Background / History
Jiang Liang was transmigrated from Earth. At age six, he underwent his Martial Soul awakening in Nuoding City's Martial Soul Branch Hall, awakening the sentient Sword Bearer and the Cold Moon Sword as Twin Martial Souls with Innate Full Soul Power. Sword Bearer could communicate with him and became known to him as Sword Mother. His parents had been Soul Masters at Nuoding City's Martial Soul Hall branch before dying during a spirit-beast attack. 1 4
Under Sword Mother's instruction, Jiang Liang converted his soul power into sword qi, entered Qi Refinement and Sword Cultivation, and learned basic swordsmanship at an extraordinary pace. His sword qi tempered his body, meridians, and bones, while the Cold Moon Sword developed an icy sharpness capable of leaving frost in the air and releasing detached sword qi. 3 4
He traveled to Heaven Dou City and negotiated with Dugu Bo: Jiang Liang would help resolve the poison backlash of the Jade Phosphorous Serpent Martial Soul in return for access to the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well's immortal herbs. Sword Mother required Dugu Bo to protect Jiang Liang for life as part of the arrangement. 6 8
After strengthening his physique with immortal herbs, Jiang Liang hunted soul beasts in the Extreme North and began acquiring Soul Rings far beyond ordinary Soul Masters' limits. He later trained at the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well, where repeated life-and-death encounters with ten-thousand-year soul beasts developed his killing intent, sword momentum, and practical combat ability. 9 14 26
Jiang Liang planned for his nine Soul Rings to principally provide amplification abilities, particularly speed enhancements, believing speed to be the most effective combat advantage. 11
His success at the Heaven Dou Great Soul Arena earned him the title “Cold Sword Immortal.” He defeated opponents above his level with single sword strikes and gained a Silver Soul Badge by age seven. 48 49 51
Jiang Liang fused with a one-hundred-thousand-year spirit bone originating from Ah Yin, which elevated him to level 60. He later defeated the seventy-thousand-year Ghost Ice Spine Beast and advanced to level 63 after absorbing its Soul Ring. 60 61 63
In the Extreme North, Jiang Liang defeated the Ghost Ice Spine Beast and was acknowledged by the Snow Empress, Ice Emperor, and Titan Snow Demon King as the Ice God's chosen successor. The Three Heavenly Kings pledged to protect him until the Ice God's will became clear. 61 63
He also entered the depths of the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well, where he encountered the remnant consciousnesses of the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings. The Ice Dragon King recognized that Jiang Liang's Cold Moon Sword had reached the Ultimate Ice attribute. 83 84
At Spirit Hall Academy, Jiang Liang single-handedly challenged the Golden Class and became the academy's most prominent student. His performance in the Elite Training Tournament spread his name through Martial Soul City. 163 164 178
He later defeated Qian Daoliu in a sword duel, taking the Grand Elder's broken standard longsword as a trophy. Bibi Dong subsequently had a superior Cold Heart Iron Essence sword forged for him; Jiang Liang later named it Zhan Tian. 183 184
After formally receiving the Ice God's legacy, Jiang Liang completed the first three divine trials. He endured the Extreme North's blizzard, located three pieces of Ten Thousand Year Mysterious Ice Marrow, and crossed the Extreme Ice Rift, raising his Ice God affinity to 20 percent. 190 192 196 225
As leader of Spirit Hall Team Two, Jiang Liang led his team to an undefeated preliminary record and first place in the promotion matches. During the final tournament in Spirit City, he protected Zhu Zhuqing from Dai Weisi's sneak attack and defeated the New Divine Wind Team's seven-man fusion skill with a single sword strike. 254 271 290 293
Personality
Jiang Liang is confident, playful, and openly proud of his swordsmanship. He frequently teases friends and opponents alike, but he remains disciplined in cultivation, repeatedly enduring dangerous training and soul-ring absorption to improve. 4 26 49 192
He is calculating in negotiations and willing to use manipulation when pursuing an objective, as shown by his dealings with Dugu Bo and his trap for Tang San. 6 125
Despite his recklessness and bravado, Jiang Liang values those close to him. He refused Qian Daoliu's demand that he abandon his friends for the Holy Son position, and he has repeatedly accepted responsibility for protecting or assisting companions. 180
He is candid about his romantic ambitions and intends to pursue multiple wives, though he is careful not to openly express this intention around Sword Mother or Dugu Yan. 11
Jiang Liang is dismissive of people he considers weak, hypocritical, or undeserving of respect, particularly Yu Xiaogang and Tang San. However, he respects determined opponents and fellow swordsmen, including Chen Xin and the New Divine Wind Team. 42 213 293
