Background

Gu Linyuan was born to the Goddess of Life and the God of Destruction, two God Kings whose opposing powers ordinarily made having offspring impossible. During a Space-Time Turbulence, their weakened and fused life-and-destruction powers formed the power of creation, allowing Gu Linyuan to be conceived. His father then sent him through the Space-Time Countercurrent to the era of Tang San’s growth, crossing tens of thousands of years and arriving prematurely on the Douluo Continent. 2 114

Gu Rong found him as an infant during a storm, protected from the rain by an invisible barrier and emanating a faint divine aura. Fearing that other major powers would target the child, Gu Rong concealed his origins for twelve years and raised him within the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. 2

After awakening Twin Martial Souls, Gu Linyuan spent six years unable to cultivate properly. The origins of life and destruction within him clashed continuously, leaving him physically weakened and preventing advancement. Following an epiphany, he refined both martial souls and achieved a stable balance between their powers, ending his stagnation. 10 73

He subsequently left the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect to temper himself on the continent. He bears no stated hatred toward the sect, but does not intend to return to a life bound by its obligations. 3 83

Personality

Gu Linyuan is generally composed and self-assured, particularly after overcoming the limitation that had prevented his cultivation. He refuses to be intimidated by sects, powerful families, or high-ranking Soul Masters, and prefers to decide his own path rather than be used as a political asset. 3 30

He is also pragmatic and strategically patient in battle. Against the Dragon Scorpion, he waited for an opening rather than joining Qian Renxue’s initial assault, then intervened when the decisive moment arrived. 27

Despite his confidence, Gu Linyuan recognizes his limitations. He acknowledges that his high-level skills consume enormous amounts of spirit power and that he cannot sustain a full battle against a genuine Spirit Saint for long. 62

He can be ruthless toward enemies. When confronting the imprisoned Golden Iron Triangle, he forced Flender, Yu Xiaogang, and Liu Erlong to choose which of them would survive, resulting in Flender’s sacrifice. 101

Gu Linyuan is determined to protect those close to him and has little regard for preserving a God Realm order that would endanger them. He intends to become a god through a position of his own creation rather than merely inheriting either parent’s divine seat. 128 161
