History

Taiyi's consciousness first awakened within the Chaos Bell's inner space, where its chimes shattered and then reorganized his fragmented soul and inherited memories. Rather than reject the foreign element within Taiyi, the bell showed attachment and protection, establishing a close symbiotic connection with him 1.

After Taiyi obtained the Sun Star Origin Mark, the Chaos Bell resonated with the Sun Star and absorbed its laws. The resulting three Great Sun restrictions strengthened its patterns and deepened its connection with Taiyi's Chaos True Sun Fire 6 7.

Taiyi later discovered that the bell contained both Yellow-Chaos energy and the malevolent residual will of a Blood Fiend Chaos Demon God. The bell forcibly tamed this will into its own restrictions, becoming noticeably more responsive and awakening its artifact spirit enough to recognize Taiyi as its master 7.

The awakened spirit eventually conveyed its need for ten thousand kinds of malevolent energy to “complete” itself. Taiyi accepted a mutual arrangement: he would seek this energy, while the bell would help him grow strong enough to survive the coming Calamity 10. It later absorbed Battle Fiend energy from conflict, though it rejected ordinary malevolent energy in favor of killing intent and obsession born from battle 18 20.

During Taiyi's escape from Pangu Hall, the Chaos Bell was driven to a full-force activation against Pangu's axe imprint. It bore most of the impact and propelled Taiyi out of the hall, but its light was extinguished and it became dormant afterward 24 27. It was later usable again for spatial-temporal perception while Taiyi prepared for Zixiao Palace 37.

While Taiyi integrated three Karma Reversal fragments into his Dao Foundation, the bell's Dao essence suppressed the conflicting forbidden powers and helped prevent the collapse of his sea of consciousness. Upon Taiyi's breakthrough to half-step Quasi-Saint, it tolled throughout the Great Wilderness for three days and nights, tempering his cultivation and publicly declaring his new cultivation path 52 53.

As the Witch-Demon conflict approached, the Chaos Bell became increasingly responsive to Taiyi's strategic intent. It accompanied him as his principal treasure during his war preparations, functioning as both an offensive-defensive weapon and a means of spatial escape 76 80 82.

During Houtu's creation of reincarnation beside the Netherworld Blood Sea, the bell manifested autonomously and resonated with the newborn law of reincarnation.
