Background / History

Anko was formerly Orochimaru's disciple. When she encountered him near Konoha after several years apart, she recognized that he had taken another person's body and confronted him over his actions. Orochimaru described her as his favored disciple and noted that she had rejected him in the past. 25

Her attempt to kill Orochimaru with the Shadow Snake Hand failed; he easily evaded the technique, then used genjutsu to overwhelm and control her. He later abducted her to a cave as bait for Yang Xing. 25 26 27

While captive, Anko tried to protect Yang Xing by urging him to leave and offering herself to Orochimaru instead. Yang ultimately rescued her and severely injured Orochimaru, profoundly changing Anko's view of Yang's strength. 28 29

Afterward, Anko resolved to become an Anbu ninja, protect Konoha, and someday defeat Orochimaru herself. She also began pursuing greater strength, particularly Yang's Water Style technique. 29 31

Personality

Anko is fiery, blunt, and impatient. Upon meeting Yang Xing's team, she immediately sized them up, warned Yang not to provoke her, and later berated him for arriving late to a mission. 22 24

She is intensely stubborn about strength. Even after Orochimaru's genjutsu left her unable to walk properly, she insisted that she would become stronger than Yang and pursue Anbu service. 29 30

Beneath her confrontational manner, Anko is protective and emotionally sincere.
