• Ailin explained that Tyranny’s pursuit would have caused a Transcendent’s death, setting off events that led to the Black Abyss Dragon’s 2018 attack on the Golden Scale Empire.

They left to visit Zhu Li’s house, hoping to learn more about the trial’s version of the Flame Ghost.

• Lin Yue picked the lock to Chen Xi’s old apartment, where they searched the empty rooms and found nothing at first.
• Lin Yue noticed a ten-year-old notebook, and Chen Xi realized it was the one she had used during her first Regression.
• Chen Xi told Lin Yue about the notebook and connected its appearance to the Hand of God, which had previously pushed Lin Yue to seek her out.
• Lin Yue suggested that the notebook’s cover might contain a message, but neither she nor Chen Xi understood the image of a hand with four visible fingers.

Lin Yue and Chen Xi found young Zhu Li in the Trial Space and brought the future Zhu Li back into view. The reunited pair prepared to go inside and explain what was happening.

• Lin Yue and Chen Xi searched for Zhu Li’s childhood home and found her family’s villa.
• Chen Xi coaxed the frightened little Zhu Li into opening the door by claiming they were friends from the future.
• Chen Xi deactivated the “Indulgence” CG, making Zhu Li reappear in the Trial Space.
• Zhu Li saw her childhood self and asked Lin Yue and Chen Xi if they had traveled through time.
• Little Zhu Li tugged Zhu Li’s clothes and asked if she was really her future self, and Zhu Li smiled and nodded.

Chen Xi and Lin Yue learned how Zhu Li became host to the Flame Ghost and encouraged her to kill it herself. They searched for Wu Xin and visited the Tianhai City Countermeasure Bureau, where Qiu Ye appeared and offered a way back to the coffee shop.

• Zhu Li revealed that a surviving spark of the Flame Ghost possessed her, and that the Three-Legged Golden Crow's Golden Flame had once triggered a rampage that burned the mountains.
• Lin Yue told Zhu Li that killing the Flame Ghost herself might lessen the resentment fire inside her, and Zhu Li agreed.
• Chen Xi and Lin Yue traveled to Wu Xin's home, but found only an empty shell because Wu Xin had not been generated in the trial.

• Qiu Ye, Chen Xi, and Lin Yue returned to the café and waited for their companions to come back from searching the Countermeasure Bureau.
• Gu Yu and the others reported that they had found no useful clues, and Chen Xi released Zhu Li to kill the Flame Ghost with a water-shaped blade.

Lin Yue and Chen Xi revisited memories in their mental world, including Wu Xin’s tragic story and the night Lin Yue confessed. After Chen Xi confessed again and their affection reached 90, Lin Yue brought them to Lake Heart Park and asked if Chen Xi was ready for her final trial.

• Lin Yue explained that Lu Siqi had become an empty shell filled with negative emotions, and Chen Xi said she had forgiven Wu Xin but would still have eliminated her if she were alive.
• Chen Xi earned the Exchanged Notebooks achievement, raising her affection with Lin Yue to 80.

Ailin confirmed Zhu Li had not been possessed in the abandoned timeline, then sent Chen Xi and Lin Yue into the modified trial.
