Background / History
Sword Mother transmigrated alongside Jiang Liang six years before his Martial Soul awakening, but an unseen force sealed her and prevented Jiang Liang from hearing her. Once the seal vanished during the awakening, she manifested as his humanoid Martial Soul, Sword Bearer, while communicating with him directly 1 2.
She had already improved Jiang Liang's Cold Moon Sword with sword qi while sealed, raising it to the level of a quasi-magical artifact. After learning the local Martial Soul and Soul Ring system, she rejected ordinary rings as unworthy of him and set a Ten-Thousand-Year Soul Ring as his first practical target 2.
Sword Mother replaced ordinary soul-power meditation with her own sword-cultivation path: refining qi, nurturing the sword, and refining the heart. Under her instruction, Jiang Liang produced detached sword energy on his first day and mastered foundational sword forms within three days 3 4.
During Asura God's intervention against Jiang Liang, Sword Mother revealed that she had been formed from a sliver of divinity belonging to the Sword Bearer, one of the five supreme gods of the Ancient Heavenly Court. She inherited that Sword Bearer's memories, explaining her knowledge of a divine Sword Dao distinct from the Douluo Continent's cultivation system 315.
Her origin places her beyond the conventional Martial Soul system. Jiang Liang later concluded that she was forged from divinity shed by the ancient Sword Bearer and was fundamentally too powerful for ordinary Soul Beast Soul Rings to endure, causing even high-level rings to collapse on contact 350.
Her humanoid form is not her original body. Sword Mother's true form is an ancient sword of immense power, which she initially withheld from Jiang Liang because his Sword Qi, Sword Heart, Sword Dao, and Sword Intent were not yet sufficient to withstand it safely 316.
Appearance
Sword Mother appears as a tall, peerlessly beautiful woman whose presence carries overwhelming coldness, sharpness, and killing intent. Her aura can terrify powerful Soul Beasts and make even high-level Soul Masters feel their souls tremble 1 13 156.
- Silver hair flowing “like a river of stars.”
- White, moon-white, plain silver, or crescent-colored robes.
- Faint golden light or dust surrounding her.
- Indifferent eyes that become gentle when directed toward Jiang Liang.
- An aura compared to a sword: restrained, sharp, and oppressive 1 8 60 156.
- Her true form is an ancient sword carrying overwhelming sharpness; even a glance at it made Asura God's divine-consciousness projection feel that its Divine Soul could be severed 316.
- In its unobstructed state, her true form is a plain, narrow, nearly translucent silver longsword without ornamentation, yet its manifestation changes the atmosphere around it and instinctively terrifies others 351.
- Her self-condensed first Soul Ring is red with a distinctive silver outer rim that becomes brighter and more murderous as its age rises 352.
Personality
Sword Mother is deeply affectionate and doting toward Jiang Liang, regularly praising him, ruffling his hair, and calling him her “little master.” She is proud of his talent and is openly pleased by his rapid progress 3 4 14.
Her affection comes with exacting standards. She considers ordinary Soul Rings beneath Jiang Liang, insists that he develop through real hardship, and refuses to replenish the three strands of sword qi she gave him because excessive dependence on outside power would weaken his Sword Heart 2 13.
She is fiercely protective of Jiang Liang but does not indulge every situation. She guards his body and sea of consciousness during dangerous absorptions, yet she also permits Bibi Dong to punish him when he provokes her through his own conduct 13 60 169.
Sword Mother can become jealous when Jiang Liang grows close to other girls, though her reactions are generally teasing and affectionate rather than hostile 17 22 25.
Although she considers Jiang Liang only barely qualified to wield her true form, she encourages him to improve rather than allowing him to become complacent. She stresses that proper cultivation of Sword Qi, Sword Intent, and Sword Heart is necessary before he can truly control her full power 316.
She recognizes that some trials of the heart cannot be resolved through her intervention. When Jiang Liang's Sword Heart wavered during the Ice God's Illusion Trial, she could only warn his companions and wait for him to find his own answer 335 336.
Despite the incompatibility between the God of Destruction's power and her Sword Dao, Sword Mother accepted that power and remained willing to follow Jiang Liang's chosen path. She also reassured him that abandoning a divine position would be acceptable if obtaining Soul Rings for her proved impossible 341 350.

- Warns him of nearby threats, including Tang Hao's surveillance of Jiang Liang and Xiao Wu 37.

Sword Qi
Sword Mother's sword qi possesses immense sharpness and killing intent. It can frighten high-level Soul Beasts, destroy remnant souls within Jiang Liang's sea of consciousness, and overwhelm powerful opponents 13 62.
- Placed three faint strands of sword qi on Jiang Liang to aid him in hunting Soul Beasts 2.
- One strand drove off a Titan Snow Demon and annihilated a Ten-Thousand-Year Ice Blade Mantis 13.
- Destroyed the Ice Blade Mantis's remnant soul during Jiang Liang's ring absorption 13.
- Casually eliminated another invading remnant soul during Jiang Liang's seventh-ring absorption 62.
- Shattered Bibi Dong's Level 99 soul-power pressure with a flick of her finger 156.
- Suppressed the Snow Empress, Ice Emperor, and Titan Snow Demon King with an array of qi swords 62 63.
- Injured and forced back Asura God's divine-consciousness projection with a single streak of sword qi 315.
- Her true sword form radiates an edge so potent that it can threaten a god's Divine Soul merely through its presence 316.
Sword Cultivation Teachings
Sword Mother teaches a cultivation system distinct from conventional Soul Master training. Her path centers on refining qi, nurturing the sword, and maintaining a firm Sword Heart 3.
- Qi Refinement — Converts spiritual energy and soul power into purer, sharper sword qi 3.
- Sword Nurturing — Uses sword qi, intent, and soul to deepen the connection between Jiang Liang and the Cold Moon Sword 17.
- Heart Tempering — Teaches that a sword cannot remain sharp without a firm heart, and that a stable Sword Heart allows a swordsman to break through even desperate circumstances 3.
- Sword Control — Taught Jiang Liang to control the Cold Moon Sword with sword qi, allowing it to hover and move according to his thoughts 26.
- Sword Flight — Guided Jiang Liang toward flight through his natal flying sword 14 45 46.
- Sword Heart — Emphasizes steadiness, purity, and resolve; she holds that divine sword technique and a clear Sword Heart form the true path of the sword 3 215.
- Sword Formation — Demonstrated the proper use of a sword formation by commanding thousands of Flying Swords through inexhaustible Sword Intent and Sword Qi 315 316.
- Sword Dao Guidance — Recognized Jiang Liang's post-Illusion Trial transformation, in which his Sword Qi acquired a true soul and his Sword Dao became an expression of his own self 338.
Golden Core Method
Sword Mother understands the method of condensing a Golden Core, a process resembling the formation of a Soul Core. She transmitted the technique directly into Dugu Bo's consciousness in exchange for his lifelong protection of Jiang Liang 8.
Artifact Nurturing and Forging
Sword Mother is knowledgeable in the refinement and nurturing of natal artifacts and swords.
- Identified the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well as a Dragonfall Land with dense spiritual energy and residual dragon aura 7.
- Instructed Jiang Liang to refine Ah Yin into a Natal Artifact through the same principles used in Sword Nourishment, while warning him not to harm her Divine Soul with excessive sword qi 59.
- Judged Bibi Dong's Cold Heart Iron Essence sword to be made from exceptional material but crudely forged, and offered to teach Jiang Liang sword-forging techniques 183.
- Suggested that Jiang Liang could nourish Zhan Tian with sword qi and potentially cultivate it into a second flying sword 183.
Protection and Suppression
Sword Mother acts as Jiang Liang's principal guardian during crises, particularly against mental attacks, pressure, and powerful Soul Beasts 13 37 60.
- Guarded Jiang Liang during his fusion with Ah Yin's Hundred-Thousand-Year spirit bone 60.
- Intimidated Ah Yin into ceasing her attempt to interrupt the fusion 60.
- Forced Tang Hao to retreat after he ambushed Jiang Liang and Xiao Wu 37.
- Warned Jiang Liang that Bibi Dong possessed a powerful yin and evil force, noting that Sword Mother's own strength had not yet returned to its peak 156.
- Overpowered Asura God's divine-consciousness projection after it descended to protect Tang Hao and Tang San 315 316.
- Assessed Snow Empress's damaged origin after her failed Million-Year Heavenly Tribulation and confirmed that several years of recuperation would allow her to recover 349.
True Form
Sword Mother's true form is an ancient sword rather than her humanoid manifestation. She can restore this form and entrust it to Jiang Liang temporarily, but doing so requires sufficient cultivation from him to avoid damaging his body and Qi Sea 316.
- Restored her true form before Jiang Liang during the confrontation with Asura God's projection 316.
- Guided Jiang Liang to strike with all his strength using her true form, which shattered the dark-red divine space and cut down the projection in one blow 316.
- States that Jiang Liang is only barely qualified to wield her at his current stage and must continue tempering his Sword Dao to control her true power 316.
- Her unadorned silver sword body possesses such overwhelming presence that Ah Yin was frightened simply by its manifestation at the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well 351.
Soul Ring Condensation
Ordinary Soul Beast Soul Rings cannot fuse with Sword Mother. Their energies shatter upon reaching her because they cannot withstand or contain the power of her divinity-derived sword nature 349 350.
- Failed to absorb the rings of a Forty-Thousand-Year Rift Mantis, a nearly Seventy-Thousand-Year Golden Condor, and several Soul Beasts between roughly Sixty Thousand and Eighty Thousand years of cultivation 349 350.
- Determined that the failure was unrelated to a ring's age, element, or offensive attribute, but instead arose from Sword Mother's fundamentally superior nature 350.
- Used her immense reserves of pure Sword Qi as the compatible energy source for a self-condensed Soul Ring 351.
- Required Jiang Liang to act as the bridge between her Martial Soul form and origin; attempting the process alone risked destabilizing the ring and injuring both of them 351.
- Combined her silver-white energy with Jiang Liang's dark-blue Sword Qi to form a stable white ring, then raised it through the normal color stages to Hundred-Thousand-Year red 352.
- Produced a unique red Soul Ring edged in silver, whose sharp killing intent appears connected to her true sword form 352.
Destructive Divine Power
The God of Destruction left Sword Mother with a destructive divine power after choosing Jiang Liang as an inheritor. Although she noted that it did not completely suit her Sword Dao, she accepted it in order to continue supporting him through his divine trials 341.
