Background / History

The Drow developed magic-resistant skin through mutation. This adaptation allows them to ignore the harmful radiation of the Underdark, making them its undisputed overlords. Unlike mind flayers, beholders, and deep gnomes, they can establish cities throughout areas affected by radiation without suffering radiation-related diseases or producing deformed offspring. Humans and surface elves possess even less resistance to the same environment 1311.

Drow periodically emerge from the Underdark to raid the cities and villages of surface-dwelling peoples. Their motives include hatred of surface dwellers and the need to obtain slaves 1311.
