Mars's Future

The turmoil on Mars had finally passed.

In the second solar month after Kelbo Hal's death, Quadrant attended a ceremony in Olympus Forge City and formally became Fabricator-General.

Everything had been arranged.

The ceremony, the inaugural address, even the office.

Olympus Forge City belonged to Quadrant.

And the new Fabricator-General's office in Olympus Forge City had not been newly established. He had inherited Kelbo Hal's original office.

When Quadrant entered the office surrounded by over a thousand Martian high-ranking officials, he found that even its furnishings and layout were exactly the same as when Kelbo Hal had held office.

No, there was one slight change.

Quadrant raised his head and looked ahead of the desk. At some point, the Imperial Aquila had been hung above the Mechanicus emblem.

There had originally been only the Mechanicus emblem there.

"Congratulations, Fabricator-Director."

A sage stepped forward and performed the Gear Rite. He did not address Quadrant as Fabricator-General, but as Fabricator-Director.

Quadrant was briefly puzzled, then thought: Fabricator-Director was a title with more Martian flavor, while Fabricator-General was the opposite. That title carried more of an Imperium flavor.

Quadrant considered it again in the manner Qin Xa had taught him.

Clearly, the sage who had been the first to congratulate him was obviously from the Martian faction.

Then Quadrant realized that this sage was using a subtle method, expressing his stance to the new Fabricator-General through every word he spoke.

The so-called Imperial faction consisted of those on Mars who were loyal to the Imperium and The Emperor. In handling most matters, they tended to favor Terra's position.

Opposing them was the Martian faction, which made judgments and decisions from Mars's perspective first when handling affairs.
