- Underworld — A cold, snow-covered region among Adam’s roots, used as a prison and execution ground 388.
- Village of Warriors — A village also named Elbaf, where disputes traditionally could be settled by a duel invoking the God of Elbaf 245.
- Harald’s former castle — The site of a dormant magic circle left during Harald’s final days; it later allowed Holy Knights to enter Elbaf 455.
History
Harald sought to move Elbaf away from its feared warrior past and into peaceful relations with other nations. He built diplomatic ties, encouraged interested giants to join the Marines, and worked toward World Government membership 85 239 293. Elbaf remained outside the World Government despite its military strength 56.
Imu instead sought to control Elbaf and use its giants as soldiers. Harald resisted but was affected by Imu’s contract; Loki killed him to stop the takeover. The truth was concealed, leaving Loki widely blamed for his father’s death and Jarul governing during the resulting royal vacancy 293 339. Jarul later explained that he had feared an immediate campaign of revenge would destroy Harald’s chance of securing peace 457.
When Holy Knights Shamrock and Gunko arrived to renew the attempt to subjugate Elbaf, Jarul publicly revealed Harald’s fate and his recognition of Loki as heir 455 456. The giants acknowledged Loki as king. He declared the World Government Elbaf’s enemy and ordered attacks on Enies Lobby and nearby Marine and government facilities 457. Giant forces subsequently assaulted Marine branches across the New World while Loki attacked Enies Lobby 459.
Society and Military
- Elbaf has the strongest military force among the seas’ giant kingdoms, though it is not the only giant nation 62.
- Warrior traditions remain influential. Dorry and Brogy’s prolonged duel reflects the importance placed on a warrior’s honor 245.
- Under Harald, some younger giants pursued noncombat careers; others served as guards, joined the Giant Warrior Pirates, or entered the Marines 340 456.
- The Giant Warrior Pirates are one of Elbaf’s historic fighting forces. Their ships remained usable when the kingdom mobilized against the World Government 387 457.
- The Hammer Corps were a legendary force of more than one hundred giant warriors, including ancient giants. Many were shipwrights as well as fighters; after their long disappearance, they were found alive beneath extraordinarily durable ice 387 390.
- Elbaf Spear is a Giant Race technique that can combine multiple fighters’ strength into one attack. It is not restricted to giants 138 391.
