytherin.
Kanna excitedly grabbed Kyle's arm and shook it.
Originally, this was just a normal action, it's just that the little witch's strength was a bit ridiculous.
Kyle felt as if his arm was being clamped by two pairs of pliers, and he grimaced in pain.
He couldn't understand how Kanna, who looked so thin and frail and didn't eat much, could have so much energy.
Fortunately, her attention quickly returned to the game.
Kyle rubbed his arm and subtly moved to the side.
In that brief moment of distraction, the situation on the field changed dramatically. Marcus successfully stole the Quaffle, and Slytherin Quidditch Team, taking advantage of their brooms, rushed to Hufflepuff's goalposts before Harris and the others could.
"Marcus throws... no, he passes!"
With a beautiful feint, he fooled everyone, including the Hufflepuff goalkeeper. Rosier scored, and Slytherin won a round.
Ten to ten!
This time, it was Slytherin' turn to cheer.
"Two goals in less than a minute, two near-perfect feints."
The commentator, his face flushed with excitement, exclaimed, "That was fantastic! This match was absolutely amazing!"
The match continued, and both sides scored goals, keeping the score close.
Especially in the first twenty minutes, Hufflepuff fought with all their might and only managed to take a slight lead by ten points.
The Slytherin players were playing like they were on drugs, incredibly aggressive. Marcus Flint even rode a broomstick right when the goalkeeper missed, using his face to block the Quaffle that was about to score.
At that moment, not only Slytherin, but almost everyone cheered for him. Even his rival Harris and Gryffindor's Charlie gave him a thumbs up.
Regardless of how many underhanded tactics Marcus may have used in previous matches, his actions at this moment are at least admirable.
However, the situation changed after thirty minutes.
Slytherin's speed visibly slowed down, and they weren't as aggressive in either offense or defense as before.
In just about ten minutes, Hufflepuff scored three goals, bringing the score to 90-50.
