Nature

A Martial Soul is the manifestation of a Soul Master's bloodline. A person normally inherits the stronger Martial Soul of their parents; in rare cases, they may inherit both. Major clans treat a shared Martial Soul as proof of family identity and tightly control its inheritance. 159 178 199

Martial Souls can influence their bearer's appearance, physique, personality, and temperament. Their innate quality determines a Soul Master's potential, while their traits determine the most suitable combat-development path. 82 104

Awakening and Cultivation

Martial Souls are awakened at approximately six years old under the guidance of a Soul Master. Only children whose awakening includes Soul Power can become Soul Masters. 68 71 75

A Soul Master generally develops according to the characteristics of their Martial Soul. The five stated paths are Power Attack, Control, Agility Attack, Support, and Defense. 82

Known examples are consistently described as possessing two top-tier Martial Souls. Martial Soul Hall considers an additional requirement—that both parents' Martial Souls must be top-tier—a plausible but unproven conjecture due to the small number of known cases. 200

Martial Souls may evolve through cultivation, suitable Soul Rings, bloodline factors, or external treasures.
